    Song of Genuine Human Life
The song "They Will Remain in the Motherland" (어머니조국에 남아있으리) written by Ri Hyok Su and composed by People´s Artist So Jong Gon in Juche 77 or 1988 is the theme song of the Korean feature film "Ask Yourself", one of the Korean people´s favourite films. The film gives a deep explanation about where a man has to find his genuine ideal and happiness. The thematic and ideological content of the film gives a great impression, expressing itself through the emotional theme song. The song "They Will Remain in the Motherland" is loved and widely sung by the Korean people as it gave philosophical explanation about the human conscience devoted to the motherland and its value. (Voice of Korea 2015)
The other song in the movie is called: Joyful Pasture Road or Pleasant Grazing

Talent developed under the loving care (Voice of Korea 2015)
Kim Il Sung Prize Winner, Labour Hero and People´s Artist Pak Jong Ju, Director of the Korean Film Studio, is widely known to the people. His creative talents are unthinkable apart from the multi-part feature film "The Nation and Destiny", a masterpiece of the era. He directed most of the long film with more than 60 parts.
The great leader Kim Jong Il watched a serial of "The Nation and Destiny" and expressed great satisfaction, saying its directing methods and technique were new and Pak Jong Ju directed the film. His life shone under the loving care of the great Kim Jong Il.
Pak Jong Ju was born in Kwangju City, South Jolla Province, south Korea. During the past Fatherland Liberation War he lost his father by the US imperialists and was led by his mother to the northern half of Korea. He studied at today´s Pyongyang University of Dramatic and Cinematic Arts as he hoped.
In Juche 68 or 1979 Kim Jong Il enabled him, who had just graduated from the university, to study abroad so as to develop his talents.
After returning from abroad, he produced the feature film "A Woman Teacher" well and gave a great pleasure to President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
When he created the feature film "Ask Yourself", too, Kim Jong Il carefully watched every scene of the film and appreciated that the film was wonderful and a masterpiece and the direction was true and modern.
Later, he kindly said to Pak Jong Ju that a director should add what was missed in a scenario, delve into what was skimmed and make the poor content rich and he should boldly break with the older experiences and methods and constantly pursue new words and ways of description to create a peculiar film description. His instructions served as a guideline for art creation, which lingered in the mind of Pak Jong Ju. True to his instructions, Pak made efforts to produce each film wonderfully. Especially, the unique creative methods he showed in the course of creating the multi-part feature film "The Nation and Destiny" displayed his ability as director.
In December Juche 81 or 1992 Kim Jong Il met him and highly appreciated his talents. And he said our directors are praiseworthy and their mental world grew higher.
    Director Pak Jong Ju says:
"In the days of creating films I met great Kim Jong Il many a time and received his instructions. Each time I felt that he is the genius of literature and arts, and teacher and father of all of us. Now people praise me for having produced more than 100 films. Frankly speaking, I could complete all the films as he developed my talents and led me step by step."
Today respected Marshal Kim Jong Un is taking a warm care of him. In Juche 103 or 2014 he sent a birthday feast table to Pak Jong Ju on the occasion of his 70th birth anniversary. As the stars shine thanks to the sun, so the talents of the creators and artistes are shining like stars thanks to the boundlessly warm embrace of the peerlessly great men.

Loved the film full of beautiful music & scenery & showcased important things like food & love. Strong, wholesome & insightful characters, both female and male. Characters reflected on & admitted mistakes, accepted responsibility, loved each other, loved family. I enjoyed seeing this depiction of life & North Korean people. I admired the characters & what they strived for.

Beautiful film its astonishing that the DPRK makes such wonderful , positive films something not expected from a country that has such a negative image. But watching these DPRK films one has the suspicion that this country is deliberately being smeared bcoz its a society very different from its adversaries. Salute to DPRK cinema !

It's my understanding that Koreans from any part of the peninsula tend not to drink milk or eat dairy, so I'm guessing most of the cows are for beef

Cows are for plowing. You will get in trouble if you slaughter a young, healthy cow in North Korea. It is only allowed to eat a cow that died by itself.

It is because of the broadcasting and capture. In 1980s the North Koreans used 35mm film cameras to make their movies, just like they used to do at Paramount Studios in USA. The quality is bad because the television station reduces the quality and frame of the film to fit the TVs in North Korea (4:3 480p PAL).

These DPRK films tend to have a "Little House on the Prairie" feel to them. Despite being products of a state hostile to the US government, these films are much better made than what comes out of Hollywood :)

    • @johnclendaniel4762
      @johnclendaniel4762 6 років тому +4

Lot more wholesome than that Little House on the Prairie from what I hear. Many of the films are hostile to Imperialism and its Organized Criminality within the US State, not the Peoples of the US and their actual presence within the Government.
I like this one. The female lead grows through taking the moral challenge that she flippantly throws at her team leader seriously, and the team leader has success with one of his own daughters showing some moral character.
It points at the importance of closing the gap between certain more well off urban layers within the party and society, and its more selfless vanguard elements and masses.

Святослав Иванов I understand this now that I've really read more into the country's real shortage of livestock. Almost all North Koreans are vegetarians, not by choice, meat is just too expensive.

Emily Wilson Emily, 75 % territory North Korea - this is Mountains and Hills. Where graze (and What to feed) livestock ???????? And Only 20 % territory of North Korea for planting (Sowing) rice. And It always has been (and 100 years Ago, and 500 years Ago). In North Korea is No big Pastures for grazing livestock-cows (as in Russia Or USA). All Suitable Lands (in the North Korea) 20 % - Only under Rice (for sowing rice), but not for Cows (as in Mongolia - where Big Pastures). Any crop failures (in North Korea) or Flooding (as in 1990s years) and in DPRK very-very big problems. Good Lands (for Planting (Sowing) - in North Korea Very-Very Few-Slightly. (therefore and livestock (Cows) - very Few)

+Emily Wilson He has a point actually. North Korea could never feed itself from its own soil alone. It's a very rocky country. Had it not been for the sanctions, things would be much better.
