I've been no poo for about 5 weeks now, my hair is already starting to look SO much better, it's starting to get curly and the colors in my hair are more visible. Honestly wish I had started this a long time ago, it feels amazing!
Catrina Cornwell that’s great shampoo is a detergent which is stripping your hair of all of your natural oils which will hurt your hair in a way your hair will get into a routine and you can wash with shampoo once a week or month even and water wash everyday or every other day whatever you prefer just to keep that balance!
Yeah I’ve found too with well water since we can customize the ph of our water shampoo and arguably even the vinegar rinses are just not so important. I’ve gotten to a point of just adding salt water to the scalp and Argan oil to the tips and water rinsing every couple of days. It’s going great! I admire the “no I don’t care if you think it looks greasy”-nice video
I love to see a fellow girl with thin/fine hair type speaking out about what works for her! I also have thin hair as a teenager and it makes me feel so self conscious and ashamed. Hoping this works for me. But my question is- how often do you rinse your hair with water during the week? Or do you just use the zero waste shampoo once a week? Thanks Katt :)

Can somebody help with sharing his advice on wt i use to wash my hair.... As it is fine and oily all d tym..... Wud appreciate.
I'm on week three just water no products. But with curly hair I NEVER brush it and from watching so many videos on this subject, even combing with a wide tooth comb looses the natural curl pattern. AND it works!!! my curls are so much better now they are left to go in the way they want to. It isn't tangled. Less frizz and more defined curls. Sebum is my new best friend my end feel like a new blunt cut!
I just started 6 days ago. I only "wash" with water.l and brush daily now. My hair is a bit greasy. But it's nothing that really bothers me. I put my hair in braids or a bun everyday.
I'm about 2 weeks in and my hair is already softer and falling out less with less of the roots of the hair coming out. Although I do have a lot of byproduct and just random chunks of oil and things in my hair though as well as my hair looking less shiny and more grey-ish (not the actual hair color but effect of oil on the hair). I'm so glad to have find this video because I was going to quit on it in fear that I might damage my hair. I'm a black male with 4c hair so when I found out that the black natural community was doing a lot with oils and creams and conditioners with all of them doing different things and routines, I got frustrated and went to try this out. I hope this goes well!
Good job and i like also the extra effort you make when producing the video by inserting the effects!!! As to not using shampoo you are probably not too popular with the shampoo industry which just loves to use cheap but destructive packaging. So be it ... they are wrong and just greedy. Keep up the effort!
I got curly hair and I've been doing no poo for a month now. My hair has never looked this great before, it's so shiny and soft and it feels really light without all the products I thought I needed. I was afraid of starting this because I know how curly hair can be a pain to take care sometimes, but once I got the hang of it everything was totally fine. Since I'm only washing with water (haven't been using vinegar) and haven't found any curly hair product totally water soluble, I've starting using aloe vera to style my hair (as a type of hair gel that doesn't form a cast) and I must say that is working very well for me (and it doesn't leave the aloe vera smell after it's dry). So, for the curly girls out there: I, as a curly girl myself, approve of this no poo only water method
I have curly hair too and I’ve been doing no poo for about the same amount of time as you. I don’t know how to cornrow so I braided my hair into a lot of little braids which makes it easier to control and once a week I rinse my hair, massage my scalp and rebraid some of the braids that are coming loose. Hope this helps some of my other curly gurls

You can clarify with distilled water if you have hard water. It removes all the mineral build up to leave you hair soft and your sebum thin/smooth. You can rinse your hair with water and massage your scalp. Water will wash away sweat and chlorine just fine. “Soap” products like shampoo break down oil and kill germs but aren’t necessary to rinse away chemicals. But there’s other ways to get rid of excess oil like she said in the vid. Personally I exfoliate my scalp with a sugar and aloe Vera scrub I made bc I have dry skin but the scrub also scrubs away any waxy or oily residue quite well. Good luck with ur hair journey regardless what u decide to do xx
@@pickolart1044 hi I want to kill germs what do I use. And I dye once in a while what can I use to clean my scalp well but not strip all my color. Clay would do that, strip it
I think it’s just a delusion because you don’t get rid of the hair while shampooing. I might be wrong ofc but I’m on my 3rd week and I’ve noticed that when once in a couple of days I rinse my hair with water I loose a lot of hair and I was quite worried. A good friend of mine told me that it might be because when the hair fall out they just stay there and when you brush/touch them you just see hair that you might have lost days ago.
