Michael Jackson performing ‘Billie Jean’ in Seoul, South Korea at the Seoul Olympic Stadium (or the Jamsil Olympic Stadium) on October 11th, 1996. This is the 1st of 2 sold out shows, the 1st show being on October 11th. Both shows were performed for an audience of 50.000 people (which is 100.000 people in total he performed for at the Seoul shows)
THOUGHTS:
Michael is very slow here, and for some reason makes the whole song’s tempo seem slower as well, even if it isn’t. There’s a few things I like, such as the the first part of the 2nd verse, and the breakdown too (actually one of my favorites). There’s also a cool rare adlib at 4:46. But the rest is quite underwhelming due to him being slow because he’s sick, and his mic being turned on late.
I think Kaohsiung is the better ‘sick show’ for sure, and especially in Billie Jean. (I love the Kaohsiung show)

for some reason, I've always liked this performance despite his sickness and him being slow. However, I don't watch it often because even though I like it, it's uncomfortable to see him in pain while performing. It's an odd situation where I like the performance but I don't enjoy watching it. 🫤
I think this is the show that changed k pop,Michael's influence in South Korea is undeniable,not to mention that he's the biggest selling international artist of all time in South Korea and every k pop idol loves him and are inspired by every aspect of Michael's career,artists such as Bts,Blackpink,Twice,Aespa,Seventeen and many more.

I agree. I wasn't a huge fan of this performance. Breakdown, that adlib, and the instrument are the only good parts here.
I've always loved how this performance sounds, the only complaint I have (with all early HIStory shows) is the lack of the original tracks percussion elements during the breakdown, sounds boring to me. It's crazy to think that this performance is a year before the Johannesburg show. Both are slow but different. 1996 has more of Michael's classic precision that I like

Despite his sickness, I love this perfomance, has his charm.
In kaiosiung the playback was cut late too, is like tunis but more energic and is vocally better also the adlibs are very interesting Asian leg have many pearls.
