      Andre Mables I have the 9.2 and both of them are really good the main difference is that the 9.2 has 10" sub woofers which obviously are better in all situations

      Techno Dad Hey man nice to see you reviewing the Nakamichi and I have had mine for I guess close to a year now and I was wondering when you might come across it in review it I love it I have the 9.2 and for that reason since I live in an apartment I don't have to install a true surround sound setup that is wired. And it really doesn't get much better than the quality of the sound that comes out of this sound bar as well. I previously also have had the Sony and the Samsung top of the line but they were both simulated Dolby at most and the nakamichi sounds much better and I decided to go with a nakamichi because it is not simulated surround sound it has true surround speakers and where else are you going to find a sound bar set up with 8" subs much less 10" subs. If anybody has any questions they are welcome to hit me up on here also.

    I ordered one from Amazon this past Monday and it was in sale for black Friday deal. I got the 9.2 system for just under a thousand dollars. It arrived today, it only took two day's to arrive which was really good. It took me about a half hour to set everything up and I'm extremely happy with it. I highly recommend buying this sound system because it is one of the best investments in my humble opinion that I've ever have owned. The sound that this system produces is beyond words and I'm so glad that you did a video on this system because until now I didn't know what I was missing. I really appreciate your time and insight on this subject and I will keep coming back to watch and I promise to keep sharing your video's with as many people as I possibly can so that more people will become aware of your channel and I hope it will help to continue the growth of your channel.

    Awesome review! To say the Nakamichi soundbar system is the best bang for your buck is really an understatement. You get so much what you pay for in audio quality, compatibility, surround speakers, DUAL subs, and wireless convenience. I've had mine for almost a month now and I find every excuse to watch a movie or listen to music!

      Nakamichi speakers are garbage. And I'm not paid for this review!
      I brought this sound bar due to the high reviews it got. After using it I would say the reviews are way overly positive. Either everyone has very low expectations or they have never heard a quality system. I guess if u are going from an ipod to this this is a great system. But if you have something to compare this system (like Bose) with than there are a lot of shortcomings that does not demand this price. The followings are some of the issues I found with the 7.2.4 system after 2 weeks of usage:
      1. The system is present to turn on at volume 45, need to load patch to fix.
      2. The sound system logic is very basic, nothing compares to a full fledge sound amplifier that provide much much more audio detail. This system lacks any directional audio detail.
      3. You can bearly hear anything out of the rear speakers, they are only ON about 5% of the time.
      4. The sound producted from the system is just loud with very very minimal surround sound detail. 2d audio vs 3d audio
      5. The connection wire for the rear speakers are very thin, it's about 3mm thick. I guess it doesn't matter because no audio comes out of it anyway.
      6. The speaker setting display is on the center soundbar behind a grill, display in pixel led. You will not be able to see the display if you are more than 5-8ft away. For the price they couldn't create an on screen display? Useless
      7. The Audio sounds like you are in a tunnel, I guess thats what they think 5.1 should sound like.
      8. The speaker will sometime pop as you traverse through Netflix selections.
      9. There is a 5 second delay in Netflix after a selection before sound comes out of the speakers.
      10. The solution for the slow processing speed for the volume control is to have the volume selection slip every other number. So, the volume control is only usable by 2 digit increments. 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. So if u think 7 is just right too bad that is not available. Super dumb!
      11. The inwall screw anchor is one size too large. There is a great chance the screws could pop out. You should insert an additional anchor into the one provided.
      12. The sound level fluctuates.
      13. The HDMI cables that came with it are garbage. For a grand, I would think they could spend $10 bucks for a better cable. I guess milk you once since they know you won't buy again. Smart business.
      14. The location of the HDMI plugs are brainless. This is a sound bar that will be mounted on the wall below the TV. But the placement of the HDMI plugs are at the back of the unit not even facing up. Little thought was put in to design this system.
      I just did all the work for them on version 3.0 for free.
      Overall, this system didn't meet my expectation and the brand quality of Nikamichi. Will come back if I find anything else.
      Please give me a thumbs up if this was helpful.
      Update (April 2021) - These speakers are garbage. I just can't express how much I hate these speaker. Over price junk. It has so much problems that it should be considered Beta speakers. Today the soundbar just started to automatically turnoff every 20 mins. I guess it because it decided to put itself on standby mode. I spent 2 hours and still cant find out how to turn that off. JUNK!
      (JAN2022) - I had to come back here to provide another update. I thought I could get use to the system after some time. But one can never get use to garbage because it just get more disgusting over time. This sound bar is beyond the ability to describe. If you pay over $200 for this system you are over paying. That is why you see so many people trying to dump this garbage. I'm surprised there isn't a class action lawsuit for the grief this system cause! Please save yourself the agony and buy something else.
      (Jan2022) - Now the speaker is acting up. The eARC is not detecting apple TV. Must unplug and reply again. This has happened many many times. Can't express how much these speakers are garbage
      (May2022) - Now I have no idea what is wrong with the speakers. When I turn it one it does not go to the last set values. Not I have to set it every time. Also the unit is running slower. I haven't heard much from the rear speakers for months. I'm really tired of these speakers. I know why people are selling them. I just wish the company would take this junk back.
      (JUN2022) - just watched the new star wars show with the speakers. The show has ATMOS. You wouldn't be able tell with this audio system. 99% of the time it's only the sound bar that is running. I think the logic chip junk and is unable to process any of the audio correctly. $1000 for this system is ridiculous, when a $100 system would sound better.

