It is what it is. This isn't the first time that a company has overcharged for a collectible, and it's not going to be the last. It's cool that you like it, but I do feel bad for the people who truly do have buyers remorse and were expecting something with a bit more quality to it. Personally, even if I had the money, this isn't something that I would pick up, it's not for me, nor would I have the room to display it if I did want it. I have the Second Sight release of the movie, and that works for me.

If they had included some more swag, or maybe the rest of the series, then maybe I could see $150-$200 tops. But $300 for this? No way. I’d be curious if they actually put the tape in the VHS, because you know that no one that gets this is watching that thing.

I would never try to diminish the joy a collector would find in getting this set for themselves. I would say though it's a bit glorified for really what it ended up being, quite excessive for the price point when it's a spirit halloween chainsaw shell, I'd rather just get the 4k release on its own. This is a very neat gimmicky product but - that price is absolutely comically bonkers! I think these boutique labels have gone way too nutty with prices lately (and I get it - less people are buying physical media these days - thats why the prices have shot up so much) but I just have a hard time paying more that $25 for a new single movie release (and in this case - this should have topped out around $150).
I have mine on the shelf (it just came yesterday) and I don’t regret buying it at all. It was overpriced but I know if I didn’t get it that I would have been kicking myself down the road.

The cheapest gasoline powered chainsaw made by Stihl will cost you about 200 US$ here in Germany. Full sound effect included. And the smell of gasoline in the morning. Or … anytime. But of course, you’d have to add gas and bloo … red paint. All jokes aside: Beauty, or any worth above monetary means, for that matter is in the eye of the bolder. So, enjoy!

I'm a massive, massive Chainsaw fan for this 1st movie anyway. After watching this review, there is no way I would pay $300 for it. Had it been 100, yes, maybe, or even 100 uk pounds, I could justify. But tbh you're really paying. Just to display it. The vhs looks awesome, and if you can get your hands on the original tape from wizard video they go for some serious money amongst collectors. I'm glad I bought second sites version of this film as its the best it's ever looked. Great review, and it does look cool but not for that price unfortunately.
A few minor additions/changes, and I’d eat that price. Include the 2003 remake along with the bonus disc, and a copy of the soundtrack. It would also be nice to have a small, commemorative book. Also, replace that cheesey logo on the blade.

However, there would have to be a lot more features, to justify that ridiculous price. Two new documentaries, but most of the features have already appeared on previous editions. Instead of the plastic chain saw, I would rather have a full size replica of the original movie poster. They should have included much more than what's in the set. Apparently, Dark Sky is only trying to capitalize on the movie's legendary status. $100? Maybe. $300 is just highway robbery.

That saw is a 306 poulan replica. Which is wrong... the saw in the film was a poulan 245a. The gastank style on the collectible is the 306 style, not the 245a. And the color is wrong too. It's more yellow, but it's hard to find those vintage 245a with the previous color... So everyone thinks the saw is that greenish yellow color. It's not. Again, who makes that mask. It's pretty cool looking. It doesn't look like a tots

I see it this way, let's say you missed out on the Second Sight 4k and you're looking to pick up a 4k of this film then I'll say yes buy it. Right now the Second Sight version is $200 dollars, this set is available with the 4k copy of the film and a VHS copy with the chainsaw display for $300. I don't know about you but I'd rather pay an extra $100 for the 50th anniversary edition. My issue as a collector is the prices continue to go up and up, the new imprint Neverending story limited edition is $200 and it's hard to find any Limited edition for under $100 these days. I honestly think we are getting close to someone releasing a $500 or $600 dollar collection. I can only speak for myself but I'd say I easily spend two thousand a month on new 4ks or a new release or collection of some kind.

No one should give you a hard time for how you choose to spend your money - especially if it's on something that will bring you joy, that's connected to your favorite horror movie; I mean, if Blue Underground came out with a 40th anniversary limited edition 4K/VHS release of Rats: Night of Terror housed in a reproduction gas mask/yellow hazmat hoodie combo like those worn by "the men from Delta 2 - the ones from under the ground!" which featured Kurt yelling "It's filled with rats!" every time you opened it, I'd have to consider it! 😉
Its 300$ but in a couple of years the thing will be 1000$ so its worth it lord knows back in the day ive spent hundreds boozing the night away with nothing but a bad hangover to show for it. I also think it looks cool the box is awesome

