That caller was correct.. your show is about 'What ifs ' opinions and controversial questions and answers. That is what your show is about. Contradiction and causing debates. We say black, you say white... we say white , you say black. Good caller and absolute correct. That caller probably (maybe) shouldn't have said said it is ALL based on 'what ifs' but prior to his phone call, they are discussing the ramifications of England looking outside their first eleven and where they go from there. Also, this station spends half its time talking about what if United had a different manager to ETH, or what if Southgate was not in charge of England. Goldstein turned on the guy there and should have took a look at himself for a moment because that guy wasn't that far off the mark.

On paper, England squad looks great but the reality is different. The players don’t seem to gel and don’t have an identity/a certain style of play. Teams like France, Brazil, Argentina always tend to have a style and players that click.
The other nations have players that give a damn. England’s don’t, otherwise they wouldn’t be wearing a shirt which despoils the England flag in a gross act of anti English racism.
brazil havent clicked since 2002,argentina couldnt click for 20 years even with messi till they won it,germany and italy are murder the now and spain aint great and are notorious for not clicking,france are the only real team that get it done over and over

@@francisc8846 There are different types of "style" of play. Emery changed the formation, the idea and the tactics in terms of style (eg a high defensive line) but a manager cannot change a cultural style of play. England will never play like Brazil for example.
England consitently struggle to create chances and Trent Alexander Arnold consistently creates chances.

I didn't understand the comeback from Goldstein about "what ifs". Every post match analysis of England is about "what if Southgate did or didn't do this." I think the caller probably failed to articulate himself properly but Goldstein and Bent knew what he meant.

It's 16 percent, 4/25 against the top 10, not good enough. People who say this is the best England squad ever are delusional, these guys can’t ties the shoes laces of the Italia 90 and Euro 96 squads.
We always think we are better than we actually are. It happens every tournament. Then we get humbled... Having said that Southgate's the only manager in a long time that got us playing tournament football. Not pretty, but how many winners play pretty football internationally... It's usually solid, hard to beat and try to nick a goal, and be good at set pieces.

In the current landscape no. FA have an English bias and to attract big names you need spend more than 5 mil to do that job. England does not produce great football managers, like the other nations do. Also, I think we are not that great as a team but that's for another post lol
