I recently got a new house that came with all the kitchen appliances (very helpful). The fridge is a side by side and I found your video and it has been so helpful with making my fridge organized. I’m definitely a new subscriber now. Thank you.
I added liners to my door shelves, because then when there are messes I can just replace the wax paper liners or other drawer liners. I wipe down the other shelves with just soap and water when needed. I do a deep clean once or toss a year, since it is just the 2 of us in our home. We are retired with 3 grandchildren that visit once in a while for the day. (I love seeing your videos!)❤
I just moved out of a rental and I found that using the Mr. Clean magic eraser was time saving and miraculous at getting stuck on stuff off. I swear by this cleaning tool. Using it in my new home too as it needed a good cleaning.
I recently purchased several of the Rubbermaid Brilliance containers, and am absolutely loving them! Not only do they look nice in the refrigerator, but I particularly appreciate the "vacuum" feature. These containers are terrific!!
Whatever works for you is best!! I will say our apartment fridge/freezer was a side by side and I really didn't mind it! For some reason this one is so much smaller and wont fit the things I used to store all the time.
@@SophisticatedOrganization all refrigerators are not created equal!! The size of a fridge absolutely matters and I could totally understand how this one is not meeting your needs. We recently had to replace appliances (not a fun expense) but it’s nice to choose exactly what you want (within the scope of what you can actually put your hands on these days 😜)
I’ve had side by side and pull out freezer/fridge on top (in garage now because it doesn’t fit inside at this house 😫). Hate side by sides!!!! Glad to see an organization video for these, feel like I don’t see them as much.
Something I find helpful is to have plastic fridge mats on my fridge shelves if something spills you can just wipe the mat. they really help to keep my fridge clean. ❤️🇬🇧
Yes-I do SO agree. I am going to be in the market for a new fridge sometime in the next year or so. I have decided long ago I prefer a freezer on the bottom, fridge on the top. I was amazed when I first started looking at various models how much the interior design of fridges has been improved-its fabulous! SO much easier to access everything in the fridge, and now the freezers have drawers and not just a huge basket as they did years ago! Having everything easy access becomes more important as we get older, how great is it that new designers have made this appliance better for us all, young and old!
We have the same small side by side. One of these years we are buying one like you describe your basement fridge. But we also want (need) to keep this one for a second one. Don't have room in our basement laundry room for we have three deep freezers and two large commercial wire shelving units in there. We buy a whole hog, half a cow and a whole bison and need the freezer space. Although we could rent locker space at the processors freezer but they are located over an hour away. We do pull all appliances out three times a year to clean under them, clean compressor coils and take off back of drier to clear out exhaust vent hose and inspect heat element
I hate side by side refrigerators for the fact it doesn't have enough space, however I love the look of you and watching videos of how to organize refrigerators and freezer. Thank you for making great content.
I agree with about different types of fridges, I love my French door fridge w freezer on the bottom. I try to do a weekly decluttering of older foods and monthly I wash the shelves that became dirty and I do a quarterly deep cleaning of the fridge
I have the fridge on top, freezer on bottom. Replacement for a side by side that I loathed, cussed at it daily! The freezer compartment was so hard to keep organized the way I wanted because things had to be piled on top of each other. Hard to visualize things as well. Love this one. Stays organized and I can see what I have/need easily. I clean spills as I see them, wipe it all out on weekends. Deep clean about every 3 months.
I have a Samsung with French doors & freezer in bottom. I hate it. The ice maker (which no longer works, apparently is a common thing with Samsung) takes up so much space inside. Even though it looks like it would hold more it is poorly design. Wish I had thought that one through. I can't wait to see you organize yours. Hopefully it will help me. 🤪
I know this is an old comment but I have that fridge too. I’m getting a new one delivered tomorrow and I’m here watching organization videos. Can’t wait to see that Samsung go. It’s been a pain.
I love those rolled containers, too! We have to do our condiments in the fridge instead of on the door and it helps so much to not have to dig out the fridge to gt to something in the back!
I love your content and was motivated to clean out my refrigerator and freezer. I am also investing in two of the items in your Share-S-Cart to help with one area in my frig and one in my freezer. Thank you so much for not only the motivation but the organizer recommendations!
Hey Sophie, hope all is well. Hugs for baby Owen 🥰. I deep clean my fridge average once a month and go in occasionally for a wipe down. I organized similar to you, like items together. Thanks again for sharing a great video ❤️💯🔥
I clean mine once a week before trash day and get rid of the food we have not eaten, and once a month I take it apart and clean before going to the grocery store and Costco. We got a top and bottom refrigerator about 7 years ago and put our side by side downstairs for the extras and holidays items or until it goes bye bye. I love going to Costco and buy meat too, but hate to cut the Chicken packages apart because I can not see the line on it.
I like this video!! I have an old side by side fridge/freezer and I absolutely hate it! I try to organize it, but it just doesnt work!!! Good thing I have a small deep freezer downstairs!!
I have had side by sides for years and can’t stand them. We are getting the three door with freezer in the bottom and I am looking forward to having a useable fridge and freezer in the near future. 😀
Great content! I can’t believe I haven’t thought about freezing pesto. I get the jars from Costco as well and don’t always use all of it before it expires. 🧐
I have a question for you, would you use your stashed bags to divide frozen veggies and fruits? we buy a big bag at Costco and I need a way to portion them out.
I had a side by side and did not like it! I couldn’t fit a turkey nor a frozen pizza in that freezer! I now have a French door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom and love it! I try to do a cleanout every week and a deep clean of the refrigerator seasonally (pull out shelves, wash the back and sides and all the the baskets on the doors).
I have trouble storing 1-lb tubes of ground beef in my deep freeze. Very hard to stack cylinders! I buy 100 lbs at a time, so would sure appreciate a suggestion?
I bought plastic baskets to sort things in my freezer. I put all my hamburger together, roasts and steaks , chicken and fish all in their own bins. I have a basket for ice cream treats , and one for frozen veggies. I bought cheap baskets at Walmart years ago, but nowadays they make fancy clear bins that are made for freezer use.
I absolutely loathe the freezer drawer fridge system 😬 it is such a pain in my ass lol. The drawer wastes a lot of space in the back and things always fall behind the drawer and I can never reach it without disassembling the drawer 🥴 I would prefer freezer door on the bottom but my husband and I plan on getting a WIDE side by side fridge/freezer in the future due to our 13” height difference 😂 he prefers freezer on top while I prefer it on the bottom. Side by side is a compromise because we don’t want to unnecessarily bend over to reach the part of the fridge/freezer we use the most often. The side by side will allow us easy access to what we need by placing it at our different eye levels.
If plastic write the expiration date on the bottom with a sharpie (1/23) if glass jar put white dot ⚪️ on barcode and write the date with the sharpie there (it will stand out but come off with the label - recycle ♻️ your glass jars)
Thank for sharing your ideas. Loved the idea of the stasher bags..had never seen them before. But looking online they are $35 Aus dollars for one sandwich bag...seriously. Is that what you paid for them there? When I win the lottery..lol
I almost need a mini fridge for all the long term residents: dressings, sauces, beverages just dominate and really leave very little room for actual food items! Ditto freezer, I recently learned that I need to store grains, beans and flours for 72 hours in the freezer. There is no room in there for this routine!!! So maybe a minifreezer is in my future, too? Anyone else living with small space but doing lots of home cooked meals in same predicaments?
I truly understand how you feel about the side by side refrigerator I had the exact GE one when I lived in an apartment I could not stand it,the freezer is way too narrow and barely hold anything the refrigerator part is no better When I moved into my new home I bought a French Door Refrigerator which I love the GE side by side was horrible to me