Nice video brother. I'm the same on being a hardcore fan and was one of the biggest screen used prop wardrobe collectors of the tcm franchise including pt3 excalibur, nubbins and the Cook's pt2 coveralls and would've got it for the collection... but I feel extremely ripped off. I would let my feelings of disappointment out here as I'm sure others are going to in their reviews and comments. I love you Dark Sky Films but you really dropped the ball on this one. You were headed in the right direction but the bang for the buck on this when it should've been the end all be all edition isn't there to justify this purchase as once you take the movies out it's basically a glorified popcorn bucket to go see the movie in theaters with. All the 50th merch on the site could've been included for the 300. Oh I wondered why there was no sound effects, pulled the sticky tab off the little sound piece that looks like an old school black roach motel(not even a piece that has a on/off switch and replaceable watch battery like most things) then it played once, then played again broken up as I moved the saw, then nothing since.... defective for 300, then hearing people getting FREE "review" copies on top of it all, crumbling down receiving this in the mail and was to be the bright light to help get me through this hurricane that hit ga in dealing with damage, uprooted trees, no power, "no gas", just disappointment, sad and now broke when I could use that 300 to get through this storm damage. Fomo got the best of me, planet chh and other tcm collectors and podcasters. I will be messaging you dark sky to respectfully vent my frustration over this. Again it's just this release not anything else. I would like to know how the sound effects could be fixed, compensation, merch, partial refund and it should've been half price at the most! Worst release fumble of the year ..... so far.
It will never cease to amaze me how easily people are separated their money. That VHS is $35 tops and that 4K, let’s say $40, that leaves a flimsy, children’s toy chainsaw, which isn’t even full size, costing $225. That is insane when you consider that you could get a legitimate Poulin model 306a for that price 🤦🏻♂️

I think like the Black Maria edition it'll come down in price quite a bit after a while, i give it a few months and it'll be half price.

No one should give you a hard time for how you choose to spend your money - especially if it's on something that will bring you joy, that's connected to your favorite horror movie; I mean, if Blue Underground came out with a 40th anniversary limited edition 4K/VHS release of Rats: Night of Terror housed in a reproduction gas mask/yellow hazmat hoodie combo like those worn by "the men from Delta 2 - the ones from under the ground!" which featured Kurt yelling "It's filled with rats!" every time you opened it, I'd have to consider it! 😉

Its 300$ but in a couple of years the thing will be 1000$ so its worth it lord knows back in the day ive spent hundreds boozing the night away with nothing but a bad hangover to show for it. I also think it looks cool the box is awesome
I've heard you say that TCM is your favorite horror movie many times so I think you're exactly the demographic for a release like this one. It's going to make for an awesome display piece and you get the 4K and VHS to enjoy.
I think all physical media special editions are going way up in price and that's just the times we're living in. I'll never understand the crazy comments people leave judging what collectors decide to spend their money on. Get what you love and enjoy it. I hope you're happy with this one and I know it's going to look great in your movie room.

Nice video brother. I'm the same on being a hardcore fan and was one of the biggest screen used prop wardrobe collectors of the tcm franchise including pt3 excalibur, nubbins and the Cook's pt2 coveralls and would've got it for the collection... but I feel extremely ripped off. I would let my feelings of disappointment out here as I'm sure others are going to in their reviews and comments. I love you Dark Sky Films but you really dropped the ball on this one. You were headed in the right direction but the bang for the buck on this when it should've been the end all be all edition isn't there to justify this purchase as once you take the movies out it's basically a glorified popcorn bucket to go see the movie in theaters with. All the 50th merch on the site could've been included for the 300. Oh I wondered why there was no sound effects, pulled the sticky tab off the little sound piece that looks like an old school black roach motel(not even a piece that has a on/off switch and replaceable watch battery like most things) then it played once, then played again broken up as I moved the saw, then nothing since.... defective for 300, then hearing people getting FREE "review" copies on top of it all, crumbling down receiving this in the mail and was to be the bright light to help get me through this hurricane that hit ga in dealing with damage, uprooted trees, no power, "no gas", just disappointment, sad and now broke when I could use that 300 to get through this storm damage. Fomo got the best of me, planet chh and other tcm collectors and podcasters. I will be messaging you dark sky to respectfully vent my frustration over this. Again it's just this release not anything else. I would like to know how the sound effects could be fixed, compensation, merch, partial refund and it should've been half price at the most! Worst release fumble of the year ..... so far.
People that get that pressed about what you spend your money on...are just mad beacause they need a reason too be mad or upset with someone.
It will never cease to amaze me how easily people are separated their money. That VHS is $35 tops and that 4K, let’s say $40, that leaves a flimsy, children’s toy chainsaw, which isn’t even full size, costing $225. That is insane when you consider that you could get a legitimate Poulin model 306a for that price 🤦🏻♂️

Its not jealously, its the fact that these companies are ripping people off big time, and some are just such huge fans they'll buy whatever they put out and it just reinforces them to keep doing this. I feel bad for people who bought this, whether they're happy with it or not they got ripped off.
