    • @EtrnayDad
      @EtrnayDad 7 років тому +17

      yeah, but i dont go to them. i always let them come close to me. what people dont understand is, when they freak out and swat at wasps or bees it pisses the little creatures off and puts them into offensive mode to defend themselves. so as long as youre chill with them theyll be chill with you (and as long as you stay away from their hive)

      This is a very docile hive. He's either smoked the shit out of it before hand (smoke makes it hard for the bees to communicate and tends to calm hives down some) or the prior queen produced some very docile bees. If you're careful and considerate of time of day and temperature (bees become less active the cooler it gets), you can literally pick up handfuls of bees out of a hive. When I was a kid, I picked up a live wasps nest that had been knocked out of a tree the night before on a cool November morning, and brought it my mother, who promptly freaked out the hell out and threw it into the woods. Had I done the same thing about midday, those wasps would've stun the hell out of me.

      The young ones you introduce to queenless hives usually aren't. And old ones in a hive that is getting ready to swarm trim down as well because they have to fly. Established laying queens in a healthy hive are a bit fatter than normal workers, but usually it's the length that gives them away, not the girth.

    I like bees. Whenever I see a bee, I'd greet it and show that I'm not a threat. I love nature. I do not wish to harm nature's beautiful creations.
    Edit:
    I'm not really afraid of bees since I've never harmed or bothered one. Hell, I've NEVER been stung by a bee in my entire life. Not even by any other bug. I'm very confidence around bees more than wasps. Wasps are jerks.
    And if I do get stung one day, then I'd feel guilty because that creature died. But that doesn't mean it'll change my mind.

    • @AugustHawk
      @AugustHawk 7 років тому +346

      When the bees didn't accept the queen, there were more bees on the compartment, and they were trying to sting it and chewing on the wire to get to the queen. When they accepted the queen, they weren't as many bees, they weren't agitated - instead moving about with more purpose and control, and they were trying to feed and clean her instead of chewing the wires and trying to sting through the wires. Hope that helps.

    • @nathenhutchison6182

      Not really. I watch the two videos, and I don't see the difference. I mean, he says there's a difference and I believe it. I just don't see it. As a non-professional having watched both videos only once, there is ONE striking difference:
      How easily he could swipe away the bees when the queen was being accepted, but how they just wouldn't want to budge when they weren't accepting her.
      Also, the less obvious differences were the sound (bees sound different when agitated) and well... you really have to look closely, but the movement - and especially how they seem to interact with the cage - seem to be different.