    Great Review!
    I recently purchased The Shockwafe Pro 7.1.4 System. I really wanted the Elite. But try using that in a New York City studio apartment. I'd probably have everyone in my building forcing my landlord to evict me. LOL
    Seriously, I also couldn't justify spending the extra $300+ for The Elite at this time.
    With that said,
    I've been absolutely thrilled with The Pro. It's replacing my Sony HT-CT150 that's about a decade old. The sound of The Pro is beautifully clear. Even moreso on the music end since I listen primarily to Jazz.
    But Yeah.
    That extra subwoofer would have been NICE!
    Maybe Next Time.

    I've been using surround sound for a good 20 something years. I grew tired of cables and things not working properly and for the longest 5 years I've had nothing on the TV. But hey, game sound is awful, and this might fit the bill. No cables (or at least the bare minimum). I'll try, again! Great vid! Ah! growing up in the 70s Nakamichi had the best amps of all time, lusted for a long time but were expensive and hard to get. It's a great brand.

While the CineMate obviously sounded great the lack of surround (I used to have a old RCA receiver, and once you experiment with surround is hard to get back), lack of proper configuration and DSP options (I found the ADAPTiQ system to be quite cumbersome) kind of pushed me into getting the Shockwafe. As a side note, I did not realize that it was your music playing (Forever) until a few minutes ago. I love that song, and have played it on repeat more than once. Great job all around - subscribed.

      @@TechnoDad I know this vid is 8 months old, and not certain if you still have this Nakamichi system, but I would be interested in your thoughts on the Samsung HW-N950. Keeping in mind that it is almost 2x as much, I have to say that I prefer the Samsung. Better center channel vocals (a big thing for an old person like me.. :) ), Atmos support with upfiring speakers, and (surprisingly) I do not notice that much of a difference between the bass of the 2 systems.

Bottom line, I need you advice PLEASE. I think this Nak 7.2.4 system is the one for my, but I wanted to run the equipment I have now by you for your opinion. I currently have a LG 70" LED model UK6190, an LG 4K Ultra Player Model UBKM9, and an AppleTV 4K model A1842. I have a low end LG sounder now, and it sounds like crap, but on top of that it seems I need an HDMI switch to get bot the Apple TV and LG 4K Ultra Player to both play thru the speaker, but I think this soundbar addresses all of that because I can connect the AppleTV and 4K player to the HDMI 1 & 2 ports, and HDMI ARC to the LED TV's HDMI ARC jack, and get good sound from all devices (even if I use the TV's smart features, or connect a Firestick to the TV). Would you say this is the best choice for great sound in the price range ($850 now a Best Buy), or is there a better soundbar for these devices altogether, or possibly even a AV Receiver/Speaker package that might make the cut and stay in the budget range? Hard to beat dual 8" subs in this price range I would think in an AV Receiver/Speaker setup...

    Thanks for doing the demo on this considering your room “limitations” & the fact that you’re generally not a soundbar fan. Questions: do u have any idea why Nakamichi is allowed to use the dts:x logo on their material, e.g., exterior of box, when this system only provides a SIMULATED version of dts:x? And what about the Atmos component? Is that the “real deal” or another simulation? IF my assumptions are correct, it makes me somewhat nervous potentially buying a product that may be advertising misleading information. No matter how many contests it has won, I’d like to know more about what the most important parts of Nakamichi’s system are for me - the Atmos & dts:x components. Which, as u know, are incorporated into a movie during the shooting or post-production phases of movies. THAT’S what I’d like to hear (given variations due to room configurations, system differences, etc.), but NOT simulated versions of object-oriented sound. Most manufacturers are fairly clear when they are using technology that tries to mimic the real thing. Thx!

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  5 років тому

      Hi! So they have licensed DTS:X so they can use the logo even though it is simulated. Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision pass-through are supposed to be supported with an update. Again, Atmos will also be simulated. I would prefer to put speakers at the ceiling as ceiling bounce won't work in my space. And even if I had the right ceiling or space I would still use a height channel. It can get expensive though and from all the soundbars I have experienced, this one gives a better surround experience. It is hard to get the full immersive experience when there are no speakers above.

