that was the only time one of the actors wore the costume, Skeet Ulrich begged Wes Craven that he had to wear the costume at least once, & that's him sneaking up behind Jamie Kennedy (all the other times it's a stunt person)
dewey definitely has enough coincidental disappearances to seem suspicious (e.g. standing outside w the mask when sid bursts out, only coming out of his bedroom when the phonecall is over, always being on the scene when attacks happen, wearing the same boots as ghostface, etc), and a lot of ppl interpret his sort of innocent personality as too good to be true. depends on the person and how much attention they pay dewey specifically.
Fun fact: Skeet Ulrich (Billy) wasn't suppose to hit Matthew Lillard (Stu) with the phone. He did it by accident and Matthew improvised the line "You hit me with the phone dick!" And Wes Craven liked it and kept it to the film.

One of the best slasher movies ever. A post modern masterpiece. For sure a film for horror fans, the movie is completely self aware, thats why it (and its sequels) are held in high regard..
The thing you have to understand is that when this movie was made, the Ghostface costume was NOT being sold at every major store in the country. The costume was relatively new and not so popular, which is what made it perfect for the film. The costume became popular BECAUSE of SCREAM. It went from obscure in its existence, to becoming official SCREAM merchandise. Also, the mask itself is based upon the famous painting “The Scream.”

