As long ago as this was filmed. That parking lot looks the same to this day!

I've been going to this park my entire life. I was born two months before this video was filmed, and other than a few pictures of early trips there, I've always wondered what it looked like before I became old enough to remember it. Seeing little things that aren't there anymore (that little Ferris wheel almost two minutes in, for example) is absolutely surreal to me because so much of it's still the same that I can easily recognize the places I love to go but so much has changed that it feels like a completely different world. Thank you for the upload! This is so interesting to me.

I can tell you I grew up going there. I started going in around 88 and have gone nearly every year to this day. Though last year sadly it did not happen.
I can tell you the days prior to the big boom it has experienced were somehow more magical. It has its own magic now and that Knoebels charm but driving up and seeing the back curve of the phoenix for instance are things you cant do now. Though that view of impulse now is just wow. They moved the entry road at some point.
There were certain sounds as well. The fast pitch game next to the Whirlwind especially as summer nights turned darker and all the lights in the park lit up and the shadows hid the finer details. The place is the stuff of dreams. Then and still now.

Cool video . He corrected his pronunciation of Knoebels in 2001. Hard for me to believe that Ferris wheel was still there in 1993 . Like the Phoenix and Twister the park overall just keeps getting better and better .

I remember the old Ferris wheel, jet star, original version of the cosmotron, the high speed thrill coaster, axis, whirlwind (hated that coaster honestly), I remember when the flume opened & that was the biggest deal ever - longest lines for a summer or two also.
I love the recognition the internet has given to the park, more and more people coming to our little park in the mountains…..it’s just crazy to think 20-25 years ago it was still just a local to the area type place - now it’s world known.
Knoebels was my home park growing up (85-06) before I moved to Orlando. Even though Disney and universal are home parks for me now - I still make ample time every summer to get back to my all time favorite place.
Whenever we go we camp out for days -- come say hi, you’ll find us on TEXAS road either directly behind the twister or down a little bit near the water slide stairs.

With a couple of exceptions, the park looks about the same. That's what's great about this place. It seems to look the same even with the new attractions.

Hi, I was wondering if you took a video of the country bears that were at Knoebels in the 90s

    • @PlancoandChill
      @PlancoandChill 3 роки тому

Fun fact. Those bears are now in a room in the haunted house. But you cant see them. I am assuming its the wall that faces the old show building next door.
Basically when you enter the upside down room and start going straigt forward. On your left is a wall that is on tracks. That wall slides open to reveal a work shop.
In winter all of the carts from the haunted house are powered up and driven onto a track in that upside down room. Then the staff can simply open the wall and turn on the set lights and that upside down room becomes a work shop. Its heated and everything.
To make a long story short the very back wall of the shop has all of the bears sitting together. Among other secrets in that room is also a bat that used to drop down on you in the haunted house. Its eyes flashed and it made a sound.
Kids liked to punch or swat it so it was moved to the room where things go to retire.
Fun extra fact. The attic scene is not really upstairs. Its a set that is elevated but not like up on the 3rd floor or anything. Anyway, the pile of stuff is all real stuff. There are parts of old games and a working radio. All relics from the parks past. They are fastened together so they dont fall but otherwise they are all real items that have grown the pile over time.

This has to be after 1999 because thats when the twister was built

The park really hasn't changed much other than changing out the supporting coasters it looks like. Phoenix is still amazing, that ending is the best finale on any coaster. And I'd argue it's been in a good way that they've changed out the supporting coasters, reviving 2 John Allen classics and I never thought I'd ride a wooden bobsled. While I never rode Whitlwind I think Impulse is better than any 80s Vekoma I've ridden for a modern looping coaster.

Wasn’t the Twister built in 1999? I’m positive it was, so I’m not sure the 1993 date is accurate.

If you look at the bottom of the screen during that part, the date changes to shown that part at the very end was filmed in 2001. 90% of the video is from 1993.
