OMG, whoever recommended you this place must be Mr Wong's friend(s). This restaurant is overrated and overpriced. This place is catering for the pretenders.
Hi Uncle Lee! Aiya!! Nobody except Ang Moh eat at Mr Wong. For a start it’s way too expensive and the food is catered to Ang Moh taste. I always eat best Nyonya food my mother cooks 1 hour train from Sydney CBD. No need to eat at Mr Wong very extravagant and too expensive. I catch mud crab and bring to mother and she cooks #1 chilli crab. Not too spicy Ah Fatt can take it.
The average mud crab price at Sydney restaurant is around 60-80 a kilo aud You've been ripped off Also you can eat traditional Peking duck in any other Chinese restaurant much better than this one Mr Lee😢
It’s more of a westerner restaurant, taste wise adjusted for westerners including pricing! 😂. Now that Asians realize that the prices there are rip off, they can stay clear of it!
You are going to wrong restaurant to try for Chinese food. You should go to Chinese restaurant that are operate by Cantonese for example The Eight in Haymarket Sydney a lot better. Mr Wong is Chinese Fusion that only suitable for Aussie/ westerners. You hardly see Chinese customers there. Must go to Chinese restaurants that you are able to speak Cantonese and mostly are Cantonese staff.
This Australian trip gave me a couple of eye opening experiences and one of them is the price of Australian seafood. Even at the fish market, the price of mud crabs 🦀 is not cheap. I used to catch them myself when I went to Gold Coast about 10 years ago. They are easy to catch and many of them are big. These Australian crabs 🦀 are selling for ~RM280/kg in KL… so I won’t be complaining about the price anymore now that I know it’s so much more expensive to eat it in Australia… moreover it’s cooked more deliciously 🤤in KL.
Uncle Lee . U have been conned. This type of restaurant for anymo who have no idea what is Chinese food. You should have been more direct in your critism of this place so others will not be conned like you. If it were me after hearing the cost of the crab , I would have walked out. You paid a high price to learn this lesson.
It's ok, I have been waiting for a day like this. We now have documented video evidence that the food is not that great and the prices are expensive too. So very unlikely for me to return as a customer and also for other watching this to be aware as well. When walking into a restaurant and not able to spot a single Chinese customer is already a red flag to me from the very beginning. Thank you for watching.
Like others said Mr Wong is mainly for angmohs and ABCs. Many other restaurants serving great Peking duck. You should be trying good pub food, like fish and chips or good pizzas/pastas.
I would love to try other cuisines....unfortunately my travelling friends this time don't eat beef, don't eat lamb, don't eat raw stuff, no spring onions, no parsleys,...no this, no that! Not many options left! And the other reason is that we will be on a 12 day cruise after this and it will be western food for the entire 12 days! OMG!
Uncle Lee you must go to a real Chinese restaurant where there are many real Chinese people eating there. unfortunately Mr Wong is the wrong one you chose. Except the price is not wrong😂.
Hi mr.Lee, l prefer go to Haymarket Chinatown and enjoying chinese foods, there you have roast pigs ,chickens ducks and many other delicious foods. 🤗🇩🇪
I would love to try other cuisines....unfortunately my travelling friends this time don't eat beef, don't eat lamb, don't eat raw stuff, no spring onions, no parsleys,...no time, no that! I can have steak everyday if I want on the cruise and I know it will be super awesome!
In Sydney, many restaurants focus on creating a glamorous ambiance and attracting a large crowd, which can be appealing to customers. However, the focus on presentation and ambiance may sometimes come at the expense of the food quality. Restaurants may prioritize aesthetics and creating a trendy atmosphere over the quality and taste of their food. Additionally, the high cost of running a restaurant in Sydney, including rent and other expenses, can also impact the quality of ingredients used and the overall dining experience. In addition to the focus on ambiance over food quality, another factor that can contribute to below-average food in Sydney restaurants is the use of inexperienced kitchen staff. High turnover rates and a competitive labor market can lead to restaurants hiring less experienced chefs and kitchen workers. This can result in inconsistencies in food preparation, lack of attention to detail, and overall lower quality dishes being served. Uncle Lee, plz do travel to Kathmandu, Nepal and try Newari Cuisine, Buff Jhol Momo and Thakali Cuisine as well Tibetan cuusines over there. Do also visit Swayambhunath which is a Buddhas place.