17:18 Someone may have already said this, but the interviewer who asks, "So how does it feel to be almost brutally butchered?" is Linda Blair, aka Regan, the little girl from The Exorcist.
"Is that illegal?" Yes! California is a two-party consent state when it comes to wire tapping and, in this case, recording someone. Anyone recording audio or video of a person in whatever context has to have consent from all individuals involved in the recording. Gale broke the law putting her camera at that party and as useful as it was in tracking ghostface during the chase aspects of the third act and confirming that Billy and Stu were the killers (which would have still existed if they had managed to kill everyone), she can't legally use anything on that tape without potentially getting herself into a lot of hot water.
Dude, very glad to have found you through the Fear Street series. You're fucking hilarious and so damn entertaining. Seriously looking forward to seeing more from you!
@@Puggapillar lmao thank you. Fucking hate when people feel their pretentious opinions on creative content are the only correct way to go about things and proceed to be gatekeeping assholes about it lol But seriously, man-you’re funny as fuck. Keep it up, homie! You’re building something great here
17:17 - That reporter talking to Sidney is Linda Blair, star of The Exorcist. Also as far as Post-Credit scenes in films before the 90's, if you ever watch Airplane! or Ferris Bueller's Day Off, they have them (Airplane is more of a 'stinger' than a scene).
Fun Facts: - So when Tatum said to Dewey that the janitor is your superior its true cause the janitor at the school that was dressed as Freddy Krueger was Wes Craven who directed Scream-Scream 4 lol. He died after making Scream 4 so the new directors for Scream 5 directed "Ready or Not". Scream 5 came out this year and Scream 6 is in the works it'll be out next year in March. - So before Scream came out caller ID was not popular at all. The Caller I.D sales in the U.S tripled after Scream was released lol. - Billy AND Stu were at Casey's and used their girlfriends as Alibis for being out. Stu was on the patio with Steve while Billy was in the front tormenting her on the phone. The question about "Which door am I at" was a trick question. Stu ran to the front door to let Billy in you can hear the front door open before she went outside through the kitchen. When her mom was hearing Casey breathing on the other end of the phone line you can hear one talking to another saying "tree" and the the phone ends. - Wes Craven lol to get his actors into character emotionally like Drew Barrymore (Casey) and Neve Campbell (Sidney) right before he start to film he would run up to them and tell them something terrifying or sad like dead puppies and then run off and yell action lol. Drew's emotions were legit cause of Wes and for her love for animals lol. - Roger L. Jackson was the voice of Ghostface for all of Scream movies. For every film the actors were never allowed to meet him before or see him during filming so that way when they were on the phone with him it would give them that real fear effect. Wes Craven always kept him hidden from the others to where they couldn't see him but he was still able to see them. He also improved a lot of his lines aswell. - They casted Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis and gave him the same kind of hair style cause of how close he looked like to young Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street who he also climbed in through a bedroom window. His last name Loomis is a reference to Dr. Loomis in Halloween. - Also when he climbed through her window the first time "Fear the Reaper" was playing. He climbed through her window to distract her and turned on her stereo and up the volume to cover up the background noise of Stu kidnapping her dad. If notice he was wearing the same outfit at the end. - The news lady that was harassing Sidney "how does it feel to almost being butchered" that's Linda Blair from the Exorcist. - If look really closely when Billy was "stabbed" in the bedroom you can see Stu adding the fake blood onto the knife before wiping it off. -Casey's comment about Nightmare on Elm Street about how the first was good but the rest sucked. It's because Wes Craven only did the first one and didn't direct all of the other ones lol. -Kenny actually saved Sidney in his literal final moment after his throat got slashed. He pointed to the back and told her door so she could crawl out. - Ghostface in the bathroom was a prank on Sidney it wasn't either Billy or Stu. - Rose McGowan(Tatum) was actually able to fit through the cat door. They had to staple her shirt to the door cause she kept falling out. Also just before her head got smashed in she herself added calling out "mom" and Wes loved it and kept it in. Rose also picked out her own outfits for her character. The jersey she wore with #10 was also a reference to Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street. - When Billy hit Stu in the head with the phone it was a accident on Skeets part. The fake blood was so sticky and ended up hitting Matthew Lillard instead of the desk and his "Oww You hit me with the phone D***" was a real reaction to it. Wes loved it aswell so he kept it lol. Matthew also improved most of his kitchen scene with his lines like with "Houston we have a problem" "the peer pressure" and the comment about his parents going to be so mad lol. - Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard actually started dating while filming Scream and were together for little over 2 years. So that whole "I've always had a thing for you Sid" was true lol. He originally auditioned for Billy but the casting didn't believe that Sidney would date someone like him lol. So he ended up getting Stu and Skeet got Billy cause of his look alike to Johnny Depp. Funny thing is even though the casting thought that about Matthew they ended up dating real life anyways 😂 - When Billy got stabbed with the umbrella the 2nd time it actually hit Skeet where he had heart surgery when he was younger so that scream he let out was his real action to the pain. - Drew Barrymore was supposed to play Sidney. But she ended up changing her mind and went to Wes with a idea to have her as the open kill cause no one would expect it. Also would show if they could kill off a huge star right off the bat it would mean NO ONE was safe. -Even though Billy was at Sidneys for the attack. It was actually Stu who she fought with when he was tripping up the stairs you can hear ghostface saying "easy" "easy". The next day at the lockers he was checking his face in Tatums mirror for any bruises and when Tatum was hitting him with her sucker he says "easy" "easy. -Billy was always 1 handed with his killing if he had a knife if didn't he resorts to choking except for Tatum he used the opportunity with the garage door. He gave a signal look to Stu at the front door that Tatum was dead. Stu uses both hands when using the knife and resorts to other tactics if doesn't have knife like the both times he fought Sidney. -Stu was the one that called Dewey about the abandon car and also called Randy about the principal after the whole "I'll be right back". Billy killed the principal so they can use him as a deploy for later that night to get rest of the guests to leave so the real party can began. - Dewey was supposed to die in this one but Wes Craven and everyone just loved David Arquette and how he played his character. They all fell in love with him so at the end Wes had Dewey do the thumbs up to show the audience that he survived.
I can definitely see why you thought it was Dewey, I remember when this came out a lot of people thought he was going to be the killer and that was intentional, they wanted you to keep guessing. I was constantly changing my mind when I first saw it. That’s the brilliance of this movie, one minute your convinced you know who the killer is and the next second you question everything you thought, it messes with you. There weren’t very many horror who done it movies, it was usually cut and dry who the killer is, not to say there wasn’t any but not as much. Nowadays people guess that it’s Billy but back then everyone thought it was too obvious and the film makers wouldn’t be that lazy but they fooled everyone and it was genius! This is also one of the few horror films that had two killers, no one saw that coming! I love this movie, it’s also very funny and makes fun of horror tropes. Even the director himself Wes Craven made fun of his work. He directed Nightmare On Elm Street and MANY more horror films, he also played the janitor who the principle calls Fred. It’s great satire but doesn’t go fool parody, it has a great story and memorable characters.
Love your videos. They make my day a lot better. I’m glad that I’ve found a genuinely funny Aussie reaction channel. I haven’t watched the video yet but I know I’ll enjoy it.
I love drew Barrymore she's going to make this movie so good. Yes yes she is. But not in the way that you thought haha Edit Drew is the main character, clearly she's going to be fine. Oh dear.
When Randy (Jamie Kennedy) was watching Halloween by himself and telling Jamie Lee Curtis to turn around that he's behind you. Wes wanted to play on that with their really names. It was him telling himself that he Jamie needed to turn around lol. The way Wes Craven creates those little things is amazing and brilliant! - Also, I don't know if you caught on to it but the whole last 20-30mins everything that was happening around the house it was perfectly mirroring with what was happening in Halloween lol.
After watching your Fear Street trilogy reaction, I couldn't believe you hadn't seen so many of the horror movies that it references. So glad to see you getting into it and starting with Scream. I saw this movie when I was 14 in a theater by myself because the opening was too intense for my mom and she bailed on me to another movie.
I got to watch this yesterday thanks to being a patreon member 🙌🏻 Genuinely enjoyed watching your reaction to seeing this for the first time. I forgot how meta it is
Wes Craven was the janitor in the Freddy costume. Also, it's funny how he mixed his name with John Carpenter, director of the first 3 Halloween movies.
Gale was a tabloid journalist so it’s perfectly logical for teens to watch her show. She basically reported a lot of gossip, though she wanted to move on to higher things.
Billy in the upstairs with Sidney basically made a big time reference which comes into play in Scream 5. Randy's actor's real name is Jamie too, so when he said Jamie don't turn around he was being meta too :D. Randy was by far my favorite of the film series. Fred the Janitor is actually Wes Craven himself paying homage to his other film series, NOES.
90s kids were so carefree. No school shootings, pre 911, and covid type things to scare everyone. So when something like this happened, yeah it was dumb, but we didn’t really know any better. Really was such a cool time to be dumb lol
@@montanahaler8067 Columbine was in 99' and was pretty much the reason why Scream 3 was set in LA instead of a small town or community like the first 2 films were.

