I was at my local Plato's Closet yesterday afternoon and the girls were taking clothing from the racks to the storeroom. I woke up about a few hours ago and went back out of curiosity. They tossed out 5 bags full of clothing and a box full of shoes. Nothing destroyed..some things with original tags. One bag has 3 Free People tunic tops. I would of went live because I want to make a channel on Dumpster Diving but I'm a bit nervous lol
You should definitely make a channel! You don't have to go live, just record and talk. If you're nervous just pretend like your friend is with you and you're just talking to them!
When You decide to share pictures/videos/Lives of Your $aved items; I’m sure I’m not the only Person that would like to see at least a photo. Oh; and I’ll be looking forward to Your LIVES
It really makes me angry that these companies would rather destroy items and throw them in a landfill instead of donate them to local shelters. There should be a law against this.

Daisy -- I would like there to be a law that stores can't just throw out perfectly fine merchandise. They should be required to donate at least a percentage of it. I don't know why this idea makes you so upset, unless you LIKE waste.
Daisy dukes, They have all kinds of laws about what we can do with our property. For example I can't go into a school with a gun. I can't drive my car unless it's inspected. We can't throw away used batteries or medications. Ect.
It belongs to the company. Most decent people would not go into someone else’s dumpster to help themselves and then tell the company what to do with their garbage. I think the company should come go through your garbage and tell you what to do with it.
my local retirement homes love greeting cards and magazines as donations! residents use them for crafting :) just an idea if any of you are ever wondering what to do with excess cards!
That's a wonderful idea. Heck even some of her finds would be great gift donations for the holiday parties and such that residents have at nursing homes.

Great findings again. Awww the Old Navy slicing the clothes, I have only twice found clothes there that wasn't slashed. I can't believe they'd pay employees to slice all that clothes, that takes time, they're paying them to do that on hourly wages, cray cray lol. Thanks for sharing, stay safe out there.
I live in kansas and they don't throw away anything, I have searched high and low, the only place I've had luck was a used book store. So, if anybody near joco kansas could tip me off, I'm so jealous, I'm living in the wrong place lol.

Companies get tax write off deductibles so yes they. will intentionally damage or break items rather than give them away. You were fortunate to get only a few broken or damaged items.
Yesterday I saw an empty phone case box with Zara New York written on it I have never seen those before in New Zealand at the time I was visiting one of the clothing bins I often dive at the side of
I worked at a PetSmart and the reason these companies / their stuff is because if they don't they can't write it off as a LOSS. I mean sure would be wonderful if they donated it but it is better off for them to slice it and write it off as a loss then donating it. Let's just say I'm fortunate way it is
So much poverty around the world...homeless people .no shelter ...lost homes and families in floods...and this all could b treasure to them .but the high end brands seems that their policy makers have no heart . Extrmely sad to see
I believe the current tax code that gives them full reimbursement if they throw it away. If they donate it or give it away they either get nothing or far less.
