For true Carter style, throw away the flatpick. Maybelle used a thumb pick and finger picks, thumb for melody and bass notes and fingers to do the strumming.
Question: Playing below the sound hole creates a completely different sound then over the sound hole or even above. Anchoring your hand on the bridge forces most of us to pick below the sound hole. Is this the sound you want for this style of playing (picking) or am I over thinking it?
Yes and no for the over thinking. Yes it does change the sound but you do gain in control. For and full strum I am always over the sound hole but any picking I am further back.
Good Lessons If folks dont know Maybelle style or ever heard of the carters... All good just the same ... that wild wood was more Jim Stafords then Mother Maybelle's... I did like your style on Bury me.... Those are ballads man wrote in 4/4 100 BpM Im an old thumb finger picker from way back I catch myself running away with time on this picking style all the time... Slow Down... I keep waiting to see you come out with a way to pick Wildwood on the merlin Be safe brother

Slow Down. Man I hear that every time I play with pickers. lol But what can you do. As for wildwood I did do a merlin vid on it a little while back.
I think this would be better if you played slowly more often.
Ya this was my first attempt at doing something more complicated. And as by how often I do them you can tell It didnt go well. lol
