Hope you enjoyed this video. I don't vlog that often, so it's a bit different from my usual content. Let me know how you liked this more experience-based review. Everything except for the one iPhone shot is from the a9 III.

I'm new to seeing your videos but this one got me hooked and the pacing with plenty of travel shots interspersed works very well for me. Your enthusiasm comes across really well and it's just nice to see someone enjoy shooting and getting some great shots.
"I know this camera is complete overkill for travel and vlogging" - Bollocks, most travel content and vlogs on youtube look rubbish, people should start using better cameras. This one looks solid
I agree, but not $6000 cameras. $1300-4000 gibes plenty of quality options 😉
@@pascalbasel Probably yes! And of course, it's also about good lenses. People should invest more in those too, but it's not easy for travelers and vloggers if you want to travel light and swift. And microphones!
Yo that’s my country! Hope you’re having fun exploring. Some of the best footages of Vietnam I’ve ever seen. Good work!
This is a very nice camera ! Thanks so much for testing it ! ☀️☀️
That shot from inside the car at 14:40 is one of the best things I've seen in weeks.
Hello from Vietnam!
love your video🎉
Fantastic footage.
Welcome to Vietnam! Hope to see you in Ho Chi Minh City.
Already back in Thailand 😉
Amazing footage. Some of the best I’ve seen you put out. But you make every camera look good. I’ll stick with my X H2S
Thanks, X-H2S is the best choice in terms of value for the price in my opinion. It kills everything below $3000. Good choice ;-)
You are the first man to deeply review the a9 III in Vietnam lol
Looks like they may have finally improved the color science? Great vlog.
great i am looking into the camera i need in my country thank you very much.❤
I'm Vietnamese and I couldn't even imagine my contry can be beautiful like that in a vlog
Wish you have a nice time in Vietnam
Amazing low light quality
Its amazing camera 🎥
i love watching this video of you. review and experience 👍 feels like were in Vietman too🩷🩷🩷🩷
I mean, incredible.. anyone notice the jitters though?
I would love to see 1080p@240fps footage if possible.
Top Class!
Great video!
I might be biased though because, Ive back packed in Vietnam and recognised some of the places in your videos….plus, I’m a Sony shooter since 2017 (A7R3 & A7S3)…..plus I’m a Fujifilm shooter (GFX 50R). Like your comments at the end, I have the Sony when I need an all rounder, and the GFX 50R because it’s such a fun camera.
Great job, many thanks!
GFX 😍😍😍
@@pascalbasel the 50R is just such a fantastic camera*, it's awesome. I primarily use mine when I am shooting landscapes, so manual focus & manual exposure most of the time....& I adapt manual focus lenses to it.
(* if you don't need state of the art AF)
Awesome
Anyway, thanks for visting Vietnam!
Not really interested in Sony, but the style to test a camera like this is perfect👌🏻 Because that’s how many people use a camera. Outside in the field, vlogging, capturing B-Roll, handle back ground noise and trying to get some great shots. Very enjoyable to watch a review in this way ☺️ But the IBIS is quite jittery when walking fast. I know it’s not a gimbal, but I don’t know why Panasonic can handle it and other brands can’t 😅
Just from the image I still prefer the look from any fuji body, but the 20-70 F4 is an interesting lens and the Sony microphone working on the hotshoe is great. I already broke my microphone input on my XS10 and although other than that the camera was completely functional for me as a vlogger it was useless and I had to repair it. Hope fuji is doing something in this direction with the microphone. Or already did, don’t know the current state.
Yeah, it's also more fun to review like that.
I'm not sure about the IBIS. It's quite shaky when I vlog, but also had shots where filmed other stuff where I was pretty impressed. Don't want to use active or so due to the crops...
A mic like that would be great for Fuji. But I think their hotshot is not suitable for that yet unfortunately. I'm very excited for all the Viltrox releases this year, want to see if they bring the Sony closer to what I got with Fuji.
I have been watching reviews and you gave me what I wanted to know
tnx so much
Will Sony include LUT capability with firmware upgrades? or will it be passed by, Danke
7:15 Camera Conspiracy approves
It’s too much jittery when you walking…
Now we need this global shutter in a smaller cinema style body, perhaps FX3G ?
welcome to vietnam
The main reason I want global shutter is not because of skewed vertical lines with horizontal movement, but because of flickering lights. I think your low light shots would look worse with a rolling shutter because you probably have a lot of different lights with different flicker rates. Global shutter doesn’t eliminate light flicker, but it does make the flicker look a lot prettier and more consistent.
True, would be even better to eliminate it completely, but with slow motion that wasn't possible.
Welcome to Viet Nam. How you make that cinematic color? It's very nice.
Thanks for this one, I played around with Look Designer from Colorlab. But I usually use my Depthscape LUTs or FilmConvert.
@@pascalbasel Subscribed. Love video you sharing. Keep it up bro 🤩
Always love your videos, just need to encourage you to get into the HDR world. UA-cam now deals with it far better as does Vimeo and iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, TV screens can deal with HDR. I would warmly, with your skills, to try it, you won’t go back and you don’t need to worry about those videos not being played properly on UA-cam because it knows the device being used and will show the right type of video for the device. Just my humble observation and request.
