I have pixel 6 with android version 14 and trying to do this with MG Hector. I can see Car Stream app on the car screen but its not playing any videos. It only says that " new messages ..."
This is due to android 14. None of the apps work now due to this. I'm actively looking for a solution to this but no luck yet. Only working alternatives are android ai boxes like the latest video I uploaded just last night.

Hi, unfortunately, it's because of Android 14 update. Every phone that has been upgraded to Android 14 is currently facing this issue. There is no solution yet and I'm keeping a close watch at this. Will upload a video as soon as I find a solution to this.
It was working on my Samsung device but since the time I moved to OnePlus 12r (Oxygen 14 version) , car stream is stopped appearing on list of apps on Android auto customisation list or car head unit.

Hi. Unfortunately, if the android auto in the car itself is asking you to update the app then there's no alternative, none that I was able to find till now. You can try this method or the side load method in part 7 of this entire series.

As for android 13, it still works on my s20 fe. Android 14 however, not working at the moment. All apps apart from aa mirror and aa mirror plus work perfectly for me even today on android 13. Hope that helps.
I won't be able to confirm since I've never used it. Maybe you can try the trial version first to see if it works and if you like it then you can purchase it. Always happy to help! I'm not sure why it's not letting you login. You can try the fermata auto app perhaps that will allow it since it has a browser as well.

Unfortunately, every android 14 phone is facing this issue ever since the phones were upgraded to the current version. I'm currently looking for a solution for this and will upload a solution as soon as I find something. It's no longer working on my s23 ultra either.

Hi. Yeah there was one more user who had the same phone as you also running on android 12. Unfortunately it didn't work form him either. This phone doesn't seem to be compatible yet. Some android 12 phones are incompatible at the moment and hopefully aaad team will fix this issue soon.

Oh. Well I think you opted for the non android auto variant when you purchased the car. If not, then try using a different cable preferably a cable that allows you to transfer data to your laptop/pc. That might fix the issue.
Glad you found my video useful! Unfortunately, we have to first select the search box on the car and then type there itself or on your phone if you see a google keyboard pop up on your phone at that time.

Hi Tom. Do you mean the loop function at your end is enabled and you wish to stop it going in loop? If so then just click on the video being played and just below it you should be able to see the loop option. Click on it until you find the desired setting. Hope that resolves the issue. Take care.

Glad you found my videos useful, I'm happy to help. Unfortunately, we cannot mirror or even view most OTT apps on the car head unit. Though you can try using the plex app which seems to work fine.

Did you download carstream from google play store or from within the AAAD app like I showed in the video. The AAAD carstream works but the android auto carstream doesn't work. Let me know how it turns out for you. It's worked for everyone I have come across. Which phone are you using btw.

Hi. Is your oneplus 9pro running on android 12? I recently came across some version 12 models are facing this similar issue. I read an article somewhere that they are currently working on resolving this too. You can contact AAAD customer support informing them of this issue I'm sure they'll fix it soon since it's the latest model.

@@anantkajaria2738 ohh.ok..then i guess it should work somehow. do you remember the last AA version? you can uninstall the current version of aa (uninstall updates from app settings), stop auto install updates from settings and then download and install that version. what is your current version? same as mine?
I recommend fermata auto which is great player for movies download in your phone, fermata auto also has inbuilt UA-cam, Even car stream support movies in your phone, there is an option of internal storage on top from there you can play downloaded video of your phone . Even if your phone is off it works but in mirroring phone should be on all time

No there isn't any such setting that I know of. Which Android version are you using? It should be working just fine. Check the car head u it for any possible settings since each brand has a different setup

No problem at all. There are AA Mirror and AA Mirror Plus apps in AAAD as well. You can try them. I haven't tried them till now since I like to keep my phone free while driving. My app shows my next available download on the 26th of this month. I'll try then and let you know how it turns out. With reference to the previous method I showed in my old videos, they won't work now. As of this AAAD is the only method it will work.

