There's epic and then there's BAND-MAID FCKEN EPIC!! These glorious musical unicorns give us another wonderful masterpiece of creativity, arrangement and delivery, what a fcken band Po 👍🍻
The hand and shadow hand parts hit hard, just feeling sad for Kanami and for others who have lost somebody close to them. Such a simple scene that means so much.
True. My aunt, my favorite relative, died 11 months ago and she would have been 100 today. My birthday was a day before hers and this is the first time I didn't see or hear from her on our b-days.
Congrats gents - this song is so much, so beautiful, that many of the reactors end up focusing so much on the music and miss how absolutely stunning and poignant the vid is. Someone talked about Kanami's inspirations and emotions that went into it. But something equally amazing, the lyrics were all written by Saiki, and she really has just got into writing lyrics - she did Hate? off Unleashed, but here, she shows she is ready for the next level. The 'story' here is that she was reading about the history of storytelling, and music, and learned about cultures in the past that marked certain stories and music forbidden. And she's considering that we now can find some of these, and recreate them, and Saiki is singing to those before, telling them - we found you, we know. (The shadow hand finding the human). And on top of that, she says - someday someone could find our music, and it could help pick someone up. We'll be singing 'for hundreds of years', and part of that is that they know their fans will help keep their songs going, and they're part of their story also at the end of the day. (the crowd noise part) So again, bravo for keeping your ears and eyes open, and identifying how beautiful this song is in both music and message, delivered through an amazing visual experience. Cheers!
A epic song, of a epic rollercoaster of a ride of transitions and emotions, from an epic album just released called "Epic Narratives". How fitting this song is on a album called "Epic Narratives". The genius composer Kanami mentioned in a interview, "...when I was making this song, I happened to have experienced the death of someone close to me (most believe she's referring to the passing of her grandmother), so I was thinking about things like "What is life?" and "What does it mean to live?" So I thought I'd like to try to express things like "What is a person's life?" and "Life has ups and downs" through music. Even though there are ups and downs and many changes, there should be a core that never changes, so I expressed that in the riff..." What inspiration and we are so fortunate to live in the era of Band-Maid. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘 Can't wait for them to make a MV of "The One". Which I think is a rock ballad of epic proportions. As soon as that one comes out, you guys need to jump on that one. "Toi et moi", "Letters to you", "TAYAMA!", and "Get to the top" (Instrumental) are also so good. If any release soon, you must react to them.
I feel like BandMaid has turned a corner with this song and video. All are now in their 30's and it is reflected here. With this I think they truly are making music for the ages. Intricate enduring rock and roll music will be their legacy. What a band. We get to hear it when it is new!
Love the sentiment but it’s too different a thing! Band Maid hasn’t even tried something like Supper’s Ready, or Close To The Edge. Believe me, I dream of the day they do their own 20 minute epic… I’d expect that it would be amazing.
Lee Jay and Stan, thanks for reacting to this one by the Maids. There are several songs from their new album tha I hope will have either an official music video, like this one, or an official live video. I jokingly say that it took an entire album to produce a "rock opera" with Tommy. With "Forbidden Tales" Band-Maid did the same damned thing in four and a half minutes.
The songs already released earlier in the year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. But I already love Forbidden Tale, and especially The One. 😉🤘 btw - We should all wish a "Good Luck" to Band-Maid's new self-run management company: Maidit, Co., LTD! Will they managing other bands, boost Cluppo and Maiko projects, or tour more internationally? Or maybe they will expand their business interest to other sectors of the music biz outside of Band-Maid. I believe Kanami wants to get more into composing, scoring and production. And as for Miku and Saiki, the sky's the limit for what they'll want to do in merch, fashion and art, etc.. Thx, Lee Jay & Stan!
This song raises your emotions in the best way!!

Stan, you nailed it. They have this ability to just reach into your soul.
They make numinous music.
TRANSITION MASTERS. Nobody does it better. Great reaction.
This will be one to see Live 👊💪👌🥳🤘🤘🤘
I've been thinking that about a lot of the songs on the new album!

Even before the mv came out, this song made me feel emotional.

I suggest the song Toi et Moi from the new album.
Genesis: “ this is our epic masterpiece called ‘Supper’s Ready’…..”
Band Maid : “ Hold my Beer….”
