Me too, last week I got one of the Mayflash (specifically the Magic-S Pro 2 as it would allow me to take advantage of it's Ps4 compatibility and to allow me to not be in a hurry to get more than 1 Ps4 controller as a backup... yes, I got a Ps4 controller, a 3rd party one, but with the Mayflash Magic-S Pro 2 I can take my time in getting another replacement while I can play with my switch controllers, xbox one/series controllers and 8bitdo SN30 Pro1 and Pro2 in the meantime... and also Wiimote+Classic Controller Pro for the heck of it, even if it lacks the R3 and L3 buttons on the analog sticks that makes some games unplayable or having to do some workaround if the game allows it, like using a keyboard in PSO2NGS to access the subpallete for example).
Thanks for pointing out the multiple controllers thing - i'm pretty excited to get 'copilot' without an adaptive controller. I think this is going to be exactly what i need to show my disability service the value of this sort of tech for clients.
I thought this would all be too niche to really find something in regard to a ps4 on switch with a mayflash vs 8bitdo comparison. You my good sir put out the PERFECT video that I was looking for, thank you!
You missed a critical issue that affects both adapters: stick accuracy. The Magic-NS (on the latest firmware) has much better stick accuracy than the 8bitdo Adapter (also on the latest firmware). Still, stick accuracy on the Magic-NS is not 1:1 compared to a native Pro Controller, which negatively affects precision on games that require inputs from the right stick to look around. The Magic-NS has around 90% accuracy, the 8bitdo has around 40% accuracy compared to a native controller.
I noticed that too, the 8bitdo has a strange precision when we talk about the sticks, and I found out about it too late, when I was testing the sticks at my switch :(
Where can I get more data on this about the 8bitdo controller? I have a Mayflash already but I was considering picking up an 8bitdo because it is cheaper in price
@Bubz of Steel I'm just assuming here, but it's probably a consistency issue. You won't go the same distance each time pressing it with the same pressure for the same amount of time
The first one. The adapter gets the direction right, but between the center and the UP direction lets suppose that the Pro Controller has 10,000 thousand different values while the adapter only has 7,000. You can still move around reliably, but you can't aim with the same precision and that to me is a really big handicap. I can play games like Apex Legends on my PC with a controller EASY but I can't do the same with the Pro Controller using any of the adapters.
The Wii U Pro controller also works with Mayflash Magic NS and Magic S. You can use it to play on pretty much anywhere. To pair the controller, just press the button once on the Mayflash and the sync button on the controller.
The hardest aspect of using these supposedly simple devices is the very limited feedback they provide through their only LED. I have a Mayflash NS that used to pair with my Xbox controllers and just won't anymore. Honestly I was also confused by the mode, wondering whether the mode should be set for the device it is connected to, or the brand of controller. Obviously now I know, and only today realised I can also connect a Wiimote to the Mayflash on the switch. in itself, not too great, but I can also connect a wii wired controlled to the wiimote and use that. Progress! I will also try a PS' controller after seeing your demonstration. I also hadn't understood/considered the need for the two modes on the switch, but that also makes more sense after your video. Thank you!
good but the main difference between this two is when you use any controller playing via bluetooth (adapter) on pc and non Steam games, you will need to charge at some point. In that case you need to plug in pc and use x360 software to convert it, if you use 8Bitdo. If you use Mayflash you don't need to connect your controller to your pc to charge and use software because it has a usb port where you can plug your controller and charge it at a same time as playing games, where 8bitdo doesn't.

