Unfortunately I only use Revit LT as I am just a small company and doing small housing (I only do a handful of jobs per year as I still work full time somewhere else) Do you have any recommendations for real time rendering for Revit LT (doesn't except 3rd party plugins). Such as exporting the 3d model? For now I'm stuck with cloud rendering 😭
@@TheRevitKid Revit LT enables you to export FBX. So you can have a workflow using TwinMotion - export FBX (there's no Twinmotion plugin for LT so do it as standalone export), import FBX into TwinMotion. You can work in TwinMotion. Once you re-export edited FBX from Revit LT, the model can be updated in TwinMotion. Materials assigned in Twinmotion should stay as they were. I haven't used this workflow so I don't know how practical or impractical it is - if things brake much when FBX file is chnaged.
BIM is crazy...... for 18 years i worked as an engineer draftsman, I made formwork and reinforcement plans. for the first 5 years i worked in 2d. And the the BIM came and wow now you can model everything in 3d. And then there was a time you have to make everything in 3d because the construction worker could not read the reinforcement plans wihout seeing it in 3d. for now some people want to create everything 1 to 1. but I thing that is to much. you have to find the right LOD. Now I'm doing preliminary drafts and draft plans for Deutsche Bahn with Revit. After working with Revit for 1 year now i have learned a lot from your videos, And now i have to Lear a lot more. 😅
Hello, I hope you reply on this I've seen your floor plan that looks extremely awesome and clean, and i was wondering how can i make the same room tag with only numbers and a small legend close to my floor plan?
Im a beginner technical designer for the industrie and its hard to put the right things on building plans to make everything make sense without putting too much information or detailing on it not to make it too complicated to find that information. You have to keep in mind that a 4 year old needs to understand the building plans or else it will be a mess on site.

I see and read ALL comments! ;) - I did a review of VRay for Revit 4 years ago (therevitkid.blogspot.com/2016/05/v-ray-for-revit-case-study.html) ... I know it has come a long way but you cant beat the simplicity (with quality) of Enscape, TM, or Lumion. I am a fan of VRay and the quality it produces, it's just too clunky to run on top of another clunky program (Revit).... IMO - If you are going to use VRay, export your model and use it inside of 3DS Max.

My first experience with your videos was on creating a standing seam metal roof in Revit using a curtain wall over a roof which worked great, was easy to follow, and made sense as a work around. Also, just viewed your video on ductwork which is good. I am a structural engineer with 35 years experience. I started with hand drafting in 1981, AutoCAD in 1990, and Revit in 2015 and have been honing in on creating templates in both AutoCAD and Revit that produce top quality plan and detail documents that incorporate standards developed from as far back as the 1920's (My early bosses mentors). I look forward to sharing with you moving forward! Thanks again!

My supervisor tried to include colors in our CD and we got shut down because the plans will be reproduced and color ink is too dam expensive. There is a trend in this business that looks at graphics as an expense. Sandly beyond getting the client there is very few contractors that want pretty graphics. We are in luk thought since BIM will soon make printed plans obsolete for field work and submittals. Maybe once the old generation rotates out we can finally have great looking construction documents and 3D details.
David s. - good news most builders are using PDF and computers to view your documents so if we can only get the building departments to do the same supervisors can’t use printers and ink as an excuse. It’s not about contractors wanting pretty graphics... it’s about your design intent being communicated accurately.
@@TheRevitKid yes. Funny thing is it seems on the arab world they do use color. At least for a long time they have. I have seen some examples on the web. I belive color is millons of time better than hatches. However changing municipal aproval standarts to digital is the barrier since they still require a fisical copy of the plan. Hopefully as BIM becomes the norm we may even forget about pdf and just submit a .ifc in the future.

I'm at the stage where I want to model everything so it can be reported in a material take off. Rafters in roofs, lintels etc.
The more you model in almost all cases the better off you’ll be!!!
If I'm not mistaken in an ordinary 3d view only one of the three adjustments makes any difference and that's the darkness of the shadows.
If your view is "shaded" and not hidden line, ambient also makes a difference.
Wish you finished your point on laser printers. I’m in the market for a A3+ printer and having a hard time getting good guidance.
Mine is inkjet currently.... There are TONS of options out there, though.
