  • Today I had a wonderful opportunity to drive TS2 which is the very first right hand drive Triumph TR2 ever built. The car is owned by the TR Register and has been on a tour of the United Kingdom throughout the 2022 season. In this video you will see my first hand account of what I think to TS2. The historical importance of this car cannot be under estimated as all Triumphs up until the last TR6 built can trace there origins to TS2
Hears link the the TR Register www.tr-register.co.uk/ a fantastic car club to be part of

I paid $150 Cdn for my 1959 TR3A in 1970....And I'm still driving it to-day...It's actually in better health than I am now at 76 years old, lol ....I need to service the fuel pump again due to Ethanol and change the oil but my eyes are giving me some issues and it's breaking my old heart....Some stories I could tell from my years of adventures though, and I need more than one mirror now!........John (west coast, Can.)

Great stuff, lovely to know you've had a TR3A for so long, and kept it on the road for all this time 👍

Hi Steve. I too enjoyed TS 2 's visit to Devon Group in May . I was offered a drive but bizzarly declined ! It's amazing to think , not only can any member drive it but it is also driven to every TR Group in the country ......no trailer queens here ! Thanks Steve..

It's a great car TS2, and much like you say, no trailer queen, she's used and enjoyed. It's just great to see such a car go on a tour of the UK, goes to prove, if well maintained can be well abused 👍

Cheers Tush, I enjoyed every minute of it. It was great to take it out on a nice 20 mile road trip around my local area, shes a real performer, and not bad for a car getting close to 70 years old 👍

Well done Steve. But I think the club should have got you to do a pre tour run out and introductory video so all the group areas could have it as an educational resource.

Nice. A friend has a 3A and you can definitely see where it came from.

Without a doubt, with the parts that go from the TR2, and how they developed into the TR3-4, then IRS TR4A, six cylinder in the TR5 and then restyled TR6 there a real family line up in them cars 👍

I was going to drive TS2 when it was at Brooklands, but the person before me ragged it up the start/finish straight and a do gooder (volunteer) put paid to any more driving. Anyway you had a proper go in it, and hopefully I'll get a go another time.

Cheers mate, it's amazing how well this car goes considering it's nearly 70 years old. Keeps up with modern traffic, and even though it has drum brakes all round, it's been set up right, so it doesn't just go well it stops right and all 👍

I have seen a number of the TR2's over the years and I just love the design. They were well ahead in the early 50's,and this is coming from an MG owner. I have a 1977 B,

Cheers Robert, I think MG had the right idea to go monoque with the MGB, but in the 1950's you compare a TR2 or TR3 to the MGA. Well the MGA is gorgeous in every respect, but the TR2 had torque and grunt 👍

'TS2' is the chassis number of the very first right hand drive Triumph TR2. There is one older, TS1 and this is the first left hand drive Triumph TR2 and lives in America. It's just refereed to in Triumph circles as TS2, even though it is a TR2, although it has got some different unique parts on it compared to a normal TR2. As for the flat cap, it's welded to my head lol 👍
