I could listen to Kim Deal talk for hours on end. What a force of nature.
Last Splash is one of the greatest rock records of all time. The Breeders in general were ahead of their time. Interesting choice vocal melodies over top of interesting angular guitar riffs all while being noisey and catchy at the same time.
I bought the album for my 26th birthday last year (2021). I think that it's a perfect album for summer

Kim's charisma is so incredible that i can understand why Francis wouldn't let her shine in the Pixies... She would take over the band.
She would have been what Jenny Lewis was to Rilo Kiley. Eclipsed the male members and become the star. Although in the case of Pixies they were both equally talented, But the cute girl with the voice is always going to win out.
I played after Kelley’s band R ring. And I was a super fan. The back line drum set I had to use kept falling apart the whole show so I’d forgotten they were there by the end of my set. I started breaking down the kit when I heard someone behind me say “that was awesome what’s the name of your band?”. It was Kelley. don’t know if I would have been able to say hello if she hadn’t addressed me. She is a very nice person and a great songwriter/musician.
I wish they had a show. They’re so funny.

Yeah, not really. That’s what people that don’t have children say. Not understanding that the only time you feel absolute real love, real love, real… is when you have a child. Not a partner, not a spouse, not a family member, certainly not a pet… a child. Real true unbridled love. The only time in our existence as humans. That’s it. Unless you are a self centered sociopath that feels nothing for their child and those people feel nothing for nothing.

Clydesdale was actually a part of Scotland, now Lanarkshire.
The Clydesdale horse seemed to trip them up, first Kim wonders if they have them (horses) in England, then Josephine (who is herself English) tries to steer her, but doesn't seem to understand the geography of her own country, the Clyde is a Scottish river and ergo Clydsedale is in Scotland, not England.