I recently came to know that this method is not working for some Android 12 devices and are currently being looked upon by AAAD team. This should be fixed soon as well. You may contact their customer support team within the app itself for an even quicker resolution.

@@virsli100 I understand you mean Android version 12. Yeah you may contact them. In the AAAD app, top right corner, 3 dots, click on help and it asks if you want to send an email. Same thing I'm getting here. I hope they make this app more interactive.
Am using android 13, after downloading old version Android auto, i cannot install that version, it says cannot install as an existing package is present
I tried this on my Chevy truck installed everything, realized I had android at, so I did all the updates to get to android 9. Plug it in and I don’t see the car stream app on my screen. Not sure what else to do.
@@HarryWT I have a galaxy s8+ sitting around that's not active. I use wifi to update it and download everything I needed and I'll tether it to my other to use wifi to play videos.
@@SpoonedITR ok. ideally it should work just fine. did you allow all the permissions for both AAAD and carstream in the phone settings? also please try restarting the phone as that worked for one other user.
So if i continue with the old AAAD app version and old car stream app, how will i know if they have resolved the issue? As i am using the same app without updating it
You can update the aaad app to check if it resolves the issue. The reason this old version was recommended is because most phones are compatible with it and not latest versions..
@@hitechpolymer6914 s10+ should be compatible. If you face any issues simply uninstall aaad and reinstall my version. Don't delete carstream and it will work
@HarryWT it used to work before but not anymore. When I connect my phone it doesn't look like the carstream is not connecting with my phone. I unplugged and plugged my phone several times but it doesn't even let me type anything.

Start anyway? This is the first time I have come across this issue. Check if all the permissions are provided to the apps and try using another cable as well. It seems some other app is sort of halting operation of this app.

Hi Harry, No it is 11 but after several uninstalls and installs of the latest version of the AAAD, it finally skip the crash point and now I have it:) P.S. it is hard to navigate the content on Mazda 6, 2019 because the android auto disables the touch screen and you can only use the knob. Other than that, it is awesome 👍

@@anantkajaria2738 like I've mentioned earlier and in pinned comment some android 12 phones are showing issue and AAAD team is working on solution. I'm not really sure if youtube premium would result in this issue or not. You could try using a different normal account altogether since creating an account hardly takes much time. And if you have a different phone you could try that too. But this should be working just fine.

@@DowgMusic1 no i just see the videos along with the compass on the right which cannot be removed. But that's not an android auto setting, that's Kia's head unit's firmware setting. Maybe that's the issue you are facing. Check the head unit's settings maybe you find something
Glad it worked for you! Yeah the keyboard will work only while parked in order to avoid typing while driving which may result in an accident if the driver is doing so. I think that's ok as a precaution.

@@23emchi Yes, that does help. Well actually I've been coming across a lot of people complaining with Android 12 devices. Which is why I mentioned in my pinned comment as well that some Android 12 devices have some or the other issue. But I think it should get fixed soon since it is the latest version which most people will be getting access to soon enough and AAAD just can't afford to lose their customers. I would recommend not to delete the screen2auto app, just keep it and check it from time to time because if deleted you will have to waste another free download unless you bought the app. Hope it works soon for you. @@23emchi ohhh man you deleted the app 😄no worries. To be honest I don't trust the android play store version because they are not always the most updated ones. I trust the developer's website since they keep updating the information there. Plus, I believe play store has to comply with the terms and conditions which, unfortunately, nowadays say we cannot drive while watching youtube. I understand it's not safe but the driver barely watches the screen, it usually for the passengers. Anyways, yeah i guess you'll have to wait a month. I'll find another app for you by then. Give me a week's time. I'll give detailed look at the app then you can decide too.
Unfortunately, none of the Android 14 phones now support these apps. I'm also currently using S24 Ultra and they don't work using my phone either. Actively looking into it for a solution, nothing yet though. Only workaround is to use android boxes. I've been using the carlinkit uhd, review video on my channel too. You are welcome and I'm glad it worked for you too. The latency is mostly due to either older bluetooth version in case of wireless connection or a low quality cable usually provided with phone in case of wired connection. Try using a great quality cable as wired connections work best. My low quality cable also gives me similar issues.

