Man, I wish we had gold laying around like that in North Georgia. Once you get past the gold belt, into the Cohutta wilderness near Blue Ridge/McCaysville it’s virtually is nonexistent. I mean, it’s out there, but not in any sufficient quantity.

I think you need a river sluice up there. Apart from the different pan I could have sworn this was a rerun of one of your early videos, I think it starts the same, "It's getting late in the day and it's pretty dark in the forest". That reminds me, weren't you guys going to hi bank that wide cobbel stream you core sampled the bank with the post hole auger?
_" think you need a river sluice up there ..."_ Unless I'm mistaken, in-river sluices are 100% illegal in BC. ... because, uh, Dread Silt ... because no rivers turn into raging mud torrents in BC when the snow melts in the spring, every year .. ;-) By all means, don't let people mess up redds in small bodies of water while fish are spawning, but banned in _all_ rivers, at _all_ times of the year. That seems silly. We have some strict in-stream placer mining laws down here in Oregon, but we can still run little river sluices.

High bankers are banned, and river sluices are OK, or should I say any form of motorised assistance is banned ie pumps, vacs, motorised dry washers, dredges, etc. so everything needs to be done by hand unless you have a lease. However the state of Victoria (the next state south) allows high bankers. Sucks because I used to work a gravel bar on a river near home which is about 40 acres in area and get consistent gold. Just recently that bar had 20 ft of water flowing over it. Go figure.

My guess is 0.35 grams. Don't know why you guys wouldn't take a day or two just panning or sluicing that area. It's a dream area to so many that watched this video.
