I had to make a comment. These guys are doing a great job. Believe me when I tell you it's more difficult than it looks, especially at night under NVGs / NVS. I was the third Longbow deck landing qualified Aviator in the Army. We were tasked in early 2012 to "make it happen" by ARCENT. A lot of work went into it. We landed on two LPDs (USS New Orleans & USS Pearl Harbor) in the Northern Arabian Gulf. The Navy guys were great. We did a lot of work together. Nice video, keep them coming.
I’m 17 and currently considering going for army aviation, I’m wondering how often Apache pilots fly compared to blackhawks? I heard that the apaches have more maintainence time.
Great to see regular U.S. Army helicopters operating from Naval Vessels. Although this is not new (The 160th SOAR has done it for many years), regular Army aviators haven’t. Interoperability between all the services is guaranteed to add to our lethality and therefore, grant us victory in the battle space (air, land and the seas).
The British Army has all of their Apaches qualified for deck landings. There are some physical changes (mostly folding rotors) that have to take place before they can become fixtures on carriers.
I imagine they would also have to install tie-down points onto the landing gear (standard equipment on all naval aircraft, fixed or rotary-winged) in order to chain the choppers to the deck so they don't go sliding all over the place in rough seas.
Did you know the army has the largest naval fleet in the us military also the largest amphibious battle was conducted by the army in Normandy during WW2.
Would like to have had 30 of these babies on the Normandy beaches at 6.00 am on June 6, 1944. The allies could have punched though in 3 hours on the beach head and been in land 10 miles by noon.
No they don't. All though the Abrams does have a turbine engine not even close to the same size or power output. Abrams is 68 tons and can drive 45 MPH. And that's from personal experience. Apache fully loaded can barely get out the FARP topped off in Afghanistan. Also seen personally as i transitioned to aviation later in my army career.
Interesting that the rocket pods are empty. AFAIK, the navy don't allow rockets onboard their carriers due to historical "mishaps". I wonder if that will change?
You will get salt from sea- ocean mostly when you fly on low level above sea...Apache has corosion protection because that is ultra expensive and ultra modern machine.
I hope they have countermeasures in place to protect against anti-ship missiles. They must neutralize the enemies ability to fire those anti-ship missiles immediately should open hostilities break out.
@@johnj.wallacewallace2388 Why is something up? The Army has been training on Navy ships like this with Apaches since the 1980's. It is a pretty common thing.
For some strange reason, the Army is looking to operate on ship like the Marines do. Marine Corps AH-1Z and UH-1Y can fold their blades for storage on ships. It also makes it easier for transports like C-17 and C-5s to move them around. AH-64 can't fold their blades so its much harder to get them where they need to go. Being able to operate on ships gives them more options but honestly , its takes away from the Marines mission
@@danielbeckman272 was just going to say that the main rotor blades can be removed without too much trouble. I work at MD Helicopters where the MD 530F Cayuse Warrior is built; and it doesn't seem to take long at all to remove the rotor blades when the aircraft are shipped.
Not taking into consideration fuel requirements, I have always thought that Apaches were the best option to defend the Navy SEALS, and the Rangers the days John Chapman lost his life.
I'd think that the more attack aircraft that are available in a contested area like the Persian Gulf; the more likely the Iranians would choose *not* to start something; which is the best outcome. If things do go south however; I'm sure their will be plenty of targets for the Marines.

Do the Longbow Apaches have capabilities with their sensors that other attack helicopters lack?
These folks did do a great job!

The Apache. For when your gunship and warthog killstreaks are RTB for resupply.

I believe this is for a Doolittle raid style attack in that these would be for a large unconventional short term operation.

@@Orca19904 UK Apaches already use strengthened tie down points for exactly that.
Makes a lot of sense for an island nation
Now we are talking! Taking out the Iranian gun boats will be like a turkey shoot for the Apaches!
Great camera work..Pilots are skilled to say the least..Thanks for sharing this footage!

Wobbly mats

Gary Bolton, "wobbly things"! 😝
These Apaches can be used to be deployed into coastal and land for operations other than conducting naval operations.
AH-64 when you care enough to send the very best
I love these bad boys sure enough get job done Kuddos ♥️🇺🇸 💙👍
I remember the day/night a special group aboard our LPH in the Med, not AH-64 birds!
Ahhh...when the army and navy finally decides to set aside their differences. What a time to be alive
I think that started with the Doolittle Raid. Those bombers belonged to the army air corp.

Gonna be looking for some nice tasty Iranian boats. Yum yum
The Apache's look so precise. I wouldn't fancy defending against a swarm of these..........just sayin'
All they have to do now is paint em Grey and they'll be good to go.
Looks like the military is looking for assets that overlap as they have decided to divest in some helicopter capabilities for the U.S. marines🤔

Can't help but notice the similar turbine sound when the Apache and the Abrams tank start up. Do they have similar engines?