Glad it's working for you. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a split screen feature yet that I know of. However, you can use the AA Mirror plus app to mirror your phone which can then show both the navigation along with videos together. Okay so I just went in my Mazda CX-5, and it actually does work! Thank you very much! The only issue I'm having, is that my radio is not a touch screen and the center knob that controls the movement of the cursor is not configured properly... So when you trying to select a video to play on UA-cam it's very wonky.. is there possibly another version of this that is formatted for non-touch screen head units on cars? Oh wow that's good to know atleast it works. And not at all it's not a stupid question by any means I'm glad to help. So this is an odd question to be honest. I'm not sure of the solution. We can try one solution though which may or may not work. So now you 2 apps in your phone; AAD and Carstream, I believe. Let's try updating the AAAD app to latest version 1.4.3 which I told to ignore in my video. Since the version is latest it might have a fix for your screen's issue🤷🏻♂️. Don't delete the other app. As long as the other app is in your phone, theoretically the app should work even with the latest version. Let me know how it turns out.
Nothing is working now in latest update of android auto....now u cannot use old version of AA...for AA to use you have to have latest version and in that u cannot use carstream....does anyone know now how to to play youtube in latest version

Hi. Unfortunately only videos played via a pendrive can be played in full screen. However, that could be brand specific too. Check your car's media settings maybe there's an option to change it.

@@araf7829 oh ok yeah i think the reason is Android version 12. I read somewhere recently that issues are occurring on those and are being worked upon as we speak. It should get rectified soon can't promise by when. Until then if you have a spare phone then try using that lower version.
It doesn't work on Realme devices as shown in video. Testing for resolution is in progress. Hopefully it will be rectified soon and I will update for sure.

You can try but I can't really promise since its Android 8.1 and testing is still ongoing. There's no harm in trying. If it works then UA-cam will work. Netflix requires rooting the phone which is not really recommended since that will impact the warranty of the phone.
Has anyone else had any success navigating through car stream and Android auto in the 2021 Mazda CX-5? This head unit is not a touch screen, and it is very difficult to pick and choose the videos when you're connected to car stream, has anyone had any success with this? Is there something else I can possibly download that would help me to navigate through the menus because the center knob in between the seats that normally controls the movements is not working correctly and you are unable to pick and choose videos. Right. Carsteam is youtube. For netflix we need to root the phone apparently but that'll ruin the phone warranty so I haven't tried. Will upload a video if I find an alternative.

Hi. Unfortunately, if the android auto in the car itself is asking you to update the app then there's no alternative, none that I was able to find till now. You can try this method or the side load method in part 7 of this entire series.

Long shot.. But as of today does this still work with Ford sync 3.3, with a note 20 android 13 ?
As for android 13, it still works on my s20 fe. Android 14 however, not working at the moment. All apps apart from aa mirror and aa mirror plus work perfectly for me even today on android 13. Hope that helps.

I won't be able to confirm since I've never used it. Maybe you can try the trial version first to see if it works and if you like it then you can purchase it. I think you'll need a separate adapter for that. I haven't tested it myself so I won't be able to confirm you how it works exactly.
Car stream is working in my car Maruthi Baleno Alpha 2023 model. But AA Mirror plus is not showing on my car screen. I am using Samsung note 20 with android version 11.

Unfortunately, every android 14 phone is facing this issue ever since the phones were upgraded to the current version. I'm currently looking for a solution for this and will upload a solution as soon as I find something. It's no longer working on my s23 ultra either.
I was able to download CarStream app and does work, but it's not appiearing in the Android Auto app menu. I have a Samsung A32.
Try reenabling the developer options in your phone. If nothing works, the try the alternative methods mentioned below, at least 1 should work:

Hi. Yeah there was one more user who had the same phone as you also running on android 12. Unfortunately it didn't work form him either. This phone doesn't seem to be compatible yet. Some android 12 phones are incompatible at the moment and hopefully aaad team will fix this issue soon.

