I had the 71 fastback. It was great in a straight line but as this film shows, wollowed badly in a hard corner. Compared to the handling in my 2014 sport sedan there is so much more suspension improvement. However I still consider my 71 Cutlass to be the best car I've ever had and than includes BMWs, British and Mazda convertible sport cars.
People don't care anymore. They think that they are going to make the car in front of them go faster. Most aren't even looking out the windshield anyway, they're looking at their phone in their lap

Who has time to look out the windshield?

Too much Bodyroll and skinny tires for sudden jerking turns at speeds like that. Give that Cutlass some Wide Tires, Thick Sway bars and Lowering Springs with more Engine Torque and it will handle better.
Remember this back when they had those cheap slippery Bias ply tires that roll all over the place. When you turn. Not like the modern day grippy radial ply tire from goodyear or pilot mechlins
I agree 100%. My father needed just one income for 9 children. His wife stayed home. Then that actor who got more movie parts when braver men left to fight a World War changed our economy from one for the Middle Class to an economy that works great for wealthy people. His policies have been copied by every President (of his Party) ever since, so now the Middle Class has become the working class and they need 2 incomes if they want a family.

LAPD had OLDS cop cars for 1967 and 68 and really hated them. WE had two big block 70's and they're great for going forward. Turning, spinning, reacting, not so much.
You both tapped into EXACTLY why I looked to foreign cars from my 2nd vehicle and came back only once or twice. The ++horsepower straight ahead nonsense was infectious to some but I guess they found out the day they NEEDED to turn.

Women who worked with Garner loved the guy, in part because he was such a good guy. He served in the Merchant Marines and then in the regular Army in Korea. He earned a Purple Heart. I liked James Garner and the people who worked with him said the same thing.
Garner knew how to drive,he raced some as well as having a race team.He was a Veteran and a great actor.Seemed like a nice guy. He was the man !

1970 Olds Cutlass Supreme! My high school car was a 1971 Cutlass Supreme SX with a 455. A big car, but handled well. I miss the classics.😢
My high school car was a 69 Cutlass. Bought it for$800 cash. I learned quickly to take it slow and leave lots of space.