You are absolutely spot on! Rents and property prices must be sky high in Sydney that everything is so expensive. Talking about Nepalese cuisine, omg, we had some amazing Nepalese food in Napier and it’s even better than anything that I can find in Malaysia. Watch out for that episode 👍🙏
Uncle Lee, you should know better. When you do not see too many Asians (read Chinese people) about, that is not the place to go for chinese food. Mr Wong may be good, but it is over-rated. PS. Did you offer the claw to 'the boss'?
Uncle Lee .. I have this same problem in London , Chinatown ..there is no decent food here ..all good is catered for the mat salleh . It's heartbreaking 💔 .. so what I do is I cook all I want to eat myself and at the moment I'm just eating vegetables so when I come to Malaysia I'll be feasting ..lol no fasting . I won't be going to Sydney or Australia but thanks for calling it out .
TBH, I've had Peking Duck in Peking (currently known as Beijing), a few times actually as I've been to Beijing a couple of times. I remember it as per your description of Peking duck you say, as in skin AND FLESH, with much thinner skin and also scallions (spring onions) and cucumber. And frankly, tastes better with Skin and Flesh...
I have been to Beijing 🇨🇳 few times and the best I had was at Bianyifang and Xiang Man Lou (I heard it did not survive the pandemic and closed permanently). These were recommended to me by Beijingers and I love them so much! The skin is so thick and crispy (like biscuits). Nothing comes close in KL or HK. Oooh dear, drooling 🤤 just talking about it. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bianyifang
@@UncleLeeAdventures Having said, in Beijing, even tho there are flesh, the flesh is not so thick. Then they make another dish with the flesh, and a soup with the bones. But generally, Chinese restaurant in Australia with lots of Mat Salleh, generally not that good la, there are many restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne China Town that are Chinese (as in orang Cina, not necessarily China Chinese) audience. Anyway, ENJOY Sydney.
@@WENG0407 yeah with lots of mat salleh around, they only want meat… thick meat, cannot have bones and head and feet etc. I remember my mat salleh boss once freaked out when we served steam fish here with the head.. and with the eyes looking at him 😂. That’s why they like those boneless chicken breast (so expensive and taste like wood) whereas we Chinese will go for the much cheaper wings! Hahaha.. keep it this way else the cheap parts will become expensive if they change their eating habit.
Mr Wong is more of a corporate restaurant catered for business entertainment and western palate. I had only been here a couple of times for business purposes. I don’t think food here suits authentic Asian palate.
You are correct.. I do see tables with what seemed like corporate folks entertaining bosses. I must say that it’s a pretty good environment for that purpose. And definitely not a place to go for authentic and reasonably priced food.
for duck i will go for this one "Mr Fat Duck Peking Restaurant 京味軒", for goose i will go for this one "Taste of Shunde 順德味道 Eastwood", for crab i will go for this one "Harry's Singapore Chilli Crab Restaurant"
no problem with it being served with meat but the meat is more than an inch thick! And the skin is paper thin! That's roast duck and not Peking duck! They have very successfully conned mak sallehs! Even Beijing's Peking duck is served with skin and meat but their skin is thick and when bite into it, it's like biting into a piece of biscuit.

Hefty price esp the crab . The Peking duck is not great too as u commented . Would avoid Mr Wong restaurant . Thanks for sharing Uncle Lee
You are very welcome....hope that this video is useful and helpful.
Do reach out to me if ever in Melbourne Uncle Lee! I know all the good “👍🏼👍🏼” Malaysian and Aussie makan spots here!
Sounds great! And thanks for the offer. 👍🙏