Oh. Well I think you opted for the non android auto variant when you purchased the car. If not, then try using a different cable preferably a cable that allows you to transfer data to your laptop/pc. That might fix the issue.

Hi Tom. Do you mean the loop function at your end is enabled and you wish to stop it going in loop? If so then just click on the video being played and just below it you should be able to see the loop option. Click on it until you find the desired setting. Hope that resolves the issue. Take care.

Did you download carstream from google play store or from within the AAAD app like I showed in the video. The AAAD carstream works but the android auto carstream doesn't work. Let me know how it turns out for you. It's worked for everyone I have come across. Which phone are you using btw.

I read an article somewhere that they are currently working on resolving this too. Even car stream support movies in your phone, there is an option of internal storage on top from there you can play downloaded video of your phone . Even if your phone is off it works but in mirroring phone should be on all time

No there isn't any such setting that I know of. Which Android version are you using? It should be working just fine. Check the car head u it for any possible settings since each brand has a different setup

No problem at all. There are AA Mirror and AA Mirror Plus apps in AAAD as well. You can try them. I haven't tried them till now since I like to keep my phone free while driving. My app shows my next available download on the 26th of this month. I'll try then and let you know how it turns out. With reference to the previous method I showed in my old videos, they won't work now. As of this AAAD is the only method it will work.

I recently came to know that this method is not working for some Android 12 devices and are currently being looked upon by AAAD team. This should be fixed soon as well. You may contact their customer support team within the app itself for an even quicker resolution.

I tried this on my Chevy truck installed everything, realized I had android at, so I did all the updates to get to android 9. Plug it in and I don’t see the car stream app on my screen. Not sure what else to do.

As even i am facing trouble searching youtube videos. The keyboard is un-available in driving mode. The videos are running fine.
You can update the aaad app to check if it resolves the issue. The reason this old version was recommended is because most phones are compatible with it and not latest versions..

Start anyway? This is the first time I have come across this issue. Check if all the permissions are provided to the apps and try using another cable as well. It seems some other app is sort of halting operation of this app.

No it is 11 but after several uninstalls and installs of the latest version of the AAAD, it finally skip the crash point and now I have it:)
P.S. it is hard to navigate the content on Mazda 6, 2019 because the android auto disables the touch screen and you can only use the knob. Other than that, it is awesome 👍

@@anantkajaria2738 like I've mentioned earlier and in pinned comment some android 12 phones are showing issue and AAAD team is working on solution. I'm not really sure if youtube premium would result in this issue or not. You could try using a different normal account altogether since creating an account hardly takes much time. And if you have a different phone you could try that too. But this should be working just fine.

@@DowgMusic1 no i just see the videos along with the compass on the right which cannot be removed. But that's not an android auto setting, that's Kia's head unit's firmware setting. Maybe that's the issue you are facing. Check the head unit's settings maybe you find something

@@23emchi Yes, that does help. Well actually I've been coming across a lot of people complaining with Android 12 devices. Which is why I mentioned in my pinned comment as well that some Android 12 devices have some or the other issue. But I think it should get fixed soon since it is the latest version which most people will be getting access to soon enough and AAAD just can't afford to lose their customers. I would recommend not to delete the screen2auto app, just keep it and check it from time to time because if deleted you will have to waste another free download unless you bought the app. Hope it works soon for you. @@23emchi ohhh man you deleted the app 😄no worries. To be honest I don't trust the android play store version because they are not always the most updated ones. I trust the developer's website since they keep updating the information there. Plus, I believe play store has to comply with the terms and conditions which, unfortunately, nowadays say we cannot drive while watching youtube. I understand it's not safe but the driver barely watches the screen, it usually for the passengers. Anyways, yeah i guess you'll have to wait a month. I'll find another app for you by then. Give me a week's time. I'll give detailed look at the app then you can decide too.

