That dude is STILL making turbo Ferraris? Car and Driver did an article about him and IIRC a turbo Testarossa he built about 30 years ago. Good on him.
Came here to comment this, the article was about the cars he made for John Carmack, the creator of Doom. Haven't heard about him since, great to see him still going.
Serious respect for this guy. Personally i am a massive fan of ACTUALLY driving your cars, collector or not. And big respect for making big power Ferraris. Im a fan!
I agree too, cars are meant to be used and not just left in garages, I have a friend of Monaco {his instagram instagram.com/cardoso.collector/ if you are interested} who has an amazing collection of cars and motorcycles, and uses them all the time, he even has probably one of the most used LaFerrari and F40 on the planet, both over 60000km! I really admire who knows how to enjoy what I have, I try to do the same with my cars, but I'm not yet at the level of having a hypercar! hehe
Having 1100+ HP in the 90‘s was probably the craziest thing on Earth. I love this channel even more now, because Sam is showing us these not mainstream guys and it’s so cool to see and to listen. Thank you!
Casually mentioned flying a P51 Mustang. Bad ass! That F50 he's talking about belonged to John Carmack, he was the developer of Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D etc. He was a guest at Joe Rogan's podcast a couple of week ago and talked about his crazy Ferrari's. By the way, really enjoying your US content recently!
Cool to see my boy Joe and Bob killing it! Thats my painting of the 288 GTO over the work bench by the lathe. I did some machine work and help them out in the past.
Seen an article on him a while back. You really have to respect the fact that he keeps the exterior of his cars the way it should be instead of just murdering them with body kits and crap.
When you have such great content, and such iconic guests, don’t be shy about pushing your videos closer to 30 minutes. Your subscribers will not run away. We want more stories from these amazing people that we would never have known existed if not for your video. In a word, more.
Wow thx for this vid, it was interesting. I last saw Norwood in the late 90’s. He doesn’t look 20+yrs older. I remember some of those artifacts you showed from his old shop. I have VHS of the Carmack F40 posted when they just happened to show up while I was dynoing my Mustang. Now I am motivated to dig for Carmack's F50 and Testarossa video I have and post them up since it is now part of a historic story. Edit: I found the F50 vid now too, it was from a 1998 NOPI event. I posted it up.
Bob! Man, long time since I have been able to chat with him. He built up the motors for our drag race car for a couple of years. Some started from a block of billet. He is seriously a genius and really does have the best stories. He has turned a Ferrari engine block into a coffee table in his living room. It is pretty wicked. I spent a good hour just looking over all his parts bins at the years of spare Italian parts he has collected. And the cars... oh my. Anyways, great video. All of them have been a blast to watch. This one was a little more cooler though. ;)
Dude you legit put so much love and creativity into these videos!! I wasn't always a huge fan but over the years I've noticed your work ethic and i'm just impressed! Part of me wishes you had more subscribers, so you could make more money but I also like that you're not a sell out! Don't ever change my man
Such a wise man. He’s literally living in a forza horizon 4 life. 👍🏻 (Edit: Sam when are you also coming to Philadelphia? And if you do check out Algar Ferrari, unless you already have that planned. They have such a crazy collection as well)
Oh! John Carmac was just on the Joe Rogan Podcast talking about his Testarossa and his F50 being turbo'd by this guy, and now here's this guy talking about working on those cars! Neat!
OMG Bob Norwood! This man is a LEGEND! This video was such an awesome surprise! Lucky you Sam! :P I've been reading on his projects since i was a teenager (not to date myself, but that was a very long time ago).
I remember riding with bob to his house, and he showed me around the property.. every time he opened another door another bunch of amazing things got the show and tell treatment! Bob still might have a 330 2+2 i think... love this guy... love that he drives a lovely old pick up as his daily.. one of the most interesting people i've met! (big thank you to Tim and Derek P4 by norwood and red car restoration) One of the coolest trips i've ever been on. If you want a off the charts cool Ferrari, Bob and Tim are the guys! END OF STORY!
I LOVE Norwood Auto Italia in Addison, Bob's old exotic car service center. Literally has 458 challenge cars out front.. I got to hang out there when I worked at Top Speed Pro 1 just 2 miles down the road. John has a crazy nice Liberty Walk Murcielago that got serviced there along with his Ferrari.
The packaging is great, quality work. I wish more people would customize their cars regardless of value, enjoy it and make it your own. Hopefully that will start when the car bubble pops.
Engineering genius. I suppose one needs to make their fortune however and become passionate about doing crazy stuff. Ferrari purists must flip their wigs. I love when people chase their passions
I'm a huge fan, i've never seen a video of Mr Norwood at his shop before. I SO wish you had been able to get him talking about the incredibly amazing 330 P4 replicas he produces. I saw one in the background of one shot.
I watched this twice. UA-cam must have remembered me watching the John Carmack interview on JR. When he mentioned a Texas Ferrari tuner I immediately thought that needs it's own UA-cam channel.

Like the idea of hot roading Ferraris but I'd dial it a bit down, that Dino is a bit too much, but at the same time I love David Lee's "Monza Evo 3.6" (Dino with F40's V8)
to let everyone know it was making the clutch hot and sticking pretty bad , it had 4 - 2 mile drives before this...still needs shocks brakes clutch and some part throttle and off idle tuning (hence the stall) the jerking was a maxed out map sensor that's already been replaced ...I will post a few more vids when these are complete and hopefully have some dyno sheets for you

That dude is STILL making turbo Ferraris? Car and Driver did an article about him and IIRC a turbo Testarossa he built about 30 years ago. Good on him.
I remember reading that article when it came out.
That article was called "Doctor Yes and the Mad Ferraris". It was in a 1999 issue of Car & Driver.
It's shown at 9:50.
I read it too, they had to turn the boost down on the Testarossa because the car was like a bucking bronco. lol

@@mortenberg2897 why? because we stuck something better than stock in it? lolol

The turbo F50 needs to be found.
its been de turboed long ago and if I remember correctly was given away as a prize
I remember seeing the turbo F50 at the drag strip, I was 18-19 and I’m 39 now. Owner was one of my favorite video game developers of all time.
Dario M-car it’s John Carmack’s car ain’t it. Just today I came across his mentioning it on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
@Dario Ferdows I believe I have the video of the event. I found it and posted it up. I was there too.
