I saw an original production at the theater de lys in 1970. Maybe it was because it was only 35 years after the Ruby/dick films, but the show was perfectly performed by 6 actors. Every other revival or redo of the show “didn’t get it.” Usually it was overdone by making the cast larger. But, it looks like this 1985 cast knew what they were doing! Just the right amounts of seriousness and playfulness.

That's because we had the original creative team. So we stuck very close to the original. We all had a ball and a long run at the Lamb's Theatre