    • @ttaylor5847
      @ttaylor5847 5 років тому

      Techno Dad - Many thanks for your response and especially for clarifying the “simulated” vs “real” object-oriented sound & the licensing aspects, etc. It’s too long to get into here, but this is a deal-breaker for me. And since writing my initial comment, I learned about LG’s announcement that it’s 2019 soundbars will have BOTH Atmos & dts.x! If the reviews are decent, I MAY finally have a product that works easily with my 2016 LG OLED55E6P - the same TV you have, less 10.” BUT, after buying an XBox One X over Xmas (for the final component to get ANY kind of decent sound on this $3,800 CDN TV), I read the following in Forbes Consumer Tech column: “I’ve been contacted in recent days by people saying they’ve been told by LG C.S. Reps in more than one territory that the necessary Dolby Vision update [to match Microsoft’s XBox One X’s D.V. update] is definitely NOT going to be made available for 2016 LG models” - leaning towards supporting LG’s official earlier statement. You’ve actually been helping me greatly with my LG TV audio concerns by replying to my intermittent Emails, so I’ll send you another if I can’t sort this out myself - & after watching your video about possible burn-in issues with the LG OLED 55/65E6P! Thx again!

      I see Luis. Yeah, the 9.2 is a great value as you'll have 4 surround speakers and it won't break the bank. You can always sell it when you are ready for a bigger system. I mean, you can enjoy a surround sound experience with your new projector and screen at minimal cost. Then, you can slowly build your audio system and continue using the 9.2. When you've gotten to the point you want, sell it off and continue with your bigger system.

    What is wrong with people?
I surprised there is a class action lawsuit for the grief this system cause! Please save yourself the agony and buy something else.

    Great review, thank you so much!!! Quick questions:
    how would I connect a microphone for karaoke night?
    What are your thoughts on the Nakamichi Pro 7.1
    Thank you!!!

      You would need to plug that into an analog input on the soundbar

    Can you make a video explaining a little more about the functionality of HDMI ARC? If I have several game consoles do I have to keep switching inputs on the sound bar to use them? Or does the arc take care of that?

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad  5 років тому

      Arc doesn’t work that way. Connect everything to the soundbar. Change units on the soundbar. Keep the I out the same on the TV

      Techno Dad thanks so much for the rapid response! I really liked your vid! Need to check out some more. Also I’m wondering if I get the 7.1 can a pair an additional sub later if I need more bass?

    Is it worth buy the nakamichi shockwafe pro 7.1 dts or i should buy the elite 7.2 ? Its too much the difference ?

    • @DeceptseaN
      @DeceptseaN 5 років тому

      just depends on your setting at that point. the ONLY difference is the additional subwoofer. maybe they sell the sub seperate, buy 7.1 and just add on?

    • @creativhaus
      @creativhaus 5 років тому +1

      @@DeceptseaN Fron what I understand you cannot purchase an additional sub after the fact, I was planning on going that route myself.

    why does Nakamichi use bluetooth instead of wifi for its wireless speaker connections? Concerned about signal loss

    • @jackiejack4139
      @jackiejack4139 4 роки тому +1

      I read somewhere that it has got to do with the connection stability. wifi is sometimes unstable. but bluetooth is a lot more stable since there's less devices messing with the waves and stuff.

    which to choose Nakamichi Shockwafe Elite 7.2 or Samsung q90r soundbar

    • @capnsnaxx
      @capnsnaxx 4 роки тому

      You really can't go wrong with either. The only real separation between the two is the fact that the nakamichi has dual subs. So your bass can fill a larger space. Also it has a lower price point. I had to make the same decision and I chose the nakamichi.

    Just bought a refurbished nakamichi shockwafe 5.2 for $279. It has some scratches on both of the subs but that's it. One hell of a deal imo. Don't have room for surround.

      How was the sound? cause im planning on getting a refurbished one from nakamichi and i currently have the Sony ht-ct770 and wanted to upgrade. Is this better than the LG sk8y atmos soundbar or the Sony ht-x9000f. I dont want anything more than a soundbar itself and the sub that comes with it due to my kids will run around playing. Thanks

    • @hazmatcinemaxxx

      @@asiong10211986 Ive personally never heard either of those soundbars but I can tell you the sound from my refurbished nakamachi is awesome. It has tons of bass and the simulated surround sound is great. Only downside is the fact that I cant use hdmi arc with my lg tv because the audio constantly cuts out. Have to use the optical instead. Mine was so cheap refurbished because one of the subs has a small half inch hole on the side of it from shipping. Plan to seal it with wood glue. Still sounds the same and it was $220 off . Refurbished is definitely the way to go to get the best sound per dollar spent. You have to stalk ebay to find their good deals. Looks like right now they have none.

    My budget allows for either the shockwafe 9.2.4 or I can get a 5.2.2 (in ceiling Atmos) home theater set up for a medium/large room. Which do you think would be the better way to go?

    • @guillermoquinones9087
      @guillermoquinones9087 4 роки тому +1

      Obviously 5.2.2, much more immersive and depending on what speakers your getting and avr/amp you have it'll be louder. Wasnt a fan of sound bars.
