omg Castle Swimmer!! I read it on Webtoon and I love it so much it's adorable !! and the lore is also so amazing the author did a great job worldbuilding :)
I love the Midnight Diner series. I love that the quirkiness of the people is just treated like a normal thing, like sometimes it's making me question things, but it is what it is, and the way they portrayed it is just so humane. Comforting series, one of my all-time favorites. So thank you for introducing Goodnight Tokyo, adding it to my read list!
I finally read Dracula just a year or two ago now, but I read it through Dracula Daily....which assembles things by order of date and essentially email newsletters the book to you in sections on the day of each bit, because the story is told through letters and journal entries and newspaper articles or such. It was pretty fun, and it was nice finally knowing the roots from which so many other movie adaptations and pop culture / fiction / whatever influences and etcetera have all descended from. But I can't really say how that experience does or doesn't compare to the experience of just reading it in its original order. Lol (I might fix that, one day, but not today.😂😅😁😁) 😊
Oh, Castle Swimmer! I read it back when it only had 20 chapters online, then paused reading so I could go back and have chapters to binge. In doing so I entirely forgot about it though 😅 It's wonderful to see that not only has has it continued, but ended up getting a physical published version. Although it's been a while from what I remember, it was a pretty cute and wholesome merperson romance. Although people who regularly read it may have a more informed opinion about it lol
That Dracula is STUNNING! It's one of my favorite classics! If you want it as an audiobook, please, PLEASE listen to the Re: Dracula audio drama/audiobook, it's the best one I've ever heard
I just bought teller of small fortunes from book of the month and I’m so excited about it. I’m so people are loving it and calling it cozy. Makes me even more excited it get it
I swear it is so hard to not buy new books that look good when you already have some to read that you haven't read!!!! Love you Jesse!!!! You're so funny!!!
Omg I am so excited that you picked up Teller of Small Fortunes!!!!!!!!! I hope you love it as much as I do because I truly think it's the perfect cozy read and it is definitely one of the top contenders for my book of the year
I recently picked up “Happily Never After” which is a romance about two people who I think professionally object at weddings and I’m super excited for it!!
I have not seen any of those to read. Ik lately tiktok had been my way to find books and seeing your haul a bit different just gave me some original ideas of books to check out! Thanks jesse!!!
Books I bought recently: A Light in the Window by Jan Karon, Miss Percy's Pocket Guide to the Care and Feeding of British Dragons by Quenby Olson, Before the coffee gets cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi (serendipitous!), Momo by Michael Ende, The Year of Reading Dangerously by Andy Miller and Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley. All from thrift stores, my favorite place to hunt for books. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on all of the ones you bought!
Some books that I bought recently are A Taste of Sage by Yaffa S. Santos, Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson, and My Throat an Open Grave by Tori Bovalino.
I've been drooling over that edition of Dracula too. I love Edward Gorey's work. If you're in the mood for something weird and kinda macabre, I'd recommend seeing if you're library system has anything by him.
My recent book purchases include: -morbidly yours by Ivy Fairbanks (I’m pretty sure I thought I was going to read that before Halloween, but it’s OK because I love a spooky book at any time) -bloodover bright haven by ML Wang And then these were some books I got for free at work: -dance of thieves by Mary E Pearson -a song of wraiths and ruin by Roseanne Brown -tempest of tea by hafsah faizel
I also picked up The Teller of Small Fortunes recently, as well as Blood Over Bright Haven. Hope to get to them soon, I love the idea of cozy fantasy, and I haven't heard a single bad thing about M. L. Wang's books!
I read Dracula a lot i first read it in middle school and then i started on a Classic monster story kick and i just got a book that you would love it's called the nightmare before kissmas it's about the prince of Christmas and the prince of Halloween trying to win the hand of princess of Easter but both of the princess don't want her hand they want each other it's like nightmare before Christmas meets Red white and Royal Blue
Wow, hope you enjoy some of the books you picked up! The Teller of Small Fortunes and The Lantern of Lost Memories sound right up my alley. The premise of The Lantern of Lost Memories reminds me of two anime, Death Parade (more psychological) and Hell Girl (more horror). I haven't been buying physical books, but I have bought a lot of digital audiobooks (mostly fantasies/cozy mysteries). If you want something with the same vibe as Midnight Diner, you might like the video game series, Coffee Talk (a character-driven game with a cafe open at night), or the anime series Bartender or Restaurant to Another World!