Tried it already and got back as it’s not worth the effort.
@@pascalbasel lol, your are right, it is. I’m rubbish but now I find SDR dark. I was hoping you’d get hooked and use your skills to enlighten me. ☺️
where at in Vietnam is this? and what month would love to visit.
Hanoi and Sa Pa, beginning of March
Amazing review as always but it's not fair, you can make any camera look great 🤣
That's kinda the point of this channel. Expensive gear doesn't make your videos look much better, it's more other things like having everything in one body, better bodies, screens, rolling shutter etc. that make cameras worth more. When it comes to the look, lenses, light & color grading is what really makes it shine. Even that's not that hard: Viltrox prime lenses for cheap, lighting is basically two rules outside (watch my last video) and for color you have FilmConvert, my LUTs ;-), Look Designer by Colorlab & Resolve.
More than the camera, it's about the lens that you're using, the shots, the angles, the framing, the lighting & the color grading. And to kill all of these, you need skill which Pascal definitely has.
Great video… I really liked your footage. Good for you! Can’t say that the Fujifilm does everything the A9III does… unless the quality of results is not factored in.
Having owned both, and having compared both side by side, I can share that from my testing the Fujifilm XH2S did nothing better than the A9III. However the Sony did many things better than the Fujifilm:
• AF: Sony - just the best I’ve ever seen… better than my Canon R3. Fujifilm - do I need to?
• IBIS: Sony, with Dynamic Active - contender for the best currently available. XH2S - It has IBIS?… that I would use for video, that is?
• 1080p: Sony - excellent oversampled 1080p… cleans up organically in post if noise is present. XH2S - there’s a reason no one shoots in this mode… even though the1080p is oversampled. Nothing organic/filmic about the noise in 1080p.
• Exposure latitude: Sony - same as a Red V-Raptor. XH2S - Edged out from the top spot for mirrorless
I could go on. But the point is, if someone compares these two side by side. They will quickly realize there is actually a justification for why the Sony cost 2.5x more.
With that said… they are both great cameras… I only recently sold the XH2S… after testing side by side with the Sony ;-)
Thanks for listing the advantages as I couldn't compare them next to each other.
Over the past few months with the Fuji, I found the AF pretty reliable. The main downside is noticeable stepping on larger focus transitions (stronger or weaker depending on the lens, but always present). Certainly not Sony reliable but it didn't hold me back at all.
I don't use active stab but, you're right, that makes it a lot smoother. Same for 1080P, I never use it ;-)
Sony a9III is a better camera…but I’m sure that jn 90% of professional work with mirrorless camera, xh2s can do the same job as the sony a9iii and your client will not see the difference
Of course you are correct. It’s really only camera nerd like us that notice the difference. Unfortunately, that likely includes you also… G.A.S. is bad!
What LUT did you use form this video?
For this one, I played around with Look Designer from Colorlab. No LUT is used here.
How do you find the dynamic range?
What do you mean?
❤
you sure you cannot save WB in custom modes?
I mean the opposite. It saves it but I don’t want it to be saved, it should stay consistent across custom modes everytime I change it in any mode.
please compare a9 iii vs fujiflim xs-20 video comparison
Looks great , tho 20 mm is to narrow for vlogging in my opinion , 16mm is great
I prefer 16mm as well, but 20 gets the job done.
Amazing review as always Pascal, thank you so much. Did you film with ND filter (180° shutter rule) or did the A9 MIII the job well without any filter / shutter rule?
Filter all the time
Sickness motion, Osmo pocket 3 is still better for vlogging.
The only problem is that it just doesn't look good in the slightest. It's convenient and very effective, though it basically looks like a rear phone camera
Cheers so much but I believe you don't know how to set up your Sony cameras properly to get the Fuji film simulation look
I know of one guy who does and it looks better than Fuji's looks to me anyways because Fuji's are so played out and we need something new for a change
Also the autofocus will always be better 😊❤
I bought it, i also have a7r5 and a74....and a73 lol
Guys base iso is only a suggestion it doesn’t matter
That's only true if your scene requires less or the same dynamic range as your camera gives you at the desired signal to noise ratio. Lowering the ISO below base gives less dynamic range but also less noise. So to maximize the potential of your camera, you always want to shoot at base ISO. I'm assuming you're shooting log. In non-log profiles with less dynamic range, you're right as the dynamic range is limited by the profile and not the ISO. Gerald shows that very well: ua-cam.com/video/rLG_zlshlSA/v-deo.html
@@pascalbasel yea but not all shots need to adjusted
Almost perfect, except for the price...
The ode to Fujifilm lasted long lol
Watch till the end. I still use Fuji.
Was tempted for awhile. But then put my hands on Nikon Z8, and the temptation was over.
Its just too heavy for me, but looks like an awesome camera.
You really favor Arnold Schwarzenegger
This is an amazing camera, and you did an oustanding review. But I look forward to this technology moving out to a better IBIS system like Panasonic. The Sony lens mounting system is just too small to allow for good IBIS. While the dynamic range and frame rates on this are outstanding, the shaking while walking is not good. I love my Panasonic S5ii because I never even have to think about stabilization.