To answer your question when the news lady put that camera in and started recording, yes that would be illegal. You would be filming minors with out consent then watching it. Also because it’s filming them and then watching it with someone else all with out consent. I don’t think you would go to like prison since its not serious like you know murder or the nasty but it’s still not right to film minors

Kevin Williamson wrote the story, originally titled Scary Movie, and based the plot loosely on the 1990 case of the Gainesville Ripper. It was a string of murders in a small town... Then it was changed to "Scream" cause the Ghostface costume was a close resemble to the Scream painting. The Ghostface costume was originally going to be all white but Wes Craven said it was to much like the KKK so he did the black robe with white face. Then the title "Scary Movie" ended up being used for the parody movies. The 1st Scary Movie was making fun of Scream, Scream 2, I know what you did last summer and the matrix.
The fact that you just said you only know the characters the killer is referencing but you don’t know and haven’t seen the movies… you hurt my horror loving heart 😭😭

It's still goofy-looking.
Only if you’re watching a movie about a killer wearing it. If you were being stalked in real life, it would be absolutely terrifying.
I can’t believe this killer is spoiling horror movies I haven’t even watched, what an actual menace > : [

I love this so much. Your "Drew Barry no more" made me snort so hard. I hope you do the other movies!
Certainly will be! Just doing some other horrors/ non horrors first before Scream 2
Dude same, I laughed soo hard at that. This is great content 👌
@@dontmakeabigdealoutofit thank you so much man!
"Is that illegal?"
Yes!

