- Scotland’s railway is not just tracks and trains; it plays a vital role in our nation’s everyday life. That’s why we won’t stop investing and working until Scotland gets the railway it deserves. We’ve brought that journey towards a better railway to life in our new advert.

Got to say, I love the Class 385s up in Scotland. Network Rail is doing a great job! Maybe time, you started to speed up the lines in Scotland. Think the current max is 100 mph, when the rest of the UK has up to 125 mph.
I think this country's topography is against that happening. The sinuosity of our railways probably leaves very few stretches of straight track where acceleration to 125 from 100 would not be economic because the train would run out of track before it had to slow down again. I've never thought about it, but how long does it take a high speed train (of any sort) to accelerate from 100 to 125? The lines where that is possible (W & ECML) ScotRail does not provide the main service.
Hi Robbie, this is dependant on the train, therefore I would advise directing this question to the Train Operating Company. ^AH
So what is happening to the current diesel trains used in the Highlands.
2 misuses at Stevenston yesterday
Don't electrify the west highland line ever
Well they could have a third rail system.
I think they really want to start to run Class 800s or Class 802s on that line. Then have electrification done at the main stations. So when in stations, they can still have the heating etc on, but not use the diesel engines.
Fat chance o that
gsvalentine Why would they use 800s that’s an electric height speed train ?!?
👌👌👌
Anyone know the location @ 0:30
The coordinates are 56.651936, -4.863484. A beautiful spot. Hope that helps.
