I know we always complain about history teaching in Lebanon stops at 1975 or a decade or so before but actually as my kids went through the school system in the UK I could see that their history teaching stops at the end of WWII!!! My son even did a history GCSE and did not learn anything more recent.. so I'm curious to know how it is in other school systems around the world

He doesn’t have an agenda. Charles has a love of this land and seeks out unity.

@@Shook1917 are you saying i dont love my land and i dont seek out unity? What does this have to do with him giving inaccurate info!? Are you his spokesperson? Do u even know any info about history so u can give ur feedback here??
Ur a great example of the people we have who just defend others blindly infront of others and both r from the same ‘land’. You speak of unity, u didnt even know what i am refering to .. didnt even ask for clarification or example but u jump in to defend someone u probably never met infront of someone who u dont know.. pathetic really

If you are going to offer a criticism on his historical interpretation, then you need to offer specific examples of where his interpretation is incorrect. Otherwise you are just trolling.

Well that is a non-answer! You literally have offered no concrete evidence based criticism of where Hayek is wrong. For example I watched a recent interview where Hayek makes the point that Lebanon is a new country, whose history as an identifiable entity only goes back to 1920, and that historical narratives about Emir Fakhr ad-Din as the "father" of Lebanon are flawed because the concept of the territories he ruled existing as a separate Lebanese state did not exist in the 17th century. You didn't offer something like "according to [Such and Such famous historian}, the concept Lebanon as a separate country goes back to the XVIIIth century based on Emir Shehab's ...." or whatever...
You just assert that Hayek is "inaccurate" but you are not giving a specific counter example to prove that claim, and you are being nasty to anyone who questions your brilliance. It just comes off as whining....
I have watched several of Hayek's videos on his Heritage and Roots Instagram and watched a couple of his longer interview/lectures. He has done his homework, he has specific primary source document references, and his method of presentation on his Instagram channel is really nice and compelling for a younger audience who have very short attention spans (or old people like me who don't want to read another dense history book). Is it a PhD dissertation? No, it's not. It is educational outreach to get the younger generation interested in, and engaged with history, something that many people find boring.
I have not finished watching this video yet. But in a previous interview I saw with Hayek, he makes a point that we don't have to agree on history. It should be fun and we should debate it, but we shouldn't be hostage to it or allow it to be used as a weapon to keep the Lebanese people divided.