The problem with me is that I dye my hair with bright colours and I bleach my hair a lot. Also I am a model so the hair stylist will gel and spray a lot on my hair. I want to live the "no poo" lifestyle because of all the benefits it has but u don't think I can do that becuz my hair hv spray in it all the time and I need to use a shampoo or conditioner to get it out and my hair is bleached so I need to use purple shampoo and hair masks to not damage my already damaged hair. Guys can u pls give me suggestions??? I really want to live this lifestyle but becuz of my job I can't.
So after watching your no-poo journey, i decided to try it myself. I'm currently 3 weeks poo-free and really struggling. My hair feels waxy (not even greasy) and dandruffy. I wash my hair twice a week with water and thinking of starting with the apple vinegar next week ( 1 month mark). Any tips or words of encouragement?
I found the same problem with my hair being waxy, but I found out that it's due to hard water. I'm currently on week 5 (still not where I want my hair to be, but starting to get better!) and I have been washing with distilled water and found much better results. Also, the diluted ACV should help to clean off the waxy feeling. It's definitely a lot more tedious to use distilled water, but totally worth it in my opinion.
Shampoo bars are by the way still shampoo, meaning they can contain a lot of stuff you neither want in your hair nor rinse down the drain and making it end up in the environment again. I really, really recommend hair soap instead! Depending on where you live and how hard the water is, you will have to do an apple vinegar/water OR lemon juice/water rinse once a week to remove limescale, and you need to create a looooot of foam by adding more water than you have to with shampoo - but it's great! :) If anyone lives in the UK, I recommend those people: www.read-the-label.co.uk/
Swimming in salt water has really helped my hair! I haven't washed it in about four years, and after swimming in the ocean it always feels way softer, but you definitely gotta scrub the scalp good!
I've been using sls free shampoos for some years now and it's great. But wanted to try something new like washing my hair with clay. Seems like the clay does its job and hair look clean BUT when I touch them, it feels like I have some residue on hair... So I don't know how to feel about it, should I stop using this method or not. My hair also feels more dry
I just started my No Shampoo Journey and i have short hair- (School is starting school) -so im scared what people might think the first few weeks... Like what do i tell them "Oh yeah i don't use shampoo! :D " That's kinda weird right?
I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t have greasy hair with no poo... my hair is SO dry to the point where no poo leaves it slightlyyyy silky the next day or two after a water rinse but even then on the wash day it’s still dry and frizzy :/
Maybe try to use some oils or conditioner on your hair. Also I know this may be annoying to say but drinking tons of water really does help to hydrate your whole body.
Shell J i drink sooooooooo much water I literally always need to pee lmaooo. I finish like 2 bottles of water a day at least. No matter what I do my hair is always dry and frizzy. I have super thick coarse hair so it’s probably because the sebum can’t distribute everywhere very well... it’s the same for my skin too it’s super dry my skin just won’t produce much sebum 😭 I started using hair creams and leave in conditioners and conditioners without silicones to avoid blocking my hair from moisture but even then my hair is still dry and frizzy- less than usual but still frizzy and dry. My curls separate the frizz up no matter what I’ve tried different oils different creams different leave ins different methods... I don’t even use heat on my hair like ever and I have a silk pillowcase which is supposed to minimise frizz... mothing really works for me :(
I have really dry skin and hair as well.. I'm currently experimenting with things. If I can remember, I'll let you know if I find something that works for me that you could try as well. (:
I wash my hair every day with shampoo, and yet flies are attracted to my head all the time. I tried all kinds of shampoos, but I only got results! This problem or know the reason tell me
hi ☺️ what brush are you using? I'm vegan myself and I have the feeling everyone is using a boar bristle brush. is that necessary? greatings from austria
Hanna Austen I have the same question. I have straight thin hair but its very static and frizzy. Is the tangle teezer a good idea? Of a metal comb? Spent so much money on brushes but they all either pull out my hair or make it more static.. :(
Hanna Austen i recommend buying a bamboo bristle brush and/or a bamboo comb. it distributes the oils really well! and it’s not too tough on your hair. using a boar bristle brush with leave your hair more staticky and frizzy.
