I said it at the time, even did an in class presentation on it in college, but those Cork players treated Gerald McCarthy disgracefully. They may have served Cork well at one time but between 2007 and 2009 the Cork hurling team brought shame and dishonour to Cork hurling. They are the reason Cork haven't win an All Ireland in 8 years. Not the Manager, not the County Board. Will never forgive them for that and for sullying the name if a Cork man more legendary than they ever were or ever will be.

Well said minidazzler- Gerald McCarthy had five All Ireland medals before any of these lads came on the scene. These guys could have emulated that success if they weren't so busy striking. And just for the record- they were striking long before Gerald McCarthy came on the scene as Cork manager in their quest for player power- the likes of Kilkenny and Kerry wouldn't put up with this nonsense- which is why they are top of the hurling and football pile!

In almost every case strike action damages the institution and it can take years for wounds to heal and for normal order to be restored. The players may have felt that they had no alternative but I believe that time has proven them wrong, no All Ireland since 05 or final since 06 is the proof.

@FitzyRedStrat Ah ya but codys good like..anyone could see that!! Its no offense to gerald. Im sure he's a a nice man but he hadnt a clue what he was doing. Im not meaning to go offending people but the players weren't treated right. They were given plates of greasy chips after matches and the drills they did were stuff for u12s to be doing. It just frustrates me when people comment and havent a clue what they're on about..im not trying to insult or start fights here. X

    Hey Fanuite
I understand what you are saying but I dont agree in how the cork players are going about this situation. They wont even sit in the same room as McCarthy and discuss things and this is coming from the same players that say they wont to sort things out. They are never going to sort the problem this way.
To be honest I feel like players have too much power nowadays and it shouldnt be like that cause it ruins the sport.
If they dont sort the problem by June will u support Cork?

I'm neutral on the whole bloody issue. The way I see it both sides should stop their griping and come to a reasonable and bloody sensible conclusion. we're the laughin stock of the gaa right now. This needs to stop, one way or another.
Please lets get back to playin the game that means so much to us as a county UNITED!!!!
    Not divided.

    Fanuithe
But from the county boards point they cant be seen to giving into the players demand, if they do that then the players in every other county knows that if they dont want the manage to be in charge anymore all they have to do strike and they will get there way, this will ruin the game. I think why every county outside Cork are against the players because this isnt the first time Cork has gone on strike in the last couple of yrs and people think they are a bunch of moaners.

528 fans at the Cork v Wexford game today..over 50% of them from Wexford. Cork GAA fans were shown up in a bad light today...worst supported football team in the country by a mile.

Im sorry fanuithe cork is not the only county team in Ireland that train like professionals and has family and work commitments as well and they dont act this way. Its only the cork team that act like spoil brats, they have no right to choose there managers. U dont c Kerry, Tyrone Kilkenny players doing this (these are the teams that win All-Irelands) .For some reason Cork think are better than every one else. Thats why i feel the gaa should ban them from this years champship

Sorry who do the cork hurlers think they are? This is amateur sport not a professional sport the cork players should have no right deciding on who there managers is its up to the country board. The players are pathetic they love moaning about anything.
There not even any good at hurling any more when was the last time they won the all Ireland?
I HOPE THE GAA KICKS THEM OUT OF THE CHAMPSHIP TO TEACH A LESSON.
