Full frame, EF mount (so they can be speed boosted on the Komodo...yes!!), T2 with a good overall desqueeze for only $1K? And they are relatively sharp? Hell yessss!!! Excellent footage and it looks sharper than some other reviews I've seen of these lenses, which leads me to believe you had a more finalized version of the set (despite the shimming issues). I'm definitely gonna be looking into these!

Thank you for filming some test footage that actually explores the qualities of this lens-so many reviewers just compose the same shot they would on a spherical lens, just…wider. You are pushing the lens into the space where it becomes interesting, against lights, with meaningful depth, deep shadows.

The Image foremost is very pleasing and gives off that anamorphic character in a unique way imo. Especially being 1.5x in comparison to the other budget options out there. Of course with UA-cam compression I can only see so much but def impressed and would love to mess with these one day.

Great images! Were you using a speed booster on the S35 Komodo? Or did you push in on 6K stretched image. Trying to figure out desqueeze approach on S35 sensor (Canon C-70).

Man, these are really appealing. As a c300iii owner who’s stuck with a 16:9 sensor, the 1.5X has peaked my interest.
I know I’m not confined to 16:9 entirely but for $1000 a lens I could afford a full set as a holdover for the in-house camera until we get something with 4:3 anamorphic modes and go with a different 2X set down the road.

Good choice! And no the rear element is fixed! No movement.
Nice video! Thank you for your review. Just found that the lens could be difficult to focus as its focal plane is distorted, so for example, if the corner is in focus, the center is not. So it is hard to see if the main object is in focus or not...felt that some of the clips are out of focus...I saw some of other reviews, almost the same result...

Please do some 5:4, 4:3, and 3:2 ratio with these! 5:4 gives you a close to "flat" finish, 4:3 gives you Univisium finish (my fav), and 3:2 gives you Super Panavision 70 finish. All of which are narrower and nicer than scope IMO.

Pleasantly surprised to hear they're planning an EF mount version! Obviously I HIGHLY doubt they'll be compatible with a Komodo + Canon 0.71x combo, but a man can dream..
The EF Mount version will work with focal reducers

What are your thoughts on these vs the sirui saturn? Id be shooting on a super35 sensor, and I cant decide if I want more vintage characteristics or the 1.6x sharper squeeze!
I personally hate pin cushion distortion. And the Siruis don't have that classic anamorphic look. The blazars do a better job. And they are full frame too
@@CineDailies i think im on the same boat! Really like that imperfect vintage look Blazar always has with their lenses. The saturns cover fullframe too though which is pretty impressive for its size!

Set just got in Yesterday. Grabbed a few clips around the house. Looking at them, as much as I want to be mad at you for making me buy these..... damn if these don't have a whole look to them. They make me want to go shoot.

I never used the th great joy anamorphics so im not sure

right now hesitate between these and laowa's new x1.33 adapter, they claim to make sure minium loss in image quality, you get to use them with rangers, and you can adapt them to other cameras, so please test that adapter if possible, need some comparisons
This is almost a great testiment that its truly the person behind the camera who creates beautiful cinematography/images! Cause theres other videos out there the same time this video was uploaded and their footage looks terrible or they overlay horrible transitions/effects where you cant even see the test footage properly (stop adding mist diffusion other people). Congrats on making these lenses properly shine!

You guys haven't figured out you can use 3x reading glasses for looking at the camera monitor have you? I personally everything 1-feet from my face is blurry so I have to, but there is no going back. 3x magnification on the monitor could be the best thing ever. I have not tried bifocal reading glasses but those may work better.
These lenses seem to shine on crop sensors! Looking at some of the other reviews, using fullframe cameras, the edge distortion on the 45mm becomes very agressive.
You're so right! On s35 they just have that pop. It seems to balance out. The 65 is very nice on full frame Though

Did you try them with the mavo? This lenses are full frame so… how much can you rescue from the anamprphic image with the mavo?!!!
I did! They need shiming for the macro. But the Komodo looked find when getting a “sharp” image.
I have a s35 Mavo, but honestly these lenses look better on super 35mm
yeah that was my thinking.... mavo is s35 just like the bmpcc6k ... so was thinking how much image you lose when putting them on... cause we know the aspect ratio variation from FF to s35 but being anamorphic... is different @@CineDailies

Shimming seems to be a issues just by compairing sharpness at different aperture between deferent youtubers ! Some put the effort, some don’t !
