I've started keeping slashed clothing and making little girls hair bows , head bands and hair claps. I also cut out quilting squares and donate them to quilting circles. I'm making some little girls handbags out of blue jeans and patch work totes. Cloth earrings overlapping plastic cut into shapes from discarded gift cards and add hooks. There are so many different crafters that can use material.
The clothing can definitely be used for quilting!
What nice ideas for the stuff you can’t donate cause they destroy them. Such a sin!
The waste is disgusting! I tried to do some diving in my area so that I could donate things, but they lock the dumpsters. They would rather fill the landfills than let people use perfectly good items. Such a shame.

So true, unless you have trash pickups who actually go through the stuff before it makes the landfill then half the stuff don’t go.
My brother works for a trash company and he sometimes takes good stuff out before he loads it into the dump truck.
Some of the items could been donated to places that actually could use it. They just do this shit because a lot of times some DD will take the stuff to try and return it for the money. I know it’s sad to see the landfills get all this awesome stuff, sometimes you have trash picker uppers who do take what they can before dumping it into their dump truck. My brother has brought home good items from store dumpsters that he can use or give others before he dumps it into his truck.
Exactly like all these corps are fucking a holes... they do not care about people, all they care is selling their products... they could even donate these things but instead throw them to trash, how disgusting of them
I love DDing. I live in New Orleans and there are 3 Ulta Beauty stores in and around the city. Our stores don't damage items, they just throw them away. I donate a lot of what I find.

Look up "how to splice electrical cords on small appliances" on UA-cam. It is easy. I've done it often. And it works perfectly.
There’s a few videos on how to fix cut cords on UA-cam. it would work the same as fixing an extension cord!
Please wear some thick gloves,like gardening gloves while you dumpster dive. Lovely finds. 😍

They don’t get to write it off if they donate it . Destroying it gives them a tax write off as a loss . Governments should give them a tax credit if donated , but then you wouldn’t be dumpster diving . 😮

Those sunglass cases can be crafted into beautiful evening clutches. By embellishing with crystals and repurposed costume jewellery.

It’s so sad that the clothing is destroyed, so many people could benefit
I think it’s possible for some of the clothes to be repaired. I know I could fix the green onesie and possibly one of the plaid shirts. But still I hate how wasteful those stores are.

Just make sure dumpster diving is legal wherever you plan on doing it at.
And even if you do get the cops called on you wouldn’t be committing any crimes.

Curious what state you live and if you get worried about getting the cops called on you?
I think she resides in Texas. If, the business does call the call the police on you. Usually, the police, employee, business owners, or managers. Will ask you to leave their business. Just be polite & apologize follow their lead. The police & employee would generally care less. The police have bigger issues to deal with & employee are paid minimum to care. Unless their on some power trip. Now, you have two options. One: Never return to the establishments for awhile or ever. Two: Come back after store hours or when the store is officially closed.
What happens to you if the stores or mall security catches you? Just want to prepare myself if I ever try it?

Its such a shame that they destroy items that can be a tax write off and people in need can USE them. I understand you don't want people diving for a purse and then maybe selling them. But you can take the interior label off. I will spend my money in places that don't destroy their items.
