Its great how throughout the song it just keeps building up, making it sounding more dramatic and powerful the longer it goes on. making you feel more and more hopeless like you can never defeat him...
I don't know why but after this episode the idea of IMU or the Gorosei NOT being otherworldly got thrown out the window for me. That shit was something straight out of independence day.

@@crow9836 The destruction was somehow due to the mother flame, but yes in the anime it does point to the idea that the clouds were there to mask something that could be an ancient weapon, possibly Uranus.

@hamburguimmemes6312 it's gonna ruin the joke but I'll explain it. In the anime, it all started with the spazzing butterfly and then escalated all the way to the island's destruction. It's a reference to the "butterfly effect" in which the flapping of butterfly's wings can supposedly cause something completely unrelated like a typhoon.

for real, this part is fucking unbelievable.
Some theories I have on what the f*ck Imu is (Potential manga spoilers, such as the secret behind Blackbeard's power, and also huge spoilers for Imu's talk with Kobra). I put these theories starting with the least likely one:
- If Imu is related to Blackbeard, he could have multiple devil fruits. A combination of some mythical Zoan and unique Logia, for example, could explain his super weird appearance.
But that is extremely unlikely, as that would mean Imu is part of the "D" family, but it's never implied that the founding families were related by blood to one another.
- Another theory of mine that could explain his appearance is related to Imu's position as one that extinguishes light/knowledge from the world. If Oda took inspiration from other writers, perhaps Imu was inspired by Ungoliant from Tolkien's writing, and the fruit/one of the fruits he ate either transforms him into or allows him to control Unlight- darkness which is not a lack of light, but a presence of something.
- Third theory of mine is related to the way Imu acts, rather than his powers (Tho it is completely incompatible with my first theory). When reading the chapter in which he discussed "D" with Kobra, I got an impression that he was somewhat nostalgic, and in a scene much earlier in the story he cuts apart depictions of Luffy, Blackbeard and Shirahoshi, but holds portrait of Vivi in his hands- why such a drastic difference, especially since Luffy, Blackbeard and Vivi are all distant cousins?
My theory, is that Imu was in love with Nefertari, but when she left and later chose another it sparked Imu's jealousy/hatred which was the reason behind the war of the void century. But even after all this time Imu still feels something akin to love towards Nefertari, which is why he revealed himself to Kobra when Kobra mentioned her and why he held Vivi's poster instead of slashing it- because Vivi looks like Nefertari.
Why is this comment so underrated?

The *Possible Big Bad* and *Greater-Scope Villain/Bigger Bad* of the *Entire One Piece Series* Imu manages to *Outdo ALL of the Above (TV Tropes Cerebus Knight examples).* While the Series is *NO* stranger to *Seriously Menacing Villains,* they still had some *Funny Comedic Moments Dark Sense of Humour Comedy* of their own *(Kaido and Blackbeard)* or was a *Straight Man* in a *Comedic Situation (Akainu). Whenever Imu* and the *Gorosei* is on screen, *There is Absolutely NO Comedy NO Jokes NO Gags NO Humour NO Levity whatsoever* to break up the *Tension* of the situations at all *(Full On Serious/Always Serious Dark Grim Gloomy Humourless),* and *whenever* he/they gives out an order, *it always leads to a catastrophy/catastrophe.* The Darkest Scariest Knight of Cerebus Character of the Series. The *Nightmare Fuel Horror/Cosmic Horror Dark Fantasy Type Vibe One.*
