The same thing happened here in Metro Manila especially back in the early 2000s. Before large animated neon lights lined up EDSA and other places around The Metro. Now it has been replaced by unattractive bill-boards and later on, digital LED ones. Though I like the digital LED signs.
Can't be led made into tube like neon signs? Cause i get that leds are energy-efficient but idk i felt like neon signs are part of hk's culture and identity i hope they'll preserve even just the look of the city by imitating neon signs through led if that's possible
The Hong Kong economy is also fading as central southern Chinese ports compete for containers. The Shanghai port has been the busiest in the world since 2005. The title used to belong to Hong Kong.

Thats what make a place unique. If i have a position that can allow me to put like these in my place i would do it. The streets here are boring.

Another thing, Blade Runner was more influenced by Tokyo's neon lights, The fact the movie was partly filmed there.
Tokyo's neon lights are inspired by hong kong neon lights.
