I attained Samadhi two years ago and haven't been able to get it back. It happened at the lowest point in my life. I was dying on my bed blaming the world. Then I began to feel pity. Then, I resigned to die and suddenly I felt the greatest compassion for the world that I had ever felt. At this time, I pictured a flame in my mind and suddenly there was no difference between me and the Flame. I was a flame for all intents and purposes.
The supreme method to enter Samadhi is effortless; Samadhi isn't supposed to be difficult, atomism gets in the way.
For those who cannot embody the supreme method, there are crude methods which can aid one in entering Samadhi. I will list as many as i can conceive of:
Through complete physical exhaustion one may forget the indivual self and enter Samadhi.
During hypnagogia or hypnopompia one may forget the indivual self and enter Samadhi.
Through unbound compassion one may forget the individual self and enter Samadhi.
Through visualization of a flame (or any object) one may forget the individual self and enter Samadhi.
Through altruistic actions one may forget the individual self and enter samadhi.
Through perfect absorption meditation one may forget the individual self and enter Samadhi.
Through perfect absorption in sound one may forget the self and enter Samadhi.
After purification through penance or abnegation, with the removal of guilt, one may forget the self and enter Samadhi.
To enter Samadhi is to transcend the Jiva, or the illusion of individuality.
In order to prepare the mind for the Ultimate Reality it can be useful to decondition oneself from cultural programming-to transcend the illusion created by the corporate fiction called society.
Ultimately, The way to enter the higher states of consciousness is to purify thought until the true reality becomes manifest. Theres is no need to do stretches nor poses nor asanas nor mudras. There is no need to become vegan, unless meat eating is a cause for guilt within your illusion. One must remove doubt and exude trust and utter honesty within oneself.

Um, thats not a description of nirvikalpa samadhi. I mean, it literally means the attributeless. The state beyond being and non-being. No taste, no touch, no color, no shape, no attributes of any kind, no coming, no going, nothing arises, nothing subsides, nothing arises, beyond light, beyond darkness, no matter, no spirit, no self, no non-self, no world. no differences, no similarities, no presence of any kind, and no absence. The Absolute, the lap of The Infinite. The One. beyond The One.
    The _________

@@ggb2193 Yeah. Im sure I have a few times. Even lost time on those occasions (where memory stopped recording).
It may have been much more than a few though. I am unclear about whether it has been a couple times or many times: because there is a state in buddhism beyond “the formless jhana of equanimity” called “neither perception nor non-perception” and that I have been in numerous times using the buddhist method of getting there. It is impossible to describe *by definition* . It is technically not an experience. Beyond experience. I can’t decide if that is a nirvikalpa samadhi or something a bit different. And Im not sure who would know as theyd need to be advanced in both schools. Im not sure it matters though.

      @@ibperson7765 how you do it

    • @ibperson7765
      @ibperson7765 2 роки тому

@@seandafny There are two pathways that are similar; one is buddhist and one is advaitan.
Buddhist: go through the formless jhanas. They are: 1. Compassion/loving-kindness (metta). 2. Love (karuna) in all directions. 3. Joy (mudita). 4. Equanimity. 5 Neither-perception-nor-nonperception (dhyana). Dhyana is literally indescribable. By definition or by construction. Hard to explain. Thats why the weird translation of “neither percep..”. Some will reverse 1 and 2 from what I wrote. Also, many will call mudita “sympathetic joy” or “empathy”. That’s a ubiquitous Western mistake; it’s everywhere.
The difference between compassion and love is that with compassion you want them to feel better, you care. Love is more accepting and celebrating and liking and loving who at what they are. Like a fan sort’ve. “Omg I LOVE that guy” for example. Metta being more like mother theresa loving the poor or sick. With karuna, no desire that it change. The karuna, Joy, is just that: Joy. You take the attitude itself as the object. (For example with karuna you are meditating on someone or something you love, you are meditating on that feeling of love; it’s the object.) Equanimity is subtle and feels good but has not tingle, wide-awake peace and focus (but not intense or effortful focus). Search for and start-out with the 6R’s method on here if going the buddhist way. Karuna as example, the heart and attitude is joy, but the base is “infinite space”. If you are cerebral or need to give something to the brain, focus on infinite space (just imagine space, and it going forever).
Metta : base is other beings
Karuna : base is infinite space (so even “infinite space full of love” to connect the attitude to the base, or “Im meditating on love, and gently imagining infinite space when ness”. But the attitude is the object)
Mudita (which again is just Joy) : infinite consciousness
      Dhyana (Neither-perception-nor-nonperception) : infinite nothingness.
They say dhyana takes years to get to. A few say it doesn’t but in my experience they are mistaking deep equanimity (upekka) for dhyana. However, I have a couple tricks that work well. But start with metta in all directions for ten sittings using a guided 6R’s meditation. Helps to start out imagining a puppy or kid or something that melts your heart. Or that time everyone was sincerely hoping for someone to be ok or get something and they did. A warm feeling. You care. About all the beings. Forget that stuff about a friend then a neutral person then an enemy that is ridiculous and not what buddha taught. Do 6R’s. Those people have it right. I’ll write the dhyana tips one day soon. Probably outline the advaita path one day first. You might prefer that. But metta never failed to benefit anyone Id guess. You start with a spiritual friend but move to all directions pretty quickly, one or two sittings even sometimes. God bless good luck.
