He’s a friend, but I also don’t know the guy
That’s how it is with gaming friendships, if we’re going to be honest. A lot will say someone is a friend, doesn’t mean you know about all the skeletons they’re hiding. Look at how to catch a predator, there was, military, professors, people with high paying jobs that. You never would expect to be doing something like that.
I've had many friends online that I played games with for years and years that I never met in person and didn't know a single thing about their personal life. Same thing.

He was just trying to explain to them, he’s a friend that I made through gaming but. I don’t know his personal life like that nor did we actually hang out like that

That's exactly what it's gotta be. I mean, maybe they didn't know. But still, you have to separate yourself from people with sudden happenings like this, unfortunately, because you'll get just as much hate. People will start calling you out saying "oh he's friends with p3dos, or oh you don't care about children, or "I bet your DMs are just as bad. Show them to us" etc etc... You can DEFINITELY separate the art, from the artist.
You don't necessarily have to be the guy's best friend forever, but it's actually a smart (business) decision to separate yourself from a person in the midst of controversy.

Because it’s seems like they’ve deleted the messages so know we don’t know what all was said. Only that doc said it was taken care of and he was was paid out his contract.

It all depends on the content and context of those messages. Simply talking/texting with a minor is not illegal per say, however if its heavily inappropriate or obvious solicitation, then Police should get involved

Him editing the tweet does matter because he edited out the part where he said she was a minor. You can view edit history and people saw where he edited that part out, so he did know.
Gotta take into account this is docs side of the story so he probably watered it down to make it not sound as bad even though it's still bad
