Smashing, thanks! Just installed this into an ATX PSU using the PSU constant 5v as a power source and using the relay to close the PS ON to ground, with current free switching! ... Amazing, now have a 480w 12 volt remote / smart power supply :) .. thanks for taking the time to share :)
I figured out how to turn the Sonoff Basic RFR2 into a dry relay and installed it on my door. Works great. Now, I have the extra benefits of using a 433 MHz remote control to open my garage and retained the voice and app capability of the Basic.

BUT, how do we make physical changes to the Basic RF R2 or RF R3, to a dry relay so we can use it as a garage door opener controller? I want to use the RF side of the RF R2 or R3 with a remote. Can you show us how to change the Basic RFR2 to this type unit?, Please?

Hi sir, hope this finds you well, My 6 month old Sonoff basic R2 konked off ... I tried changing the relay, but it will not budge, it won't come on (sadly the original relay broke off while desoldering it out) (Also there is no glass fuse, its seems to be a 5 band 10 Ohms 5% resistor in its place inside a heat shrink tube).. ... Anyhow Funny though 5 other Sonoff basic R2's switches have been working for over three years perfectly well ... And this new unit circuit broke and I cannot figure what component has popped. ... I'd be totally thankful if you could guide me on how to fix it, please.
I would use an LM2596 DC to DC Buck converter. You can find them on Amazon.com. Connect the 24vdc to the input, Adjust the output to 5vdc and connect the 5vdc to the modified sonoff switch. Thanks for the question and good luck.

You can cut trace's to operate dry contact + powering the sonoff from AC
