Many Roman Imperial denarii found their way to the so-called Barbaricum territory and became the subject of numerous different imitations. These fakes, mostly produced in Eastern Europe, were often used in international exchange but also played a role among the barbarians. This Money Talk will focus on the chronology, typology, and production techniques of both the imitations and copies of Roman denarii.

In my opinion, counterfeit money or coin is the currency of choice of criminals such as drug dealers, gamblers, slave traders etc. Historically and currently, the white Slavic trade was and is very active in Ukraine and Moldavia. In my opinion, the hoards of counterfeit coins found in Ukraine and Moldavia belonged to slave traders.