thanks for the recommendation, I was already getting frustrated. Although it kind of worked my hair feels waxy after I wash it, 2 days later it starts being soaked up by my hair I feel like and I'm getting motivated again :/ I don't want to give up but it's super annoying how much I have to clean my brushes as specifically the tangle teezer. I might try the bamboo brush so thanks for the recommendation 🙏😊
I couldn’t hear anything you said about the water type and that’s the part I need to know the most.. I was wondering does hard water make it less likely for you to be able to do the no poo or can it still be done??? Help me please!!
I thought that the saltwater wasn't that good for the hair. So you say it is possible don't wash your hair with shampoo after a dive? :O How do you do it? Mine gets very bad :/
Andrea Boullosa saltwater is good for hair. go for a swim in the sea and scrub your hair scalp with your finger tips underwater (be gentle). then when you go out use normal water and try to get rid of all the salt residue on your hair. you can do that with your body as well. it works 😁
I too have the grease😞. Have not the fear! You must salt water the scalp and argan oil the tips and do occasional water rinses and maybe add acidity with diluted vinegar if needed. Also don’t forget to use your muscles and believe in yourself and to not poke your eye out and to vanquish your enemies👍!
That teen needs to be using shampoo. I have a teen and if he dont shampoo his hair it stinks bad. I think that goes for anyone. Just using water dont do anything
my parents literally wouldn’t let me when i said i wanted to do this. they were like “it’s so gross and it’ll be greasy, you believe everything you hear on the internet” HAHA
So I wanted to try this since I’m in quarantaine anyways, but my hair is still super greasy and I have not washed it in 48 days now 😂. So yeah, might just switch back to shampoo again.
@Lioness 4 Christ It's not really working for me. In the end I gave in and washed my hair with a little shampoo (after 3 months I think...). The good news is it stayed well for about 5 days, where it was previously about 2 or 3 days... But it pretty quickly became greasy again. Since we're currently in a second lockdown I'm trying again, but I'm really not sure this is ever gonna work for me....
Maybe try to go in the shower and wash your hair with water, scrub/massage your scalp with your fingers for a few minutes(make sure to use cold water at the end so the follicles dont stay up you'll lose more hair). Also keep brushing your hair to distribute the oils to the bottom, try the apple cider vinegar too. Hopefully this can help, good luck!!!

It’s not greasy, it’s luminous.
@@bettyn4085 That's probably my case as well. I'll try the distilled water. Thanks! :)
I hope all the best for you!
thenopoomethod.com/faqs/ This website has a section on hard water and suggests an applesauce mask and a few other things you can try
Did you wash your hair a last time with anti residue shampoo? To remove any rest of silicones petrols, etc.?
Thanks!! Super helpful
Glad you enjoyed it :) Let me know how it goes
Shampoo bars are by the way still shampoo, meaning they can contain a lot of stuff you neither want in your hair nor rinse down the drain and making it end up in the environment again. I really, really recommend hair soap instead! Depending on where you live and how hard the water is, you will have to do an apple vinegar/water OR lemon juice/water rinse once a week to remove limescale, and you need to create a looooot of foam by adding more water than you have to with shampoo - but it's great! :) If anyone lives in the UK, I recommend those people: www.read-the-label.co.uk/
I am 1 month in and have long curly hair..but it was falling out bad..its not falling out as bad but I brush it a lot.
