Camp Ripley Military Trains on the BNSF in Minnesota -Tanks, Artillery, APCs, and more-

- A few times a year, there are special military trains that run in Minnesota. These start at Camp Ripley, and can go anywhere in the nation for training, deployment, or if equipment needs any sort of overhaul or repair.
In this video, we'll see not only one, but TWO Camp Ripley trains in a single day on the BNSF Staples Sub. Both of these trains were coming back from Barstow, California and were heading to the military base for unloading. The first train was lead by a still Santa Fe painted GP60, and a EMD GP50 trailing. The second trains lead locomotive was also a former Santa Fe and Burlington Northern geep, but both now having been rebuilt and in BNSF colors.
Each train had a mix of APCs, Abrams tanks, medical vehicles, and other interesting equipment one doesn't typically see. This was certainly a rare move; especially seeing two following each other!

Trains and tanks...two of my favorite interests rolled into one!
Same ❤️🤝❤️
It has always been interesting that there is just a couple of geeps pulling all that.
Great catch! Hwy 10 NW of the cities is one of the best corridors for non-invasive trainspotting. Depending on traffic, you can get ahead of a train easily. Used to live in Big Lake and enjoyed my commute because of this. My favorite time to catch a train was right after a fresh snow but before the plows got all of the crossings. Something very magical about a train in the snow at night.
I've never seem them move military equipment in the day - only at night.
Thanks for the comment! It was certainly a treat to see this, and two right in a row at that.
Nice catch. Great to see a regular cab GP60 strutting it's stuff, and still in Blue none the less! Best looking of all the Geeps in my opinion. Cheers.
Thank you very much! Seeing one of these in a day was nice, but seeing the second with that leader was a great catch. Thanks for watching!
They do have a Area in Minneapolis called Northern pump. Where they build Tanks. And other military support vehicles. Some serious fire power being assemble.
Thank you for the comment! They used to build stuff there, but half of the plant was recently torn down and replaced with new offices and a brewery.
My uncle worked there Art Hoff and my Nabors in Nordeast Minneapolis. They lived by the Columbia golf course Saint Anthony Boulevard, Soo line railroad yard.area. and the old Norwegian Park. Saint Anthony Blvd goes through all the way down to the Burlington Northern railroad yards. To the NSP plant. Edison High was the high school that I went to. graduated in 76
Thanks for posting your videos. brings back memories.
@@anthonyzimba3601 Glad you enjoyed them, and thank you for the kind comment!
@@anthonyzimba3601 you and i must know some of the same people. Did you know Scott Lennart or Tim Derosier?
Seeing the old Bluebonnet Geep pulling that military move is certainly one for the ages! Great catches!
Two see that much armor being moved around implies a huge war on the horizon.
Thanks for the comment! This is part a normal move which occurs a few times each year.
Great video. I shared this on the "Military Vehicle Sightings" group on fb.

@@SD457500 You are very welcome and always nice to see good things.
Wow!
Freedom baby right there brothers and sisters ❗🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
@@CaucasianHebrew thanks for keeping me informed ❗And If I may enlighten you to the benefits of a vaccine shot for yourself 💉💉💉💉💉💉😁
I beg to differ. Wasted tax payer money on violence, murder and the manipulation of the media to convince the weak minded that this is "for our safety" & "preserve freedom" for somebody. Keeps the money rolling in to feed the munitions and equipment mfgr's. Its a matter of ego and greed by whatever power hungry souless entities reside within the dod, the bringers of death, they feed on blood.
I aw a train fully loaded with tanks, and I was wondering to they have special weight-bearing cars for them, cause even one seems like an awful lot of weight for one car.
Out in our part of the country the military always seems to use CSX.
Wonder if they went all the way into Ripley over that combo rail/highway bridge over the Mississippi?
They eventually did; this entire train will run into the camp for unloading. Thanks for watching, and the comment.
খুব সুন্দর একটি ভিডিও দেখলাম
The unit is probably the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) of the 34th Infantry Division. Heading to/from National Training Center in Ft Irwin?
Thanks for the comment; these were going back to Camp Ripley in Minnesota. I had heard these came from Fort Irwin in California after a few training operations.
Wowwwww....
Anyone think of Red Alert 2?
Preparing for Chinese pla that's in Canada!
Can you verify that this train was going to Camp Ripley? It was seen on several webcams going east on the BNSF transcon line
Thanks for the comment and watching. Yes, I am sure of these both going to Camp Ripley.
@@SD457500 I was not in the Millitary so that is that
If Camp Ripley, unit probably was the 1st armored brigade of the 34th infantry division. There rotation at the National Training Center was in 2020. Equipment would have been on the move.
Send me there!

Thanks for the comment! Yes sir, and these moves happen a few times a year, but seeing two of these in a single day is a rare sight in Minnesota.
Don’t y’all get it you can’t winnnnn
Shame these railways aren't maintained properly
You will soon see why it’s here
Thanks for the comment, and watching! These moves happen a few times for a year for normal training operations, nothing out of the ordinary to see.
