Really enjoying your style of videos! I want to buy a W123 but am concerned about the vacuum systems. Are these problematic and how difficult are these to fully sort?
Thank you! Don’t be, it’s a very straight forward system. In this video I talk about the one on a diesel but the petrols are even simpler ua-cam.com/video/3c-S1zUPmtQ/v-deo.htmlsi=LmL8xV8Bd1ocVK90
Don’t forget the CKD models assembled in China in 1988 and 1989. Very hard to find information on them but they built 200 model regular wheelbase sedans and unique to China 230E long wheelbase models.
English Red. I love the way the Germans subtly (?) insult the English, implying they somewhat colour blind!!! Also the bunny rabbit headrests!! Yes, as you turn on aircon, its like throwing an anchor out the back!!
My dad bought them purely due to us filling up on the farm. And taking some diesel with. I can see the steering wheel as well as the dash trim strip are the pre-facelift one. The colour also. The dash is LOVELY!
I have a also the 300 D,but what I would like to know is where this one came from,it has electric windows, open slide sun roof and headrests front and back 🤔 I absolutely enjoy this car and draws so much attention 👌
These were popular here in Australia as well. Ac was standard as was PS . Other options were pw /pm/cl on later variants. 1.5m km plus wasn't unheard of. Great videos as usual
"A few compliments". Yes. Wherever I take my 300D, compliments shower down. A good looking W123 attracts attention. Wherever I drive, Im amazed how infrequently I see another W123 on the road, and I say so because I know there are many W123's around. Are theyxall just once a month cars? I wonder. /I saw from earlier pix of the motor, that the return pipes might do with replacing.
Didn’t know about the dealer options. All of the 240d’s I ever saw had no left mirror. That’s how I differentiated them from a distance. I never saw a 300d without both rvm’s. My dad bought a 300d w123, 1981 model, in 1985. I believe he paid a princely R19k for it, back then. Stayed in the family for 21 years, before he sold it, after my mum passed. It had a slightly different steering wheel - didn’t have the serrations on either side of the horn. But it still had four of those delightful devil horn style headrests! The aircon, I believe, weighed an absolute ton. My uncle (cheapskate) had a 1983 200, and opted to remove the entire unit, with compressor, when his gave trouble. He said two guys had to carry it away😂. What marvellous automobiles!
I really like the 123, it’s the last old school looking type, but honestly only the turbo version and the 230 E is useable. ( of course all six cylinder models are also rolling as well , just unfortunately they needed a petrol station) By the way in my opinion the w124 is the best Mercedes ever if anyone doesn’t mind that the style is a little bit modern not so classic as the w123!! Cheers from Hungary 🇭🇺
Channel is growing nicely 🎉🍾
Slowly but surely, always fun doing videos for it.

Needles arent faded - I like that. Needles match the paintwork. :-)
Beautiful old car. Love the diesel cars.
Me too!
Pity that the non turbo version is not happy to get to the ideal 120 kmph cruise mark for overtaking on the motorway.

Hi Keyan, can you assist on fixing a cluster that’s partially/ partly working?

I so wish the 300D in SA had come with a turbo. The US is filled with w123 300D turbos. Yet here in SA we did not. Sad, so sad.