Unfortunately, such apps prevent screen mirroring which is why we get a black screen.

Unfortunately, none of the Android 14 phones now support these apps. I'm also currently using S24 Ultra and they don't work using my phone either. Actively looking into it for a solution, nothing yet though. Only workaround is to use android boxes. I've been using the carlinkit uhd, review video on my channel too. You are welcome and I'm glad it worked for you too. The latency is mostly due to either older bluetooth version in case of wireless connection or a low quality cable usually provided with phone in case of wired connection. Try using a great quality cable as wired connections work best. My low quality cable also gives me similar issues.

Glad it's working for you. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a split screen feature yet that I know of. However, you can use the AA Mirror plus app to mirror your phone which can then show both the navigation along with videos together. Okay so I just went in my Mazda CX-5, and it actually does work! Thank you very much! The only issue I'm having, is that my radio is not a touch screen and the center knob that controls the movement of the cursor is not configured properly... So when you trying to select a video to play on UA-cam it's very wonky.. is there possibly another version of this that is formatted for non-touch screen head units on cars? Thank you in advance and I apologize if it's a stupid question
Oh wow that's good to know atleast it works. And not at all it's not a stupid question by any means I'm glad to help. So this is an odd question to be honest. I'm not sure of the solution. We can try one solution though which may or may not work.
So now you 2 apps in your phone; AAD and Carstream, I believe. Let's try updating the AAAD app to latest version 1.4.3 which I told to ignore in my video. Since the version is latest it might have a fix for your screen's issue🤷🏻♂️. Don't delete the other app. As long as the other app is in your phone, theoretically the app should work even with the latest version. Let me know how it turns out.

Nothing is working now in latest update of android auto....now u cannot use old version of AA...for AA to use you have to have latest version and in that u cannot use carstream....does anyone know now how to to play youtube in latest version

My phone's currently on android 11 so the phone android version doesn't seem to be the issue either. I have a few questions for you: When did it last work for you? And where did you install carstream from? Was it from AAAD like I showed in this video or did you use AA Store to download and install that?

Hi. Unfortunately only videos played via a pendrive can be played in full screen. However, that could be brand specific too. Check your car's media settings maybe there's an option to change it.

Did you install the app using AAAD or AA Store? What is the android version of your phone?

Not sure what changed but AA mirror seems to be working for me. I tried it before and it didn't work, tried it again today and it is now working.

@@araf7829 oh ok yeah i think the reason is Android version 12. I read somewhere recently that issues are occurring on those and are being worked upon as we speak. It should get rectified soon can't promise by when. Until then if you have a spare phone then try using that lower version.

It doesn't work on Realme devices as shown in video. Testing for resolution is in progress. Hopefully it will be rectified soon and I will update for sure.

Hi a use a blackberry key2 which is currently on android 8.1. Any updates? If I can't get UA-cam can I get Netflix?
You can try but I can't really promise since its Android 8.1 and testing is still ongoing. There's no harm in trying. If it works then UA-cam will work. Netflix requires rooting the phone which is not really recommended since that will impact the warranty of the phone.

Has anyone else had any success navigating through car stream and Android auto in the 2021 Mazda CX-5? This head unit is not a touch screen, and it is very difficult to pick and choose the videos when you're connected to car stream, has anyone had any success with this? Is there something else I can possibly download that would help me to navigate through the menus because the center knob in between the seats that normally controls the movements is not working correctly and you are unable to pick and choose videos. Thank you in advance

How do i get netflix going? Carstream only youtube right
Right. Carsteam is youtube. For netflix we need to root the phone apparently but that'll ruin the phone warranty so I haven't tried. Will upload a video if I find an alternative.
Does working for android 14?
