  • On November 10th, 2021, The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and TheCIL partnered to host an informative, free webinar about scams that affect our communities today. The FTC is the nation’s consumer protection agency that aims to prevent fraudulent practice through education, partnership, and law enforcement. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, there has been an increased number of Covid-19 related scams. Many scams target the disability and senior communities by disguising themselves as fake Covid 19 treatments and associated products. Other scams pretend to be organizations like the World Health Organization, sending targeted emails with viruses and harmful software. The FTC’s Covid-19 and Long-Term Care Webinar explains how to avoid related scams and what you should do if it happens to you.