“ FILE… DON’T PILE” per Sophie!!
One of many things I have learned from Sophisticated Organization 💜
Would love to see a Costco haul! I always love seeing what people buy and gives me ideas for next time I go
That would be really fun! We need to do another costco run in a bit so I should film it!

They are awesome and you're right, seal so tight!
I know they have tight lids, but “vacuum”?
@@gattamom Yes, Vaccum!!
I am on spring break from teaching. This is a must do for tomorrow!
I love the ideas of containers and stacking items so they don't fall out like an avalanche . 😂 going to change that.!
So incredibly helpful seeing both fridge types organized! Thank you❤
You are so welcome!
Thank you SO much for the ‘cart’ info it will make it SO much easier than hunting things down as I’ve done in the past 😊👏
I’m actually like a side by side. But I’m only a 1 person household! I enjoy your videos! You give great ideas!
I have a family of 5 and also love my side by side!
I love side by side refrigerators. We recently replaced ours with another side by side. I find it easier to organize.

My routine is just like yours Sophie. A thorough clean of the fridge on the first Monday of the month, and a spot clean and purge of old items weekly.
Love that!

what size bags did you use for the bananas? I never thought about the weight difference between frozen and thawed meat.
Dumb question: why do you keep your rice vinegar in the fridge? I didn’t put know we were supposed to do that. Thanks in advance for your advice!
One food that never gets wasted in my home is cheese! 🧀

I only like the lighting in newer fridges which typically are s by s or the armoire type --- why no light in the top freezer model???

I deep clean every six months. I live alone and should I spill, I clean that immediately. I wipe shelves every two weeks before I go grocery shopping.
