Seeing Takada cry after realizing he's been inadvertently saying something rude all that time was really sweet, because he clearly cares a lot about friendships and genuinely enjoys having company with Nishimura. He isn't just someone who's jolly and carefree for the sake of it imho.
I think that it might have been more that Takada realized that what he was saying could be causing Nishimura pain. He heard her say that she felt like she literally took her mother's life just by being born and he's been going around this whole time calling her the "Grim Reaper." Dude just put it all together right that minute and felt like a monster.
Takada crying after he realized that he's unintentionally making fun of Nishimura by calling her the "Grim Reaper" like everyone else in their school hit me right in the feels. The boy may be "clueless," but he definitely has a heart. Protect Takada-kun!
Well said, he has a very big heart. Some people got upset from the start that he went along with calling her "reaper" but they forget he's a kid, and that for him it was just a game, he never had any intentions to hurt her feelings, she is his friend, after all.
Nishimura even tried to calm the boy down, she knows he was clueless and when he calls her grim reaper he doesn't mean anything malicious. Given the title of the next episode we are getting to the "If it's you, it's ok" moment because she knows he means something cool when he calls her grim reaper and wants her friend to smile again.
I praise Takada for his maturity, but I also respect Nishimura for simply letting Takada know that it’s okay. She knows that Takada never had any intention of hurting her in any way whatsoever.
This hit really hard... Not only does Takada realize what he was saying was rude but giving that her mom died after Nishimura was born and that could be why she is called the Grim Reaper metaphorically not just because of her gaze.
One thing tho, Nishimura said that nobody in school knows about her mom's passing, maybe the teachers know about it, so there has to be another reason about her nickname.
@@carlosandresvillagra2372 Yeah, no one knows, Takada is the first she tells this. So the bullying is just based upon her appearance. For kids, standing out can be enough to pick on a classmate. And she isn't the type to go against it, she also never told her dad she had no real friends at school.
It's sweet, but has some drama/serious moments, without becoming too depressing. I think that is a unique balance it manages to strike. Sad to see many cast it aside as "likely boring" and think it's a single trick pony.
I'd argue it doesn't pass the arbitrary three episode rule, up to now its been very happy running with the 'twisted interpretation' bit. This episode went hard :)
This scene was amazing, you can really tell how upset he was when realizing, the genuine sadness he feels for being inadvertently hurtful to her, it’s heartbreaking. Can’t wait for the next episode and what will happen next.
Its not my normal art style but most things on Crunchyroll isn't that good. Hidive normally gets the quality. But I gave this a chance and I was happy I did
For Takada, i think the mindset he went into when it finally got put together was something like this. The fact that her mother died during childbirth, and She felt like she replaced her, to Taka, i think he believed was unintentionally calling her a murderer. Of course this isn’t true, but in the mind of an innocent child meaning to do good, he feels that burden weigh on him heavily.
I once told a person I hold dear about how I was bullied in a similar fashion to Nishimura in middle school, and despite being a cheerful person most of the time, they cried, while nobody had cried when I'd mention that before. This person is the one I want to marry, for that reason and many many others. We just watched the episode together today and pretty much bawled at this scene
Takada may be dense, but he put something together that none of the other kids could and why maybe calling the girl who lost her mom the "Grim Reaper" isn't such a great idea.
The other kids don't know about her mom though, she mentioned she never told anyone in her class. So they couldn't have known this nickname was not just stupid, but also very inappropriate
Kid realizes that he was saying awful thing to his new friend unintentionally 😢 Me and the boys cursing and roasting each other on purpose for the past 10 years 😂🙏😂
yep they are like nishkata and takagi san right :D ? or in the same thime is like me and my girlfriend when we was a kids but now she is not witl me from long time and now when i see this anme im sad :D
i love this scene so much :( just shows how takada is 'clueless' bc he's still a kid but that doesn't mean he doesn't know what's going on around him. the fact that they held hands throughout the night without talking bc he was probably still processing it was such a sweet moment :(
Started this anime, thinking it's going to be another cute series that anime is famous for, but man, it turned into "Natsume Yūjin-chō" in the feels department, and this episode blew a hole through my heart. Now cannot even wait to find out how this relationship is going to change.
Judging by the title of the next episode, I’m guessing that Takada is going to walk on eggshells around Nishimura and things will get awkward, and it will culminate in her reassuring him that everything is fine and that he can call her Grim Reaper.
Yeah, it was highly suspected that Nishimura's mother had passed, there was a lot of clues. Seeing Takada break down and cry was so sad, he thought he had really hurt her with the way he's been talking. I'm wondering if his attitude will change concerning everyone else calling her a "grim reaper"
I think hes still clueless that the others mean it as an insult so he probably won't defend her as much as just try to get the kids to stop naturally by just telling them a little
Just thought I'd add a note, that Ohige on Takada's shirt means beard/mustache. But may also be a ref. to the Mr. Ohige Sticker as the shape of the mustache is the same.
I wonder if he'll get mad whenever people call her that name, now that he related shinigami with her mom's death. I hope to see these two more and more, I love this anime
I respect Nishimura for being cool with it. She knew that he wasn't intentionally trying to be mean to her. Takada just sees "grim reaper" as a cool nickname, unlike their classmates.
Until yesterday I didn't have any interest in this anime, until I saw the scene where he gives her a ring. I just got to this scene and it made me cry! 😭
But he didn't even know that he was being dense (and rude). Takada just called her the "grim reaper" because he thought it sounded cool. No malice, whatsoever, unlike their classmates. Even Nishimura knew that as she tried to calm him down, but wasn't successful.

From the first chapters the mother was intuited but i did not think that the MC was going to find out so quickly, character development ↗🔝

Yeah but Takada cried because that mean joke was actually WAY MEANER then anyone thought.
This series seems to be flying under the radar for most, but I love how sweet it is.

After that he couldn't say anything, when you can't find the words to make amends for something, silence is the only thing left...
So her being called the grim reaper, was it because her birth caused her mother to die?
@@AeyakS No, the kids at school don't even know her mom died. She is called grim reaper for her somewhat gloomy looks and big eyes
Yeah, I am glad they were able to translate the source material so well to this amazing scene. I don't think it could have been done any better, tbh.
Takada is one of the sweetest and purest anime characters I've ever seen and his genuine kindness to Nishimura is what makes this anime so wholesome.
Seeing Takuda cry really hits hard because he is usually so cheerful
I was not expecting to cry when Takada realized this. Such an underrated show this season that almost nobody is paying attention to.

I love this show with all my heart, it's so sweet and innocent! Gloomy girl + golden retriever energy boy makes the best pairing!
"Golden Retriever boy" best comment!
I love this boy and everything he stands for. Him and Nishimura are the best thing we have gotten all year.
Beautiful scene, beautiful story. This episode was phenomenal
One of the best things I've watched this year.
Takada having that insane realization so quickly was pretty damn awesome :')
Even though you realize her mom is dead the moment Nishimura said she heard her mom loved jasmine tea made me cry

like nishkata and takagi san right : D?

Crying can be cleansing too. I suggest to stick with it, I have faith it will be worth it.
One of the best episodes of this season, calling it.
