York is the city I was born and bred, I miss it so much, not watched all the way through but i hope you had a good walk round the bar walls, its beautiful as you see all the four corners of the city! Glad you enjoyed it and thankyou for visiting and giving me a look at my beloved York, much love from South Yorkshire ❤
Ok, so I watch your videos all the time--but when you went into the shop and said "Oh, it's 2019" I realized I really love your channel. It's the small things because you never know the politics of the UA-camrs you enjoy, and it's nice to know you're spending time with decent people.
Thankyou for Vlogging your trip to York look so historically interesting😀 looks like you had a blast That Yorkywrap look fab😋 I'm Sure Basil didn't mind you seeing all them cats😉 Makes you love and appreciate Basil even more🐈 💞💞
I lived in York for 18 years, born and grew up there. It has a monumental history and many sights to see, although it's now very commercialised, it's certainly worth the day out. The bar walls, minster, shambles street and it's hidden treasures, it has everything. For such a big city, it's very well preserved in its history, no outlandish modern structures or capitalised shopping centers, it's just a lovely place to be, I also recommend a walk round the York university to feed the ducks, a very peaceful setting indeed with its large lake in the centre and numerous public footpaths through the barracks and churches!
Good fun! I was there with my now Wife last October, it was fun to revisit some of the places through your vlog! You did some bits too we didn't get around to, so it was fun to see those. Hope you both had an amazing time!
@@icecranberry2148 Fair enough, in that case! I just think it'd be weird because while I'd not start fangirling, it's mostly the context of how I know Mike.
York is one of my favourite places to go. Glad you guys enjoyed it there (and I did not know about that cat cafe, definitely on my list for next visit)
I’m actually that tired from lack of sleep that I misread the title thinking it said “few days in New York” and I was like “This doesn’t look like New York” Because New York has sunlight lol 😂😂😂
Wow!!! Not sure what I loved best! So much beautiful history that as Americans we could never have...the cat cafe looked like so much fun! Thanks for sharing this 💜🤗🤗
The last time me and the wife were there the queues at the yorkie wrap and the viking centre were insane so we didn't bother going in to either of them...we did have a beautiful cruise up and down the river though ...it was the height of summer though so it's not surprising it was so busy....definitely need to go back during the winter months when it isn't so busy.
I went to York in September and visited this cat cafe and met some of the same cats in your video! 'The pretty one' is called Marley. :) Sat in the same spot as you guys actually! Here's a nugget: If you go upstairs and look out the back, there's one of the cats from the cat trail on the roof behind the cafe! Meow.
I was just in York today! Even if you were there, I was too busy at the National Railway Museum. Though I should've gone to look for the Cat Café, given the museum food is rubbish!
Hope you had a great time in York. I'm a Yorkshire lass. I live not far from York. I really must try a Yorkshire wrap. If you're ever in York again, may you come and visit Selby Abbey who just celebrated their 950th anniversary.
York is a lovely city. I seem to remember the McDonald’s was in a very old listed building, which amused me. It’s probably not there now, it was nearly 20 years ago when I went
that cat cafe looked really interesting and it looks like you really enjoyed that scone gracie, we have a purple cat cafe in glasgow , bonne mamman jam on the scones there , yummy, great video!
Hey Mike, York is one of my favourite cities and i'm glad you and Grace enjoyed your visit. A few notes: 1. Most of the Robert Thompson mice in the Minster are found in the Choir Stalls and the Choir Rehearsal room (which are not accessible by the public.) When I was a young boy I was a member of a guest choir that would perform in York Minster while the regular choir were on holiday. That started off my fascination with cathedrals which is something I still enjoy to this day. A Minster warden would have pointed out the ones in the stalls if you'd asked them to, though. 2. I know you're a bit of a gamer so did you know that Revolution Studio's offices are situated in the Shambles right where you mentioned going to the Harry Potter shops? It's easy to miss because it's just their logo hanging above a door. 3. Jorvik Viking Centre literally hasn't changed since I was last there about 25 years ago. The place was flooded a few years ago and was closed for a long time for restoration but it looks like they rebuilt it exactly as it was before the floods! 4. If you didn't go to the Railway Museum then you missed out, big time. Not only is it completely free but there's LOADS of stuff to do there and lots of things to see. The road train ride from the museum up to the Minster has to be experienced at least once, even in wet weather. 5. It's a shame you decided to get takeaways to eat each night as York has some absolutely fantastic pubs and restaurants. For a really interesting meal you could have gone to The House of The Trembling Madness where they serve some cracking beer alongside some unconventional yet delicious Yorkshire inspired dishes.
This is what I miss about living in Europe. You can't easily get some perspective and visit a place like this when you live in the U.S. or Australia. 🙁 I really enjoyed the tour, nevertheless! 👍
Awwwww you came to visit my home city. I love living here. So much to see and do all year round. Never been in the cat cafe as they don't allow children and I can't believe you were allowed to film in the Christmas shop. I was taking some photos in there a couple of weeks ago and I got told off. I haven't been to York in over 20 years. Nice to see the fudge shop is still there. And that cat café looked fun. I hope you had time for a Fat Rascal in Betty's Tea Room?

No, seriously, it's really low volume. Not sure if it's because of filiming on location or poor editing, but it's really quiet.
