Man I remember this mission. I was extremely late in arriving at the last missile. I was so high that the sky became dark blue. I knew I was about to stall any second but I kept following it, hoping I could get a lock on. At the very last second before my plane nose dived back to earth, I managed to get a lock on AND shoot it before it left the airspace. My hands were shaking. I never felt awesome before in my life since ace combat zero's last mission.

I made the horrible mistake of doing this mission in my flying brick of doom, (Read: A-10) So I had to BRRRRRt the first missile at near critical altitude, before stalling over and chasing down the second one.
Oddly enough, all aircraft here could function on carriers. The ASF-X _may_ have some issues but it could be like the F-35B and take off and land vertically.
I love how we immediately knew to do the mission again with a Mig31 as soon as we realized where this mission was going. I see y'all, including Project Aces, are men of culture also.

I used the Super Tomcat. Granted, I wasn't going for S-rank (mainly because, as it was my first time playing, I had no clue on how to even achieve such a rank)...
Ballistic missiles are almost impossible to intercept after they're done with the boost stage. You have to shoot them down when they're going up, because the warheads will rain down from orbit at like 25+ times the speed of sound.

magic spear 1 is about you having a field day flying around and hitting static targets, magic spear 2 is a bit less catchy in the music with a lot of the instruments humming in the background for that maximum focus because if you don't shoot these down the whole world is gonna be up to their neck in shit
I think its safe to say Trigger was enjoying himself in all the missions. I literally felt the sigh of excitement as they unlocked his weapons in the first Spare squadron mission.
I like playing Assault Horizon cause it was my first console AC game. But after playing this ICBM mission, I can finally see why the veterans of the game hated Assault Horizon so much and with a passion. Destroying those ICBMs in this mission was so satisfying without getting your face cooked in dogfight mode!
@@Spartanz1170 I agree on this. Seems to me like there is no reason to use an A10 in AC7 multiplayer. Perhaps a future update can add some other modes where we can use planes specialized on ground attack too.
Magic Spear I ? J A M Magic Spear II ? I feel like I'm on a quiz show taking the million dollar question while also defusing a bomb with my feet at the same time. Honestly though it's great how well it worked out basically reducing the song as if you're trying to thicken a sauce. The most important parts are still there but it has a different flavor.
The game seems so easy at times. Other times you just feel exhausted and have to remind yourself “cmon man now is no time to break”. And that’s really special about this game A lot of the hardest parts come at the end of already complex missions
The best part for this to kick in is when you hit a high g turn to get under the rocket and are like booking it towards the sky to catch up to the missle
If I happen to be on a missile when that part comes on, I'll dance around the missile for a few seconds before I shred it with my guns. Just makes the moment so....satisfying.
so i was playing project wingman recently, and i got to the mission where you need to defend the eminent domain from all the cruise missiles. you already know this was the first thing that i put on once i realised what was going on
That feeling I got when you're told to hunt down IRBMs was unforgettable. Let's just say it translates to "You want me to WHAT?!" This is my first and only ace combat game and was my first flight-shooter game ever. Boy was it unforgettable. Really wish the other games were out for PC. The first part of the music goes for pure disbelief and dread, the reality of having to chase down literal MISSILES sinking in. And somehow, it works. It's not even that hard! And that's when the melody of Magic Spear kicks back in, as your confidence returns. It's as if Trigger himself is telling us "Alright! Let's see what we can really do! Hang on tight!"
I was flying the YF-23 in this mission. Never have I felt so badass, in this game. Everyone depending on Trigger with the fastest plane and shooting down 2 ICBMs then heading straight to the last one shooting it from directly below. Strider Squadron be like: OOOOOHHHHHHHHHH
When you start pressing the afterburner buttons like crazy just to catch up to one IRBM to the next, plus the soundtrack keeping you on edge with two fighters tailing you with missile locks.

my favorite thing about this track is when the guitar riffs come in and add an extra layer to the track. It kinda reminds me of the Hrimfaxi OST from 5 where there was already a pre-existing track and they had an electric guitar just shred on top of it.

Use Dark Star if you really need to go fast, but yeah MiG-31B or F-15 are nice for fast movers.
