  • This video explains how to move around features on a part with a G68.2 Tilted Work Plane Setup. It describes how to manipulate the sub-coordinate. I'm not a pro at this, but this video will give some insight into how this is done for others. Please save the comments about working in both metric and standard - it just is what it is.
This guy has a really great video that goes into MUCH more detail about Fanuc's G68.2 code: • FANUC G68.2 - 5-Axis T...
I think the reason that there is such variability between 3 mills and 3 similar fixtures is that there are minute differences between mills and tooling that add up to needing small changes to the feature positions.

    Very interesting.
Why didn’t you change the hole location individually but the whole coordinate shift? I would have guessed as the holes all have a different adjustment needed it would be better to control the position and it wouldn’t introduce position errors elsewhere

Good question. Sometimes, to move datum holes I'll use a work coordinate shift, i.e G57, but in this case the code is written one G68.2 for each feature. It's simple enough to move each as needed. But, in this way, if you need to move the datum features via the whole work coordinate, all features move along with it as the G68.2 is based off of the G57.

@@ericwhittaker3570 ah I see. I thought the holes were drilled so you got xy of the hole directly but it seems you are milling the hole, So hand editing the code of the hole location directly isn’t viable.

I'd love to, but I'm too busy to help more than my day job. I don't really get to post videos anymore either... Sorry man!

How'd you know? What gives that away? I'm no CAM guy, but I'm pretty sure our contractor was using Gibbs. I just learned how to get the part to meet print. ;)

@@ericwhittaker3570program format and comments. I work with similar machines and Gibbscam. "CS#2" is a dead give away for Gibbs
