    Those are also @hankerinferinale dice. They rock. Yep. Finding good contrast dicebox for rolls has been one of my challenges. For my elderly eyes and the camera, I favor jumbo size dice. Alas!; there are very few jumbo size story cubes.

      Yeah, made by the same guy: Monomakes on Etsy. Fantastic dice!

    I also use the original 2d6 turning table. I use it for oppositional thieves skills like oickpocketing or hide in shadows.

    Awesome job as always Matt. These videos give something to look forward to when I'm on break at work. Cheers.

    It's funny, Matt, I try to be a rational and logical person in my day to day life. In fact, my job requires me to be so. But I'm telling you when those dice start to roll bad numbers I can get pretty superstitious. There have been nights when I refuse to roll certain dice because I've put them in "dice jail". I will shake the dice and talk to them in my hand as if they're listening - commanding them to break free of the bad roll curse. It's pretty silly, and irrational. Anyway, great video :)

      The Dice Gods demand tribute in the form of dead PCs!

    Will that tower shield provide more than +1 to AC, as well as the magic +1. Perhaps an additional +1 against missiles? Just trying to advocate for the PCs… 😂

      Hopefully it provides more than a +1 for our poor Daisy!

    Hey Mat, loved seeing the process you choose for solo as I’m an avid solo player. I had a question for you. Is it necessary for solo AD&D 2e to also own the DMG? Figured if anyone knew it’d be you!

      The DMG (if I remember correctly) had random dungeon generation tables and a bit on solo play. If I am wrong, someone will correct me.
      That said, most of that kind of thing will be available on the hundreds of OSR blogs out there, I would not say you MUST own the DMG. However, I would also add that the 2e DMG is probably one of the best gaming books of all time imo.

      @@mattjackson You are not wrong there are several useful tables. Appendix A has the random tables for Dungeons (including for Solo Play); Appendix B Random Wilderness Terrain; Appendix C Random Monsters, and several others until Appendix P.
      EDIT: Actually this is the DMG for AD&D 1st edition. The DMG for AD&D 2nd edition is not so usefull.

      Hey guys, I’ve done extensive research the last few days on this and have some thoughts and observations. The 1e AD&D DMG does in fact have tips for solo play and random dungeon generation. My copy of the 2e DMG does not; in fact the only tables seem to be for treasure and there is no hints at solo play. Interestingly enough, the best DMG solo tools are in the 5e DMG. Tons of tables, tons of dungeon options, and good quick start ideas. These tools are also surprisingly system agnostic (unlike the rest of 5e books). There is a Dungeoneering Guide for 2e that contains random generation, as well as a Wilderness guide. They are very pricey but the pdfs are free.

    Another good episode :) On a side note, would tossing a torch into a dark room, count as a flash-bang against whatever is in there?

    • @mattjackson
      @mattjackson  Рік тому

      Hmmm, never thought of that. Having used flash bang grenades, I do not feel they have enough brightness to cause more than a fleeting blindness. They would cause a scare for sure but nothing like a real flash bang would.

      @@mattjackson How about tossing in a flaming torch tied to a screaming halfling? LOL

      Actually, that might work. 😉