I'm so scared to watch The Exorcist at some point, I've never seen it and I'm worried I'll be traumatized for weeks 😭

But Gale is so amazing! Can’t help but love her! Lol
Fun fact Drew fought for her right to have Casey to die right away because the audience wouldn't expect it
that's incredible, wow!
@@Puggapillar They wanted her for Sidney, but she said it would be more unexpected if she was the first girl instead.
Fun Facts:
- So when Tatum said to Dewey that the janitor is your superior its true cause the janitor at the school that was dressed as Freddy Krueger was Wes Craven who directed Scream-Scream 4 lol.
Funny thing is even though the casting thought that about Matthew they ended up dating real life anyways 😂
- When Billy got stabbed with the umbrella the 2nd time it actually hit Skeet where he had heart surgery when he was younger so that scream he let out was his real action to the pain.
Wes Craven, Scream's creator, was actually the janitor dressed as Freddy

They'll be covered for sure!!
Except for 3.
@@fynnthefox9078 Yeah, you're right! 3 is the worst of the franchise! Although, It's still fun to watch and I'm glad it existed!
Its a BRILLIANT MOVIE!
Love your videos. They make my day a lot better. I’m glad that I’ve found a genuinely funny Aussie reaction channel. I haven’t watched the video yet but I know I’ll enjoy it.
The fact that you're saying you haven't watched it but you'll enjoy it is insanely kind. Thank you 😍
I love drew Barrymore she's going to make this movie so good. Yes yes she is. But not in the way that you thought haha
Edit
Drew is the main character, clearly she's going to be fine.
"Scream, grunt, fart or something." I can't. Just can't. 🤣

Gale was a tabloid journalist so it’s perfectly logical for teens to watch her show. She basically reported a lot of gossip, though she wanted to move on to higher things.
This was brilliant! Watching you watch one of my favorite horror movies with such fresh eyes. This was a blast!
What do you mean with your first sentence. I’m not sure I understand what the reference is?
This is SO refreshing seeing someone react to this who has never seen it before

@@montanahaler8067 Columbine was in 99' and was pretty much the reason why Scream 3 was set in LA instead of a small town or community like the first 2 films were.

Hellraiser is a well known Horror/Slasher movie from 1987 that has many Sequels. The Janitor dressed like Freddy Krueger IS Wes Craven. It REALLY Is Meta because the actor playing Randy is really named Jamie when he’s saying “Jamie look behind you”

She had to run up the stairs because she locked the front door she originally was planning to run out of.
Definitely the first time I've seen someone watch this and see Billy and NOT immediately say "oh yeah, he's the killer" 😂
I live how you crack jokes while watching. 😭💀 like I'm literally sitting here about to shit myself and then you make funny af jokes and I start laughing so much.
Love your content!
Welcome to the channel man! I'm glad you're loving the videos ❤
Not me about to binge you watching this entire series I'm just in the mood for it!
Fun Fact: the reporter that said, “how does it feel to be almost brutally butchered,” is played by Linda Blair, aka Regan from The Exorcist
You are without a doubt the most underestimated UA-camr
1. Dammit, man. I have been waiting for this video forever and you upload it during the day when I sleep for my nightshift so now I'm late to the party. Ugh.
2. I realize we kinda did a disservice to you having you watch this one first bc there are so many references (and spoilers) for the other other movies here.
3. I live for your dad jokes and your laugh (especially when you are laughing at your own jokes lol)
You can never be late to a video! They don't premiere anymore!
And you are fully right, I wish I had of watched this after at LEAST seeing some of the other slashers first 😂
Women’s bathrooms really are like that though - ladies just love talking to each other across the stalls
even trading mad stinkers??
Scream 2 is almost as good as the original! Subscribed for that reaction!!
Subscribed only for the Scream 2 video?! 🤣
@@Puggapillar ha!! I’ll check out your other vids man!
post credits scenes in 1996 ☠
You laugh, but there are 90s movies with post credit scenes! One of my favorite things with 90s comedies was silly/funny opening or post credits. Wayne's World, out in 1992, has a post credit scene ;D
And yes I know this is your podcast XD
21:28 well the kids might think it's Happy Days now.
3:20 I’ve seen it so many times and I love it, it’s so weird but awesome
that reporter that asked her how it feels to almost be brutally butchered is Linda Blair from The Exorcist
never seen it!
The voters to that poll did you a disservice. You needed to watch the classics first before Scream. It makes it even better.
