the detail that he kept the 86 keychain that Natsuki made for him by his keys is so cute, i wish they actually stayed together, Mogi got alot of screentime and their relationship felt more special than of that with Mika the girl he got with in the end. i even remember when Natsuki cheered for Takumi and his passion and wanted him to succeed and was even worried about him when he was out racing and she sat in her room on the floor all sad. We didn't get these kind of scenes with Mika, she just fell for him because she felt bad after slapping him because she wrongly accused him of being a dick to her friend lol. And all they (Mika And Takumi) did was go on a date where they played golf. While with Natsuki we got christmas together, the whole school thing in season 1, the scenic car date with a kiss, and ofcourse this winter heroic rescue. Idk i just care as a viewer more for Natsuki than for Mika who was just plain boring

This scene... God did they put everything into this scene. It just show the importance of story when you want to make something epic. The racing part wasn't really different from what we are used to,maybe even more bland, appart from the fact that there is snow and he is racing solo. But the stakes alone managed to make it 10x times more epic. Like really, i think just this scene is worth years of experience in storytelling.
got pulled over by a cop listening to this song, destroying my local mountain. The officer was impressed with my driving skills, said he'd never seen someone so fast on this specific road in 10 years. I qualified for reckless driving, but he didn't give me the charge, only a ticket. Wouldn't change a thing. Probably the most fun/free I've felt in my whole life, but always remember to acknowledge your own mortality and value safety over everything.

Nobody talks about the 3rd stage movie but it’s sooooooo good. This scene alone made it but with the Christmas vibes and takumi graduating it was amazing
misconception the 86 in initial d isn't set up for drifting to say..... more so handling/racing. with drifting you don't need a perfect balanced car since it spends a large amount of time with no grip anyways you really just need a solid/stiff rear and a cushioned front ideally. while Takumi does drift a lot I think the car is more tuned/set up touge which is more similar to rally then drifting tbh. Takumi seams to preform what's called a clutch kick when taking tight corners and that initiates a drift while in rally I feel the hand break turn/Scandinavian flick is a more popular approach. Granted in rally most cars are awd so a clutch kick wouldn't be as effective I think.... I have a very surface level understanding tbh... :>

So glad my cousin showed me a glimpse of this anime when I was younger, I ended up watching it on my own years later (Months ago as of writing this), and I cannot tell you how much I love it and cars in general now. That cute little 86 keychain and its creator would unfortunately be forgotten not long after... It makes me a bit sad that Natsuki doesn't really make an appearance afterwards. I guess it's a way of telling that Takumi has already moved on, but still, there could've been at least *something.* Maybe memories of her really wasn't the most pleasing for Takumi(which makes too much sense to deny), or maybe Shigeno forgot. Wh'knows.
In my opinion, it was just showing that Takumi moved on and Natsuki moved on as well into her new life in tokyo. After Natsuki moved, Takumi really focused in on Project D and becoming a better racer so it makes sense that before he met Mika, he would move on from Natsuki. plus, she was cheating on him for money💀

In my opinion, it was just showing that Takumi moved on and Natsuki moved on as well into her new life in tokyo. After Natsuki moved, Takumi really focused in on Project D and becoming a better racer so it makes sense that before he met Mika, he would move on from Natsuki. plus, she was cheating on him for money💀
