Can this essentially work for other manufacturers? I'm following the stuff you are doing and working through with my own cluster. Funny, I have a Volvo S60R in the garage but I'm attempting to do this with an Audi B6 S4 cluster, but it seems I'd need actual vehicle for that?
It definitely helps to have the car to sniff. Seeing as audi is a more popular brand you may have better luck searching online for can-bus information. I would also attempt to search german google and forums.

I got a Volvo V50 T5 Cluster sitting on my bench, doesn't wanna turn on though
The P1 platform likely has a completely different canbus system, speeds and codes
