I recently got into homebrewing and have a few batches under my belt. My wife asked me to brew something she would like (she hates my IPAs lol), and while researching, I came across this video. I brewed this for her and she loves it! The only thing I did different was added 4oz of cane sugar with the second addition of DME to boost the ABV a bit (came out to 7.20%). Just wanted to circle back to say thank you for the great recipe and video!
This comment made my day. I’m really glad you and the Mrs. enjoyed it. It’s the only brew I’ve made multiple batches of and each time it was a crowd pleaser. And yes the abv is a bit on the crushable(low) side but adding sugar will definitely bump that adv. Keep on brewing and enjoy!
I wasn’t too sure what it would do to the beer but apparently it gave the beer a very subtle pepper note on the finish. Thank you for watching and commenting. Cheers!
That’s why I wanted to use kviek yeast myself. I was going camping just before I kegged and feared US-05 wouldn’t have finished fermentation by then. Luckily it was all done with days to spare.
I have a friend who came over and tested the water from my home. Turns out my water was not good for brewing. Too much chlorine. He later came back with a veriety of one gallon spring waters from our local stores and found one that was, according to him, perfect for brewing. So I resorted to spring water from our local Hannaford market. I should learn to fine tune the water profiles for future brews. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@@ericlaplante410 The recipe is for 2.5 gallons. I started with 2 gallons pre boil. During the boil I lost about .5 gallon. After the wort had cooled I added 1 gallon of cold spring water to bring it back up to the 2.5 gallon mark. The boil was not at full blast but rather a nice low rolling boil. The higher the flame the more evaporation you’ll get and the more water it will take to get beck to 2.5 gallons.
Oh my word!!!!! If it isn't the one and only Kernicus Rax. How have you been my friend? I Hope all is well. Oh man what a great surprise to hear from you. I am still partaking in pipe tobaccos and still enjoy the Tom Phillips pipe. Much has changed for the better here and cannot wait to get an update from you again. Be well my friend and cheers.
Great video! 🍻
Wow, the color comparison is so close…nicely done.

It looks like a great recipe. What did you do for the priming?
I got an orange wheat ale in the fermenter right now. Using kviek hoping to get it in the bottle in 4 days!