Love your vlogs and also love your videos talking about the books you’ve picked up! Recently picked up Blood Over Bright Haven by ML Wang! My friend picked up a copy as well so we are going to buddy read. :)
I just read "the lantern of lost memories " this year ! And it is sooo gooood you will absolutly love it . Can't wait to see and hear what you feel about it ! I need to talk about that last twisty part with someone please .
My Birthday was a few weeks ago and for the past couple of years I've been celebrating by going to a bookstore called McKay's. While I was there I got The Husband by Holly Gramanio, My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix, Jester by Brielle D. Porter, Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes, and Never Ever Getting Back Together by Sophie Gonzales.
Great Video Jesse and I’m still currently reading A Fire Endless by Rebecca Ross and then after I finally finish it I’m going to be diving into Earth Called By P.C Cast and I can’t wait 📖😊 Have a Great Day Jesse and Happy Reading 📖🙂
I love your Vlogs so much, but I also love videos like this! I did not know that Atsuhiro Yoshida's book had been translated into English!! That really excites me!😆💓 I haven't read “Goodnight Tokyo” yet, so I will try it!
You should pick up “We Used To Live Here” it is a horror and it is amazing! A lot like house of leaves with all the hidden messages and it is just a bizarrely twisted book! 5/5 ⭐️
hey jesse I am a huge fan of ur videos and I wanted to tell you something. let me first tell you my favorite type of videos to watch from you are your vlog videos and i watched a video where you were having some bobba tea and it made me wanna try it I tried all different kinds like brown sugar the purple one honey dew and matcha and the only one I absolutely loved was the matcha it was the perfect amount of sweetness and didn't taste watered down thank you for giving me the motivation to try bobba keep up the amazing work and happy reading ps: I'm currently reading the FNAF Fazbear freights series im on book 5 of 12 and I'm loving it!
Let me know how Olivetti is. I’ve thought of getting it to read to my younger brother. Also let me know how the teller of small fortunes is. I really want to reed that soon.
So first of all the title is on point. Secondly, I read dracula over Halloween (penguin clothbound classics edition) and honestly I was underwhelmed. I enjoyed the first section, but after that there's barely any dracula. And I know we're supposed to remember that the attitudes were of a certain time but sometimes the sexism radiating from Van Helsing is extortionate. I've seen the edition you've picked up and whilst I agree it's extremely pretty, velvet is one of my texture no-nos, and my fingernails and teeth felt wrong for a while after 😅. I hope you find more enjoyment in Dracula than I did
I just thrifted a book haul of 194 books for 27 dollars for my book giveway at applebees( 3701 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA 70002). I am the host there. I have given away over 2800 books for babies kids teens and adults in 10 months. Let's get this generation reading
I LOVE Castle Swimmer!! The dynamic between Kappa and Siren is amazing and the twists are twisty
omg Castle Swimmer!! I read it on Webtoon and I love it so much it's adorable !! and the lore is also so amazing the author did a great job worldbuilding :)
The gasp I gasped when I saw Castle Swimmer. I read it on webtoons. It's so cute and wholesome! I love it so much!
OMG Castle Swimmer is so lovely!! I would die for Kappa and Siren. When you finish the book, go online to read the rest of the story.
Oooooh Cackle I loved! I didn’t expect much going in but it’s cosy, the village sounds cute, it was eventful :) really good fun

I loved Cackle SO MUCH. Listened to the audiobook (which was fantastic) but had to get myself a physical copy as well!
Jessie, you gotta read The Way of Kings. It’s a big boy, but it’s worth it. You’ll never go back to YA fantasy ever again
I definitely want to add at least a couple of these to my own TBR now, for sure, thanks! 🤭🤭💖
You sold me on Olivetti with the typewriter pov, we need more stories with objects as the main characters lolol
CASTLE SWIMMER!!! I was reading it when it first started on Webtoon! It's so good, I think you are gonna like it~
Castle Swimmer is so good!!
Dracula was great! Read it! I'm also super jealous of your edition!
Castle Swimmer was the first Webtoon I read and I absolutly loved it ❤❤ It is so sweet but also tense and has action in it 😊 Definetly recommend it.