I own several of the 8BitDo and Mayflash adapters. Both work great. The Maylash Magic-S has support for PS4 and not the Switch, while the Magic-NS supports the Switch but not the PS4. . Both support the Ps3.
I’m thinking of getting one of these adapters, but I want to be able to play with another person. If you plug in two adapters at the same time, are you able to play two-player games with another person using two controllers? Edit: I’m referring to the Nintendo switch specifically.
Do the motion controls for the PS3 controller work on a Nintendo Switch? I've only seen reports of PS4 controllers working. Confirmation would be awesome!
I recently got the Magic-S Pro 2 and I love it, is funny how I can use my Xbox Series/One Mass Effect PowerA wired controller on my switch, ps4 and ps3 like it's not a big deal, not to mention that my 2 8bitdo SN30 Pro 1 and 2 respectively, also works with the adaptor on non-switch consoles, making me wanting to get another one for another controller I have in the future, and to be honest... I didn't experienced input lag, and nearly all of my controllers, original Dualshock 3, original Dualshock 4, ps4 3rd party, ps3 3rd party, PowerA controllers for Xbox, the 8bitdo controllers I mentioned to have... yup, I can't go wrong and I can put some of my older controllers like the gamecube inspired Wii Classic Controllers I have into a good use.
Help me..my 8bitdo adapter wont sync with my ds4.. Pro controller communication already on.. But it cant sync at all..i also tried update the adapter firmware to the latest version but still it wont sync...
I've been using the Mayflash Magic-NS for a while now and absolutely love it. Doesn't the 8BitDo device also support all the 8BitDo Bluetooth controllers?
I'm trying to compare the newer "2" versions of both these devices and I wonder if the lag would be much better on those. I'm bending towards the Mayflash just because I'm not concerned about it as badly and it does have the USB out to preserve an input for charging.
Buy it and combine it with a Titan 1. You're set for life. Titan 1 has a feature no other dongle has. Take PC inputs and run them on game consoles. Meaning any gamepad you got plugged inside your PC. Titan 1 can detect it and you can convert the gamepad board to any output. This feature is called Max Aim DI. You plug the Titan 1 in the game console and leave the cord that comes with it inside the PC. Of course any gamepad will run on a PC. Do the passthrough method with Max Aim DI. You're set for life no matter what controller you have. Sega Genesis USB controller working on PS5. USB Nintendo 64 controller working on Xbox series s. Firestick remote working on Nintendo switch. As long as the PC can detect the board to the device with Titan 1 and max Aim ID. It will work on any game console.
Genuinely curious, what if one were to plug the 8bitdo into the back of the Mayflash, while plugged into the Switch? Would 8bitdo receive Bluetooth "signal" and still output to the Switch through the Mayflash? (I hope my question isn't too confusingly worded.)
I think that’s feasible - it’ll show up as whatever mode the 8bitdo is set to, so Xinput with a switch pro controller would get converted back to switch !
Thank you for the extensive review and comparison. I am looking for the best possible solution to hook up 4 controllers to my PC without using 4 usb jacks for that because I simply do not have that many. My Oculus Rift and 3 sensors, printer and other stuff take most of them. Is there a dongle that can support multiple controllers at once? Or perhaps use one of those 1usb to 4 splitter gadgets and hook up 4 dongles/wires to it?
Great review. good to know 8bitdo is not the only brand. but next time pls test the range. my problem at home is to sit on a couch 3m and three different BT adapter i tested can't handle this range with stable connection to my livingroom pc. Edit: after I test this one. The range is high. If I will I can play at my neighbor's living room
Question: I only have wireless xbox 360 controllers. To use those on my PC, I bought a xbox360 wireless receiver. Would either the Mayflash or the 8bitdo work in combination with the wireless xbox 360 receiver if I wanted to use the controllers on the Switch? Thanks
It will probably not change anything except the added option to plug the controllers in. They will still all most likely control player 1. This is because all the ports go through the adapter and therefore doesn't really change the functionality of the adapter. It would be nice to have an adapter that allowed multiple controllers to connect and function as multiple players, though.
Zachario I was wondering the same but with a Windows wireless Xbox 360 receiver to a neo geo mini. It seems that it would do the exact thing you mentioned and only let multiple controllers control player one. What if you put a usb female to 2x type c cable to each side of the neo geo mini if it would detect 2 players wirelessly with 2 mayflash adapters?

If I hit the two buttons on the controller to adjust the rumble, that does work. But in game, it doesn’t. I have controller vibration on in switch settings. Can I get rumble to work in fortnite?

One question i can seem to do the same thing with the may flash even though the indicator flashed red but why do you have it in blue does it have other meanings?
Does this work with retroarch also? Been keen to setup a box that allows for arcade as the main MAME controller but then being able to switch over to controllers various for other systems. May need to consider making a button bus for mayflash as I'd like to be able to hit a button for each controller without having to open my case to switch over controller.
Does the Mayflash save the mode you last used? Say I was using it in Xinput mode and then I remove the adapter, if I replug it, does it stay in Xinput mode, or do you have to switch modes again everytime you replug it?

Does either dongle or dongle-controller combination wake the Switch from sleep? I tried the Mayflash with a PS4 controller and it did not work for me.
Hello i have question can i Connect more than one magic ns flash for example three or four by using usb Adapter on one switch?
What´s ab out the Frag FX Piranha PS4 on the PC? Do you know? Thanks!
debating on getting one of these adapters to use my ds4 on my switch.. or buying the sn30 pro .. price isn't an issue i just want the best dpad and lowest input lag possible. sn30 pro has less input lag right? but i hear its dpad can have issues and i love the ds4 dpad.. hmm
