      It’s linked in bio 😉 I think it’s because of the brand of the glue I used.

    Hi!!! Im done doing the CP. Do i need to put it on the fridge or room temp only?
    How did u connect the character to the base?
    Thank you!

    • @ClayBum
      @ClayBum  4 роки тому

      Room temp only. I connect the character to the base using aluminum wire. I insert wires in the legs and leave an excess to stick it onto the base.

    Hi, how can i make the character stand on the base? Do i need to put hole or just glue it?

    • @ClayBum
      @ClayBum  3 роки тому

      Yes you need to put a hole. The character should have excess wire on it's feet.

    Hello again,
    I tried making the porcelian 3 times already. I finally made a smooth one, but when it dries, it either cracks, or shrinks in the middle( creating a huge divot or indentation).
    I did not add any extra water. I used Elmer's glue.
    Also how do you dry sphere without it going flat?

    • @ClayBum
      @ClayBum  4 роки тому

      It shouldn't cracked. I think you overcooked the clay. Do not add water. The shrinking in the middle form when the clay is too soft and the outer layer dries too quickly. You should knead the clay well. Knead it until its not that soft anymore, same goes when creating a sphere. Dry them on stocked tissues.

      Elmers glue overcooks too quickly, try to cook an undercook one and mix it with the overcooked. It happened to me before when im still using Elmers, my finished product cracks itself when the clay is overcooked.

    Is there a need to coat it with varnish? Does it get moulds after sometime?

    • @ClayBum
      @ClayBum  2 роки тому +1

      It does if you place it in humid place. You should avoid that and avoid direct sunlight also. You put varnish if you want to, any varnish will do :)

    • @musicmelon4618
      @musicmelon4618 2 роки тому

      @@ClayBum i have a small keychain business i always coat it with 2 layers of varnish. I use chalk pastles for the details. But when i apply varnish, the power gets mixed up. The product looks better without the varnish. But im afraid it migh get mould as the climate here is humid. Btw your works are so cool. I learned a lot from your channel. Thanks a lot❤️❤️❤️

    • @ClayBum
      @ClayBum  2 роки тому +1

      @@musicmelon4618 I understand. I also preferred it unsealed. But if they will use it as a keychain, it’s better to sealed it. Hmmm you could try using uv resin for me it’s a bit better than regular varnish. If you are using air dry clay with soft pastel use spray paint but spray it long range so it will not mess the pastel. If you are using polymer clay no need to coat it just put pastel before you cook it in the oven.

    Hi.. my clay has gone unflattened after drying.. it's not in the same shape.. it was flat when I made it.. but after drying it's not flat

    • @ClayBum
      @ClayBum  3 роки тому

      Hello. It's because it didn't dry equally and because it's too thin to dry it flat.

    What is the time for drying before painting the porcelain clay?

    • @ClayBum
      @ClayBum  4 роки тому

      It depends on you it can be 1-3 days. Can be painted half dried, but best time to paint it is fully dried.

    Is this the same recipe you showed us before? I don't understand where I go wrong because I followed the recipe exactly and it is very breakable, I mean is not very rezistent, if I pull a little bit ...it's broken. How can I make it to be very tough, hard as a rock?

    • @ClayBum
      @ClayBum  4 роки тому +2

      Aww. Yes that's it. The clay that I cooked in pan. Are you sure you followed the exact recipe? 1:1 100% cornstarch and white glue.? Some white glue isn't that finer like the glue I'm using. Are you using the same white glue? If yes and yes. Then it has to be on the way you cooked it, you overcooked it if it breaks easily. It's trial and error, but undercooked is better than overcooked.

      @@ClayBum Thank you so much for the answer, that was a quick answer and I appreciate it a lot!! Yes, I followed the cooked recipe and I made it just twice :) but as you said, maybe the glue wasn't good or maybe I overcooked it. I will try it again and again for sure because I want to make some projects and I love how your work is done, I admire your art!! Of course, there is much work to do for me but I wanted to be sure that is possible for the clay to be hard as a rock!! Thank you, kindly!! You are very sweet!!

      @ClayBum  4 роки тому

      @@danamaximilian3998 Thank you! I'm sure you'll get it eventually 😁 just don't overcook it. I overcooked mine way back when i was just starting and the finished sculpture is breaking and cracking itself. Can I know what is the brand of your glue?? I don't want you to waste ingredients the next time. So its better if we figure the problem now. :)