Would your hair go different when using the 'no poo' when swimming in salt water. Also whats your job?
Swimming in salt water has really helped my hair! I haven't washed it in about four years, and after swimming in the ocean it always feels way softer, but you definitely gotta scrub the scalp good!
Can we use no poo method for daily hair wash ?
I've been using sls free shampoos for some years now and it's great. But wanted to try something new like washing my hair with clay. Seems like the clay does its job and hair look clean BUT when I touch them, it feels like I have some residue on hair... So I don't know how to feel about it, should I stop using this method or not. My hair also feels more dry
Great vid, with the apple cider rinse, I use a spray bottle but should I replace the vinegar every time I use it again or will it last?
It'll last
i have been doing this for 6 months !
I just started my No Shampoo Journey and i have short hair- (School is starting school) -so im scared what people might think the first few weeks... Like what do i tell them "Oh yeah i don't use shampoo! :D " That's kinda weird right?
Maby you could try to hide it
@@connyklawitter5143 I am now growing my hair out so i can almost put it in a ponytail :)
@@arr0.w That could be a great opportunity
I workout 6 days a week and get drenched in sweat. I live in a very hot climate
So can I wash my hair everyday with only water?
I heard tea works.. You could try that?
yes
@@aprilhaley5645 Tea is for drinking not washing hair
how much apple cider vinegar do you use to rinse your hair??
thanks
I wash my hair every day with shampoo, and yet flies are attracted to my head all the time. I tried all kinds of shampoos, but I only got results! This problem or know the reason tell me
I am honestly not sure..
hi ☺️ what brush are you using?
Andrea Boullosa saltwater is good for hair. go for a swim in the sea and scrub your hair scalp with your finger tips underwater (be gentle). then when you go out use normal water and try to get rid of all the salt residue on your hair. you can do that with your body as well. it works 😁
So no conditioner too?
Nope!
Great video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Is this a good idea to do with greasy teenager hair?
I too have the grease😞. Have not the fear! You must salt water the scalp and argan oil the tips and do occasional water rinses and maybe add acidity with diluted vinegar if needed. Also don’t forget to use your muscles and believe in yourself and to not poke your eye out and to vanquish your enemies👍!
That teen needs to be using shampoo. I have a teen and if he dont shampoo his hair it stinks bad. I think that goes for anyone. Just using water dont do anything
how does it smell tho?
I started 4 days ago, but I wonder how does your hair balance it all, does all the grease just go away somehow or do I have to remove it?
Can a baby do these?
Do you dye your hair blonde? I get my hair done occasionally (dye it) and they shampoo it. Is this going to back track the progress of not shampooing?
Try chamomile tea instead
Was the live stream on ?
Yess! You can see it here ua-cam.com/video/hKUYuEzPh8A/v-deo.html
it does get gross after 3 weeks.
Try combining medieval hair combing method with no shampoo water only method and see if that works out for you ☺️
I'm only at 3 weeks
my parents literally wouldn’t let me when i said i wanted to do this. they were like “it’s so gross and it’ll be greasy, you believe everything you hear on the internet” HAHA
Eco friendly video with tons of papers behind her back (not a hateful comment)
See, we’re on two separate journeys with the same name… Couldn’t relate much
your like bill nye but not a fake actor
Am I the only one who saw the title and thought that she was going to skip going to the bathroom for a few weeks?

I started the no shampoo method 3 or 4 weeks ago. My hair are still greasy 😢
@momo g i know but she said that her hair wasn't greasy anymore after 1 week. I'm doing the no poo method for almost 1 month
@OMENITOLDYOU not all people have greasy hair.
@@shelly1785 thank you! Today i bought clay.... it is supposed to help. We'll see
@@thesslaniki2501 bentonite clay like the Aztec mask? I heard that was good for getting rid of stuff at your scalp. Hope it works well!
