Absolutely loved this! I worked at Laura Ashley in the early 80s in one of the shops and this was one of my favorite magazines. It was by far one of my favorite places to work. The fabric and home furnishings were amazing and the clothes were perfection. Thank you ❤for sharing.
Lovely to hear from a former employee, thank you for writing Evelyn. I can still remember the sights, smells and sounds of the shops, especially the Argyll Street branch in London, which was a huge treat to visit. What a brand. xxx
@@isla_simpson I miss LA No.1 fragrance! We used to spritz the store and customers absolutely loved it. We also made sachets with the fabric and put them in the shopping bags. So much loveliness ❤We all were so sad when Laura passed away. I knew the company would immediately change and it did.Thank you again. 🙂
This was the first LA catalogue I bought I was 13 and bought it with my pocket money, it definitely inspired me and the first house I owned some 13 years later had LA fabric snd wallpaper in nearly every room ❤
Isla, you made me laugh about wanting all your tradespeople to arrive at your door looking like the well dressed gentleman in the catalogue. Sadly, those days have well and truly gone, as have the days of beautiful catalogues such as the one you are featuring here. Fascinating just watching you turn the pages with knowledgeable and meaningful commentary. I have a cottage which was done up in the 80s and still has its Laura Ashley wallpaper on the walls. Some needs remedial drops, and thanks to your help I've managed to identify what I currently have and to locate some vintage 80s rolls on eBay. Richard x from NZ
